My Dad bought a brand new fifty eight two door. It was showing rust within the first six months. He always said it was made from old soup cans. Good luck.
I just found this channel and playlist. I started to watch the abbreviated version of this build, but I subbed and started watching the playlist. 1958 Fury is my second favorite 50s car. My first is the 1958 Impala. Both are famous movie cars. The Impala is from American Graffiti. I’m jealous of your ability to take on this huge project. You should be proud. It’s wonderful to see these great American cars resurrected and made drivable and beautiful again.
I was just learning how to make videos early on. So I apologize in advance for some of the sound issues. And yes o also really love the 58 Chevy! Built one for a friend a long time ago.
This is going to be awesome, Subbed!!!, ( Speaking of Furys , Interesting Story from Montreal Canada, 1965-1999, ) Joseph Vaillancourt's 1963 4 door Plymouth Fury, driven as a cab since the mid-1960s, reached 2,609,698 km (1,621,591 miles), when it was struck and totaled by a truck running a red light, Nov 1999 ( he was unhurt) the car went through five or six 225 slant six engines.and is considered the highest mileage car in North America. I was in that car a few times, in the late 80s , it's since been restored costing 30K , using 2 parts cars for and is now in a Quebec museum ,
Wow looks like rust mites holding hands lol, Its like the guy said in the movie you can't polish a turd, haha! But that depends on how skilled you are and how much you love restoring old cars. looking forward in seeing the finished restoration. take care stay health and keep up the good work. Cheers!
Great to see someone with so much enthusiasm bringing one of these cars back. They are getting harder to find with the passage of time, and you can't beat the style and personality of these vehicles. Can't wait to watch the next video 👍
From Australia. Years ago we would find cars in far better shape at the rubbish dump. Good luck with the project. Didn't know these came with a side valve six. My dad's grand dad bought a new 1957 Chrysler Royal, side valve six, two speed push button I think it was called PowerFlite auto transmission.
Years ago i saw up close a restomod christine where he had the trim along the sides was actually like a decal, it looked amazing and brand new but it is nothing like an original, good luck building this, definitely going to be worth it, such a beaut

Y'know, the fact you have the radio, that's the part that sortof amazed me Figured someone would have filched that due to its popularity in the Christine movie. That floor is definitely a Flintsone special. I'll have to face that at some point with my 1958 Edsel, affectionately named 'Trouble', but seeing your progress? Well, it's inspiring me to keep at it. Holy crap dude, you must constantly need a wheel barrow with which to carry those massive balls. Thanks for making me feel better about my own rusty projects. Just subscribed.
The first time I ever saw one of these, it was a station wagon. It was in a field rusted, upside down and prety well stripped. However, the body looked more solid than this one. That was in Northern California in 1972 and I was about nine.
Nice to se someone trying to save someting that far gone. Tho the windos are very nice. You earned mi suscription. I wish you look. I want to see how this proyect goes!

good luck its a ambitious project. i did a similar project with a 1967 charger and it took me a year to do a full body swap with a lincoln towncar but it was worth it and the car is a car again and it was saved. how do you eat a elephant one bite at a time.
to fight the rust on this car, after repair, in every hidden and hollow rooms (behind bumper, inside doors, wings, hoods, between carpet and metal...) put grease or oil with an extender (if you cannot reach with a paintbrush- to be repeated) instead of paint. grease/fat is the only thing very efficient against rust. handyman experience during 35 years fighting rust.

It gets to the point that it start doesn’t make sense to build a car that is too far gone. I wish you the best on your build but how are you going to build the strength and get the body true and build frame sound?
I'm building a 57 belvedere 4 door hardtop. I'll buy ANY spare parts you have!!!!! I don't care what condition! My car is is HORRIBLE SHAPE. The bottom 4-6 inches of the body (from bumper to bumper) has rotted away. I mean this LITERALLY when I say the ONLY thing connecting the front half of the body to the rear half is the roof skin! I need any parts I can get!
I would have tried the " Show me" first.
With "Bad to the Bone"playing.
I would have tried Market Place ....first. Free isnt always better.

workmanship was awful in the late fifties. My aunt went to open the door of hers and the handle fell off lol.
Even worse Chryslers of that era were made from high nickel Japanese scrap steel from WW2.
