@fancyshmancy1999 I take no more than $1000 for the entire week. I play the 75 cent slots. And then play games that win frequently. You may not win the jackpot but it builds up your points. Although last cruise I won $1900 on a 75 cent slot!
@fancyshmancy1999according to the video, $3 - $5 per point * 2,500 points * 3 cruises per year = $22,500 - $37,500 spent in the casino in the past year.
How much money did you spend in the casino to get those 3 free cruises though? I mean if it’s breakeven or better then awesome! But it reminds me of an encounter I had while working at an airport years ago. Older couple came back from Vegas and the man bragged the entire ride back to their car “I won 15,000! I won 15,000!” . Man’s wife was getting visibly upset every time he bragged. Finally she broke out “TELL EVERYONE HOW MUCH YOU LOST TO WIN THAT 15,000!” . Man went silent the rest of the ride 😂.
I had a phone get wet and wouldn't turn on on a business trip one year. I keep a set of copies in carry on and checked luggage for each passenger and was able to get back home with relative ease.

You can get free cruise offers without tiering up in the casino. My wife got over 500 points on our first RC cruise. Nowhere near the 2500 points. On the ship, she got $100 off on our next cruise. Shortly after getting home, we got an email offering her a free stateroom on select dates and sailings. Pretty good variety of options. By the time we decided what we wanted to do, we got another free offer for March sailing options. Plus, we noticed her $100 off offer had increased to $200. Just recently, we got free offers for April. Bottom line? As long as you play a decent amount, even without tiering up, you will have some great options for discounts and offers. You may not get to choose any cruise you want, but there are enough options that you should be able to find something that interests you.
We’ve been sailing with Royal since’01, always play in the casino(her more than me) and have never been offered a free nor discounted cruise, unfortunately. But I stay loyal since I have never had a bad experience with Royal.
@FrancisSiuChock I believe you need 2500 points to make it to the 1st tier increase. If it's $5 per point, that's a lot of play on penny slots. We took $200 for the 2 of us to play on for the week. We ended up bringing home $100 of it. We had good, consistent play. Playing off winnings a lot. Some ups and downs. My wife got about 536 points, I believe. I had like 468 or so. She's the one getting the good offers, so it seems 500 points could be a threshold. Although I was offered a $75 discount on a cruise. But, I haven't had any of the free stateroom offers. With the offer we chose, we saved roughly 60% on a 5 night cruise on Mariner vs. booking online. Yeah, it's probably not a cruise we would have chosen to book normally, but we couldn't pass up that deal. We're excited for it!
@@BrandyH-eh9up Your seapass card is your casino card. We asked about joining the club to get a casino card. They said you're automatically in the club and to use the seapass card. This was our experience on Harmony.
Fun Fact: We're booked on Jewel next November. Booked while on Voyager for 1015pp (inside GTY). Since it dropped to 985 and RCL repriced the cruise, saving us $120. It has again dropped to 955. But if they were to reprice at that, the total would *increase* by 200 bucks because they've increased the tips and taxes/fees. So a lower room rate doesn't apparently always mean savings.
Couple of more tips: Just got of WOS last week and found out not only you can get Starbucks Beverages from Café Promenade with the Refreshment Package, you can also get them at the Vitality Café which was in the Spa/Gym area. Also, WOS had a Smoke-Free Casino where The Attic and Studio B are located and was good to be in there without that strong smoke smell in the larger Casino. I did the Izumi Lunch and was wondering why I got half a sushi roll when it was considered a large plate for the fixed menu but now I understand. Good thing I got 40% off that fixed price when I reserved the lunch before the cruise.
Thank you for discussing sunscreen application! I've found I burn if I start off with the spray sunscreen, but don't burn if I start off with the lotion sunscreen. I believe most of the spray sunscreen gets blown away so you don't end up with as much on your skin. I still pack the spray to reapply sunscreen to the tops of my feet and legs if they have sand on them, because trying to use sunscreen lotion on sandy skin only seems to work as an exfoliant skin scrub.
I would definitely recommend printing the sign and sail card anyway regardless if you’re going to use it or not . I work for att tech support and I don’t know how many calls I get from folks that have broke their phone just before a trip or something mechanically happens and the phone wont turn on then your basically SOL .
Any Australian cruiser will agree wholeheartedly with the sunscreen tip. Always use lotion (at least 30spf), apply before going out and reapply every two hours no matter what. Even when I’m on a cruise in NZ it’s important. 🇦🇺
Almost all my RC cruises, and unlimited drinks, are free through the casino. Yes, I may lose money in the casino, but I would gamble even if I paid for the cruise, so it's totally worth it. We budget a certain amount for gambling, and stick to it. The only problem is that we used to get lots of offers for free cruises in the mail, and now we hardly get any, so it's harder to accrue those points. They seem to be catering to new cruisers now and cutting back on perks for those who are "loyal to Royal".
Here's a little fun thing I do with the Casino. Cause I hit Prime and do get the free Cruises. But first, like Matt said. Gambling is a RISK! I've honestly only been ahead 1 time in all the cruises I've been on. But at the same time, I make sure I have a limit on when I need to stop! Now what Matt didn't mention on the Free cruises people get, is that they are for free for at least 2 people. But what I do is I go by myself. Because I do, I get double the Crown and Anchor Society points. I've been on 13 cruises with Royal and I'm 2 cruise away from being Diamond Plus.
So i would say that this tool of watching an itenerary is more for the cruiseline than the customer, respectively. If alot of people watch a specific itinerary, the cruiseline can adjust prices and demand using the information. I just doubt the cruiseline would spend the extra money adding this option the website, just to save customers money, therefore lessening the companys profits. If too many people watch specific flights, the price goes up. It would be the same here, I would assume.
I found out about Club Royal's comp'd cruises system in 2017. Haven't paid regular fare for a Royal Caribbean cruise since. Now 20 comp'd cruises later. I think I have enough long term data to say that the amount of money I've lost in the casino to get my 20 comp'd cruises in the last 6 years is only about 40% of what the cost would've been had I booked the same cruises on my own. With that said you need to really understand the comp system and how to take full advantage of it.
I’ve made prime for the last two years for £800 each time. Plus this year I’ve done 6 cruises for the cost of the port fees and taxes I could have done a lot more if I lived in Florida. I get new offers every week.

