Very nice job, James. I do believe this may be my second EDF purchase, we will see. My new Red Freewing Avanti S 80MM EDF - PNP just arrived from Cary, IL yesterday! I love shopping local, lol. When I bought my Eflite P-51D 1.2 PNP from Motion RC, I was so anxious to get it, that I drove from Plainfield, IL all the way up to Cary, IL to pick it up in person. It's a 120-mile ride round trip, but it was worth the drive! When I ordered my new Avanti the other day, I had them ship it FREE, and it was here in less than 48-hours. I am used to the speed and handling of a prop-driven jet, because back in the day, about 25 years ago, I used to fly the heck out of my built-up Great Planes F-14 Tomcat. I had that airplane clocked on police radar at our airfield doing 115 MPH. I am confident that I will have great success with the Avanti S as a EDF Trainer, but one that I can also have some fun with too. It looks like it's going to be a blast. Hopefully, i'll get it in the air this season. I still have three other planes sitting in my hangar that I built this past winter, and they still have not had their maiden flights yet. So many new planes and so little time, lol.

Look to be tail heavy when u take a turn your nose comes up that will make your landing faster with that jet u need to move the battery forward just a hair to keep that nose down in a turn

I did not have a Gyro in this one George. I am not sure it will matter. In this video I got lucky as I was pretty hot on landing, cut the power and she stayed down. But in other flights with this one you really want to get her slow in a controlled throttle decent to really knock out any ballooning chance.
Do you use flaps for landing? I heard from two pilots at my local flying field that said they were experiencing problems with roll control using ailerons when the flaps were deployed.

Question James do you have vecro on the bottom side of the battery and the top side of the tray to prevent it from sliding while in Air or you just really really tighten the vecro strap so the battery doesn't move??
@@MotionRC Ahh good stuff when I order the 70mm F-16 again I gotta look out for that piece so I don't have to use vecro under the battery and on the tray.... But very very nice flight that bird is really nice in the air glad you were able to bring her back down safely
@@kingrc6865 velcro underneath would probably be even better with the velcro strap too, but ever since I got freewing jets and they come with that piece I have always used them. Most if the time I don't even glue it down, it is anti slip so it holds pretty firm
@@MotionRC Makes sense I would hate for a battery to move in the tray because you think you tighten down the strap but it wasn't fully tight so now you have a moving CG and an unstable plane smh
We released a TSB to all owners, have taken care of everyone we can who had an issue no fault of their own and are committed to that. She's a great flyer
I flew it on a 5000mAh 6s, we show where it is during the talking portion, hard to describe on a comment. But just CG here where I showed and you'll be all good on the F-18

Hey James, were you flying with a gyro? I'm having difficult time with ballooning on landings and was curious if a gyro would help.
I did not have a Gyro in this one George. I am not sure it will matter. In this video I got lucky as I was pretty hot on landing, cut the power and she stayed down. But in other flights with this one you really want to get her slow in a controlled throttle decent to really knock out any ballooning chance.
There definitely a technique in a short field. If you can’t do a vertical turn, don’t bother cuz I can’t. YET

I have a little foam/rubber mat that comes with the Freewing models glued to the tray under the battery. Then the velcro strap around it
