    I remember when I first learned about focus pullers and being amazed. It's one of those invisible jobs that's super important, but a lot of people don't even know it exists. This is an awesome project! Thanks for providing all the files for free.

      its the details where quality gets made. so much in filmmaking boils down to soemone justt doing a very good job at a very specific task.

    Yes, please extend this design to include the port and accept input from LANC accessories

      int theroy some code could do the trick, but I dopubt the interface prototcoll is open to use.

      @@MAYERMAKES found some pretty good specs online, but would still leave some people unhappy as there are 3 or 4 connectors that include pins for the protocol :) thanks for taking a shot at this

      Protocol is very simple bidirectional serial over a single wire. Lots of websites documents the telegram that is sent. Very simple.@@MAYERMAKES

    Good work - but....that's not LANC at all. LANC is a protocal for communicating with cameras (mostly (all?) Sony) that is usually a TRS input on a camera, and you can control stop/start/zoom. This has nothing to do with lanc.

    • @MAYERMAKES
      @MAYERMAKES ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hm a TRS like the 3,5mm jack in the video... Since its aproprietyry thing there is not much I can do about that, unless its opened. But the idea is to provide similar usage for any DSLR not just sony camcorders. I see how the title can be confusing, but that does not take away from the project IMO.

      @@MAYERMAKES Ok - but nothing about this is "LANC" - LANC is a protocal and hardware interface, and this uses none of that. Although lanc is not "open" it's well known. Just FYI.

    Instead of using a belt, why didn’t you just use a medium foam or medium soft rubber wheel go directly against the focus adjuster on the lens? This way the torque is direct, smoother, no need for belts or tensioners pulling and torquing on the lens drive and it also should make it narrower and more stream line making it direct drive. Just was curious why

    The video title is confusing - it implies that this controller uses LANC, which it doesn't.

      the wish was t omake a focus/zoom controller for DSLR in the style of lanc, I see how you are confused about this.

    Can I ask how this is LANC? It doesn't use the LANC protocol anywhere.

    You build something interesting, make a 21 minute video about it. Y u no show how it works, how it looks from inside the camera, how smooth the video focusing/zooming is? Y u no show more shots of the finished product?