I am never going to fully use the casino benefits, but thanks to playing free app games I technically am in the club (though only prime - aka the first level). And the additional $100 OBC I can get per cruise via said free app is WAY better on my wallet than gambling a bunch for an eventual free cruise that I'd still have to pay to upgrade
Just did the Symphony of the Seas cruise - nobody told me the elevators sit on 17 waiting for suite guests - great feature if you are staying at a crown loft suite. BTW, don't use sunscreen - it's so bad for you - just wear a tshirt when you think you've had enough sun. We never wore sunscreen- got a lot of natural vitamin D.
@6:30 I get why you wouldn't want to carry normal 2-way radios onboard but what about something like Meshtastic? It's a 2-way radio but much smaller and uses much less energy to transmit at a longer range using the mesh tech.
I'm old school - I ALWAYS print a copy of my SetSail pass and bring it along. That way if the app malfunctions OR my battery dies, I can still board quickly and easily. I also laminate my luggage tags and use rubber loops to attach them to my suitcases. Popup showers are common in Florida, and I've seen those folded paper tags get quite soggy as they're being loaded onto the baggage carts. How long will they stay attached once they're sopping wet and they start jostling with all the other suitcases? It's anyone's guess, but I don't want to be that guest whose bag ends up misdirected because the staff couldn't find or couldn't read my luggage tag!
Could I get some feedback on transatlantic cruises. We are looking at 2026. Have always thought about taking one. Just would like some more pros and cons before booking. Thanks.
I have done considerable research on Royal Caribbean casinos and Club Royale. At firstt I was pretty excited, but then I found many people complaining that they got much fewer points that they expected for what they gambled. It appears that Royal Caribbean does not track guest's points accurately on table games, as it depends on the average bet value and time spent playing, specially at the most crowded times. I think I will stay away of the casino until they fix that.
It will most likely always be an issue because table games have a considerably lower house edge. Because of that, they will always reward slot play more than table play. The same is true in Vegas
They actually do have a math formula for points. For slots is 1 point for $5 coin in. Video Poker is 1 point for $10 coin it, and tables they just put down random numbers(if you make friends with the pit bosses, you get more points)
Yup, I used to do this on another cruise line, making friends with dealers/pit bosses is your best bet. Personally I dislike spending a significant amount of time in the casino while on vacation and my financial situation has changed so I prefer just paying out of pocket. For the other cruise line it was around 10k passing through the casino per free 7 day cruise offered, which playing blackjack you barely lose anything.
@@MarkSibthorpe-yg8zuIf you play on slot machines only, yes. But since you do not always lose, you can bet the money you win to get more points per initial buck. But I guess that would hardly pay off.

