For me I find you’re a very authentic person and the vids have more to do with sharing than being about you per se. As a keen cyclist I watch heaps of cycling stuff on TH-cam and much of it is meh. I am turning 50 next year. I have been watching your videos for almost a year because I am back cycling after 26 years and it's inspiring. So much has been changed on bicycles and cycling techniques. Since I restarted cycling I always have an argument with my wife (such as leaving early in the morning, waking her up, no time for weekend morning cuddles etc) I really envy you. You are either stubborn or very lucky. At least one ride every morning and 4-5 hrs of editing. How are you coping? Keep riding. Keep posting.
I’m glad I could inspire you to get out on your bike :) I think I am very lucky. My wife sleeps like a rock and she usually doesn’t care when I get home later in the day. 🤪 I try and make sure the time I do spend with her is quality and I don’t get distracted.

I use an Insta360 AcePro, and I handhold or use bite mount for everything. I prefer the flexibility of being able to point the camera in whatever direction I choose. I signed up for the 10 hour group :)

Keep up the good work. Building a YT channel can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Try to keep to an upload schedule if possible as the YT algo seems to love that. See if you can race Chris Miller to that silver play button, which he wants soooooooo bad. :D
Yes! I do find it very rewarding. One of the things I love is it’s something I’ve built from scratch myself. I’m pretty proud of that, and it’s one of the big motivators for me. Haha, I’m a very long way from the silver play button, I’d be happy to even get there.

Love your content. I have never heard of a TH-camr shared how much revenue they make through TH-camr. Also, the products you review are top quality and you can see its products you personally like using and not the revenue being offered.
To be honest I don’t know if I’m doing this TH-cam thing ‘right’. But I like to just share what I think is interesting, and a big part of that is the behind the scenes TH-cam stuff (like revenue etc) I am quite lucky that I don’t rely on TH-cam or cycling for my income, so I get to be a bit more picky/choosey with what I show and also the products I use. I follow Rob on ridemedia as well, where you excell is that you engage with your community and that pays dividends. Thank you mate Unfortunately I wouldn’t say I have much advice or instruction to give apart from my own personal experience. Happy for you to DM me on Instagram or reach out on strava if you have any questions. Gear selection is specific to your riding style and also terrain; but in general I would say just run the easier gearing on the cassette so you can spin up hills. Plenty of science out there to show that higher cadence is more efficient for climbing. So keep on spinning!
Congrats on a huge progression of your channel this year! That’s quite an achievement while maintaining a full time job and home life. To be honest I thought the yt revenue would have been less than $6k pa. Based on your continued growth it could become a full time wage? I wonder how many subs/views you need to get an income of $100k for example.. could maybe get more sponsors? Nutrition, clothing and tech? Also, I’d be very interested to follow your training for peaks challenge - all the best with that!!
I’ve done quick math back of the envelope and you’d probably need about 100k subscribers to go full time comfortably. Bearing in mind that brand deals and sponsorships totally eclipse ad revenue by a significant margin. With that being said, I don’t rely on TH-cam for money, therefore I don’t need to take on brand deals or sponsorships if I don’t feel like it. I hope that lets you know that I’ll try and be authentic as possible on this channel.
Haha I actually wrote a full script for this and had planned on making a video about it…just haven’t had the time yet. Sounds like something people want though
Love the content, can be a bit depressing watching how fast you can ride and talk to the camera at the same time. Also training for 3 peaks, and live local enough to you, would love to ride sometime

Josh always very informative videos, all the best for 2025.im 71 yrs old ,have a marlin 6 xxl trek mtb i've ridden 34,000 k in 4yrs ,i've put a hub motor on it and road tyres as im 114 kg 6.5 tall,motor helps with hills and headwind ,i'm coming down JAN from Nelson bay to ride from Ashfield where im staying -to Parramatta first day, then to harbour bridge and opera house day 2 and then to cape solander day 3 all inspired by your videos. any tips for cape solander ride .
Hi Garry! Thanks for sharing your story and telling me about your bike. If you don’t mind riding on cycle path instead of road, I’d recommend riding on the bike path from Cooks River onto Grand Parade and then Captain Cook Bridge. Will be a bit safe off the roads and also very scenic.
I done TH-cam videos before and dedicated 1yr of weekly videos to see how it would go….algorithm definitely favoured my weekly videos especially after 1yr. After a while the pressure of doing the videos and editing all night made me feel that I wasn’t enjoying the experiences of the event I was attending + plus biking accident +2 babies 🤕😂. I love filming holidays and tech but there expensive and TH-cam hadn’t paid me a cent, but my biking videos were popular …I’ve now deleted everything but my popular biking video reviews in an attempt to restart so people don’t unsubscribe because of my random and vast library of old videos but time is now very hard to manage with work, study, training and kids so yeah….maybe when I’ve free time again 😳
Love your content, style, videography, audio …you’ve got what it takes to be big and although your earning minimum don’t forget each year people still watch old videos so it’s like a multiplier affect…next year atleast 20k or more I bet

