Can't decide if it is a 57 or a 58? Trunk chrome/back bumper & v symbol on the front fenders are 57 Belvedere. Grill and sport tone trim are 58 Belvedere. Also chrome fins above headlights are from 57. But still a wonderful car. Thanks
The reason for that is the car used in the movie Christine has that mix of parts, which gave the car a unique presence on the screen even as opposed to real-world examples of the same make & model when it hit theaters in 1983. Some will say it was down to availability of parts during shooting but really, they built several cars and they all had that look. Imo its quite sinister and intimidating and that's exactly what it was made to be. You do see this sort of thing in the wild, too, with these cars while they're daily driven. My '77 Cadillac has the rear bumper from a 1978, a replacement done long before I owned her. '77's bumper and tail lights are 1-year only and resemble the also 1-year lantern tail lights of the 1969 Cadillacs. But like 1969 has the 1970 Cadillacs, 1977 shared a lot of parts with 1978 and 1979. Another 1-year piece is the "skeleton" crest for 1977.
To much of this points to it being a 57. I own both a 57 & 58. I picked up to many 57 clues. Looks like they only changed out the grill, front & rear lights and hood to create a 58. Also the hubs are 58.
@@Mike-0201 Could be. "V" on front fenders, smaller spears above headlights and trunk lid chrome around keyhole are from 57s. Side spears with sport-tone are also from a 58. Would hate to put money on either year without VIN.
The ‘57 and ‘58 Belvedere sport coupes with Sportone trim are very pretty cars. Some say the ‘58 is the high water mark for The Forward Look styling era in general. This Christine clone has parts from both years, not all that unusual actually, since builders undoubtedly find they need to use whatever parts they can get their hands on, and most viewers are not familiar enough with these cars to know ( or care about) the differences.
Ah, yes, Christine, one of the greatest villain movie cars around. Beautiful classic.
Absolutely!!!
All we need is that soundtrack

Yeah that’s a tough call. When I saw it I knew I had to make a video of it. It was a super cool car. Thanks for watching

Thanks for the info. Learn something new everyday.
So, there was never a "pure build" in any of the original Christine movie cars?