@RoyalCaribbeanBlog is this something new? I went in 2022, had the refreshment package and didnt know about this. Edit: was actually told my package wouldnt work for it. Thanks for responding 🙂
So the casino trick assuming $4 per point, if you were to loose every game, it comes out to $10,000. 7 day cruises with inside cabins are what around the $2,000 range? Seems like gambling for the free cruise is a high risk move.
Royal hasn't added the excursion I want @ Belize yet. I saw it was offered on other cruises. There are only like 4 excursions I could get now and don't like any of them. Do you think they'll offer more? My sailing is in 3 months.
Fixed price Izumi menu was actually WAY too much food and a complete waste of money for us (despite the half-size sushi rolls). Definitely a la carte next time.
$5 per point in slots. I have 10,457 points so $52285 through machine but have only lost or spent out of pocket $387. In return I have 3 cruise booked included a Sky Class suite and receive 1-2 monthly free sailing offers where I only have to pay tax. Plus the free annual cruise coming up. So it is a risk but can pay off.
@10:00 So, to get a free cruise, I'd need to spend (at $3-5 per point) somewhere between $7500 and $12,500 to qualify? Don't see the margin there. Even with the "free" drinks in the casino, paying the couple hundred for the cabin and the drink package would be a better investment. Unless, of course, you're going to be gambling in the casino anyway, which we're _not._
Not exactly. We spent about $2500 total in September on Allure in the casino and both my husband and I reached Prime status. You just keep playing what you win back into the machine. It's not necessarily all out of pocket. If you put in $100 and win $1200, put that $1200 in winnings back in the machine. Keep doing that and, as long as your luck holds out, you'll earn Prime status with free cruises and free drinks without spending much out of pocket. We have taken 2 RC cruises already and have 3 more booked. All have been comped casino cruises earned with our $2500 out of pocket investment. These cruises include a Junior Suite and a Sky Class Aqua Theater Suite. Not bad for our small investment! You just have to hope your luck holds out in the casino!
Your scenario assumes a total loss. You're probably going to win money along the way, which means you have extra money to gamble. Remember, it's based on the money you're wagering, regardless of if it's your cash or money you won.
Your math isn’t right. We only spent about $500 and recycled our money (as in we never cashed out) so say we got $700 spent and we get cruise offers constantly and last year we went on 3 cruises just off the status we gained on our first cruise.
I disagree with having your sign and sail card on your phone. I'd much rather print it out and put it with my other documents. I never use my phone for my airline boarding pass either. Ive seen a couple of situation where the persons phone went dead and one guy dropped is phone and shattered it right in the airport. I know its convenient, but I refuse to rely on technology for important documents...

If you have an iPhone, your Set Sail Pass can be added to your Apple Wallet, which doesn’t need an active connection once added.
Just did that for my cruise this weekend!
the wathchlist will also email you when it goes up and encourages you to book
UP NEXT! WOO HOO HE SAID IT

always use a sreenshot saved as a file on the device and a print out buried in your backpack or purse (all tickets & ID)
did ya ever lose your phone? or drop it in the pool?
Go ahead, say never.... you need a new phone anyway!
@@MrKiwi13605 the wallet on your phone is not online... its stored in a secure enclave on the phone... The fact i can turn off all network access and still use, and see everything in my phones wallet, proves how wrong you are...
Has the chat feature always been free? I remember being annoyed that they wanted 2$ or something, but I might be misremembering
I can’t find the “watchlist” feature on the website. Is it only a feature on the US website? I am in the UK and automatically go to the UK website.
Starbucks at cafe promenade is including with a drink package? Would a Refreshment package work for this?
Yes
@RoyalCaribbeanBlog is this something new? I went in 2022, had the refreshment package and didnt know about this. Edit: was actually told my package wouldnt work for it. Thanks for responding 🙂
0:13: UP NEXT!
Where's this watchlist? I don't see it, is it only for Canada and the United States?
Screen Boarding Pass and Plane Boarding Passes.
Excelencia
How do I check my status for the casino? I gamble $100 a day on the cruise
When are you sailing in Icon?
Inaugural!
0:52 Is that Alfred Hitchcock?
I see Johnny Rocket for free in our future!
How so?
you can also add your set sail pass to your wallet if you have an iphone!!!
You can also save your set sail pass to your wallet if you have an iPhone 😊
So the casino trick assuming $4 per point, if you were to loose every game, it comes out to $10,000. 7 day cruises with inside cabins are what around the $2,000 range? Seems like gambling for the free cruise is a high risk move.
Correct, but I think the chances of losing every single bet is low. That isn't to say you'll make money, but I think you'll lose less than $10k
It’s not a price drop feature. It only tells you that the price is going up, so you better book now.
We live Izumi desserts
Watchlist doesnt work here in Australia
Royal hasn't added the excursion I want @ Belize yet. I saw it was offered on other cruises. There are only like 4 excursions I could get now and don't like any of them. Do you think they'll offer more? My sailing is in 3 months.
heres a tip
OUCH!!! #Elizabeth
There is option to save set sail pass to mobile wallet…
Set sail pass download to your iPhone wallet
I add my set sail pass to my Apple Wallet. Surely droids can do same thing.
Ovation of the seas cafe promenade does not serve those Starbucks drinks, you are forced to go to La Patisserie and pay for them. Bummer.
Fixed price Izumi menu was actually WAY too much food and a complete waste of money for us (despite the half-size sushi rolls). Definitely a la carte next time.
Im a pinnacle princess
What the heck is powder sunscreen!?!?
I cannot imagine having enough time off work to take 3-4 cruises per year!
title says 10 tricks.. only 7 tricks given.. get it together Matt!!!
…or you can drop your Set Sail Pass into your Apple Wallet if you have an iPhone
I don't trust my phone. I print everything.
$3.00 = 1 point and you need 2,500 points. That's a lot of money.
@@craigjhart That's great. You won a lot of money and got the cruises.
So if I gamble $7500-$12000 I can get a free cruise and free drinks? Sounds like a deal
Assuming you lost every single bet, yes. Thats not likely

Please slow down a bit while tells us older folks about your blog- though TH-cam . The way you say(ROal) (Caribbean) 😮😢
Spend 12k on gambling and get a free cruise for 2 that youd spend $2k on? Yeah... dont sign me up for that one...
@@RoyalCaribbeanBlog If I did it, it would be a total loss.
@@christinaarmstrong4482 You're assuming luck.