Hey mate, I checked out your channel. Pretty extensive videos you’ve uploaded. Cycling groups is a bit tricky, I suspect most would require you to be over 18. Routes: M7 cycle path, parramatta park or Lane Cove National Park. All the best

Unfortunately I wouldn’t say I have much advice or instruction to give apart from my own personal experience. Happy for you to DM me on Instagram or reach out on strava if you have any questions.
Gear selection is specific to your riding style and also terrain; but in general I would say just run the easier gearing on the cassette so you can spin up hills. Plenty of science out there to show that higher cadence is more efficient for climbing. So keep on spinning!

Congrats on a huge progression of your channel this year! That’s quite an achievement while maintaining a full time job and home life. To be honest I thought the yt revenue would have been less than $6k pa. Based on your continued growth it could become a full time wage? I wonder how many subs/views you need to get an income of $100k for example.. could maybe get more sponsors? Nutrition, clothing and tech?
Also, I’d be very interested to follow your training for peaks challenge - all the best with that!!
I’ve done quick math back of the envelope and you’d probably need about 100k subscribers to go full time comfortably. Bearing in mind that brand deals and sponsorships totally eclipse ad revenue by a significant margin.
With that being said, I don’t rely on TH-cam for money, therefore I don’t need to take on brand deals or sponsorships if I don’t feel like it. I hope that lets you know that I’ll try and be authentic as possible on this channel.

Josh always very informative videos, all the best for 2025.im 71 yrs old ,have a marlin 6 xxl trek mtb i've ridden 34,000 k in 4yrs ,i've put a hub motor on it and road tyres as im 114 kg 6.5 tall,motor helps with hills and headwind ,i'm coming down JAN from Nelson bay to ride from Ashfield where im staying -to Parramatta first day, then to harbour bridge and opera house day 2 and then to cape solander day 3 all inspired by your videos. any tips for cape solander ride .

If you don’t mind riding on cycle path instead of road, I’d recommend riding on the bike path from Cooks River onto Grand Parade and then Captain Cook Bridge. Will be a bit safe off the roads and also very scenic.

Haha, I actually bought a ticket a few months ago when I was drunk at a brewery 🥲
I done TH-cam videos before and dedicated 1yr of weekly videos to see how it would go….algorithm definitely favoured my weekly videos especially after 1yr.
After a while the pressure of doing the videos and editing all night made me feel that I wasn’t enjoying the experiences of the event I was attending + plus biking accident +2 babies 🤕😂.
I love filming holidays and tech but there expensive and TH-cam hadn’t paid me a cent, but my biking videos were popular …I’ve now deleted everything but my popular biking video reviews in an attempt to restart so people don’t unsubscribe because of my random and vast library of old videos but time is now very hard to manage with work, study, training and kids so yeah….maybe when I’ve free time again 😳
Love your content, style, videography, audio …you’ve got what it takes to be big and although your earning minimum don’t forget each year people still watch old videos so it’s like a multiplier affect…next year atleast 20k or more I bet
Hey mate, thanks for sharing your personal experience and insights. I have no background in videography or video editing, but I do consume a lot of content. So to some degree I can ‘feel’ when something looks/sounds good (if that makes sense).

Would there be any cycling groups you would recommend me to join or any routes you recommend. Thanks for the great cycling content!

Cycling groups is a bit tricky, I suspect most would require you to be over 18.
Routes: M7 cycle path, parramatta park or Lane Cove National Park.

Cycling influencers show themselves too much. I orefer to see the scenery or road travel than someones talking face .
