    When going over the GW bridge. Their is no way to ease the congestion of traffic. If you come in during the morning or evening their is a 20-30 minutes getting over the bridge. As for the position lane you are in at 9:27 you are fine their but if you are getting off to an ext. you should be one lane over where you are now. Just to make it easy on you if you decide to get off.
    But if you just going straight toward I-95N the lane you is is prefect to pass the traffic on the right hand side of you.

    If you had a truck GPS you could enter height, weight, width and it would give you a route compatible with those restrictions and you wouldn't have to guess what the alternatives are.

    Great show as always! Good to hear about the lining up the bulldog (center of hood) trick works when u go big, I was wondering about that. I learned that tip from my pops as a kid with an old late 70s chevy blazer - before they miniaturized the things! ☺

    I know you are a TV/movie buff. Here is some Soprano's trivia. If you go home the same way down 95/NJTP on your right after Newark airport there are a bunch of oil tanks. Those were from the opening credits of The Soprano's. I love these long trucking vids. Thank. Mark

    You like the Bulldog: The British started calling Maok Trucks Bulldogs during WWI. Here is an excerpt from the Mack website. (A soap carving is more commonly accepted as truth)
    1932 - Early in 1932, Alfred Fellows Masury, Maok's
    Chief Engineer, was admitted to the hospital for an operation. Masury
    was one of those individuals who wasn't used to his hands being idle for
    any period of time. During his recuperation in the hospital, Masury
    decided to carve a bulldog. (Some rumors indicate that he carved the
    first bulldog from a bar of soap; other rumors indicate the first was
    carved from wood.)
    Whether the first bulldog hood ornament was soap or wood,
    we do know that shortly after his release from the hospital, he did in
    fact carve a bulldog in wood.
    Masury applied for and received a patent for his design; that Bulldog design has adorned Maok trucks ever since!

    Back in the 80's driving for Carl Subler Trucking and Schneider Transport I went into the City every week and sometimes would deliver all the way out to River Head.LI. This was in a 13'6" dry van 45 and 48' long. All the low underpasses wasn't no picnic, today with 52' trailers no thank you. I sure love Texas and the 11 western States much better... Hope you don't get robbed over the weekend laying over !!!

    great idea with the bulldog, i heard about that, a long time ago, and some people swear by it, some people actually buy a mascot and install it on their vehicle, to guide them.

    The Mack Bulldog has been on Mack trucks since 1932. The Bulldog originated from WW 1 British troops who said the front of the Mack AC model they and the US used during the war looked like a Bulldog.

  • @JrFlexing909
    @JrFlexing909 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh yea, When you going through the Cross Bronx Exp, Most of the trucks are on the middle and left lane because more of the entering and exiting lanes are on the right where all the cars be cutting you off all most 80% of the time. When the traffic clears you move over to the middle lane.

    At 13:00 the driver in this video says "Welcome To Manhattan." When did they move the GW Bridge out of the South Bronx ??? I 95 is the "Cross Bronx Expressway." !!!

    • @danrossell6375
      @danrossell6375 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Eagle One between the GWB and the Cross Bronx Expressway is the Cross Manhattan Expressway. That is where you are going under all the buildings, between the Hudson River and the Harlem River.

    Went across that bridge many a time.
    In all my years I've only seen them ticketing trucks in the left lane once or twice through there and they mostly seemed to be targeting local drivers who knew better as opposed to otr guys.
    Think of the mess it would cause ( worse then it already is) if they started yanking trucks out of the left lane and finding a place to park!

    Early 1970s, George Washington bridge,, Thomas E Dewey (governor of N.Y. 1943 to 1955, Republican presidential nominee 1944 and 1948) decided to stop and turn around in the middle of the GW bridge. Instantly recognized, people behind him stopped, blocking oncoming traffic. Some got out, halped him turn around. Perks of being famous.

    Ok, the video got boring after awhile. I did enjoy reliving the bridge thru your eyes. By the way how much does it cost to cross now the bridge nowadays It was $12 in my days. I haven't crossed that bridge since the mid 80's. I remember me an a driver out of Alabama crossing the bridge one night. We were having a good time talking to another driver, until we caught up with him. He was hauling explosives.

    Сереж, что-то все хуже разрешение (качество) видео - я так понял сложности с передачей большого объема. А ведь твои путешествия лучше смотреть минимум на 720p с экраном не менее 22 дюйма - масса удовольствия.Удачи !!!

    • @HHTV60
      @HHTV60  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Владимир Топ даже в 720 на 404 точек видео получилось более 700 Мб. Ушло масса времени чтобы его загрузить на Трубу. В последнее время я обычно делаю 480р но тут слишком уж большой объем получился, даже после редакции и сжатия.

      I like them . No chance you’ll have to fight off fatigue/ drowsiness when in NYC. Now when you’re done for the day I promise you’ll collapse once the adrenaline wears off. I think my first run into NYC took a few years off of my life. Also 99% of your trucks ignore the no trucks in the left lane signs. It’s impossible to stop that volume of traffic to write a ticket.

    Sergei, When in Russia were you ever in Voskresensk? That is where my wife is from!

      +Charles Tait My father was born and grew up near Lukhovitsy Moscow Oblast, We went there once a year for a vacation when I was in high school. My uncle had an old bike and I toured lots of small towns over there. Voskresensk was a bit too far, but it's in the same area. The house we stayed in was right on the Ryazanskoe Schosse (main highway between Moscow and Ryazan). I remember sitting on the bench next to the highway with my FED-3 camera and taking pictures of passing trucks and buses, and dreaming of becoming a 'long haul trucker' one day. The dream came true 27 years later ... in Canada. Who would have thought? ;) ;)

      Dylan Smiley pretty sure it wouldve been 87 although its been a while since I've been through there as I try to avoid it ;) I'm guessing the Parkway you ended up on was the Hutchinson Pkwy or one of the others around there like the Saw Mill etc.But from I 87 it is pretty easy to end up on the hutchinson/Merrit Parkway.It's a constantly changing mess up there though and with a truck I only ever used a GPS once and that was enough.Even a truck one can be off enough to screw things up.I learned real quick to stick to maps and planning a route.
