Additional Terminal at Loco Works will definitely help entire Chennai North to have a common terminal thus preventing total congestion in Central and Egmore. Amalgamation of these two stations will help to proceed North and South of India at a single railway station.
A new additional railway terminal for Chennai is long overdue. Villivakkam and its environs will provide an ideal location with connectivity to Inner Ring Road and highway. Proximity to large residential areas in and around Anna Nagar, Ambattur industrial area and Red hills corridor will be a boon. Hope this pterminal project becomes a reality sooner than later adding a feather to the cap of the Chennai Division of Southern Railway and to the metropolitan city of Chennai in Southern India.
@csunil9963 Thank you for your comment and well analysed insights. I fully agree with you on your thoughts in this regard. Thank you once again for your comment.
1. Tamilnadu express, GT Express both can be operated from Tambaram as starting station and terminating station. Similarly Jaipur exress, coromedal express can be operated from Tambaram.
There should be a train from Tambaram to Amritsar on Daily Basis starting from Tambaram at 10am and reach Amritsar at 6 am on third day. Consisting One Full1st AC coach, three AC 2 tier coach, Five 3 Tier AC Coach, two general coach, two Luggage cum Guard coach, one Pantry and Eight Sleeper class coach.
To the best decision is to develop Tiruvelore if make it then sense if put track on the metro train to connect Sriperumbudur via overhead lines because most of the place from Tiruvellor to Sriperumbudur have more space like Mannur forest crossing this much easier
One new superfast Train called Sri Ram express from Tambaram to Ayodiya can be introduced on thrice a week. With all classes of coach with pantry and Generator coach..
The Existing Ganga Cauvery express train can be renamed as Ganga - Rameshwaram express and can start from Rameshwaram and terminate at Banaras kasi on Daily Basis.
@messidhoni6822 Thank you for your comment. I guess, in time, Chennai Central will also be re-developed after proper planning and including the concerns of all stakeholders.
@@Scitechbuzz1 oh..actually major indian Railway station also redeveloped like Mumbai Csmt redevelopment work is started..I'm from Kolkata, here Howrah Railway Station one of the major Railway station in india redevelopment work not start but others small junction Railway station redevelopment work is started in west bengal..if possible make video on redevelopment of Howrah Railway Station 🙏🙏
New Train Terminus at Villivakkam, is being planned by the Central Govt and not by the State Govt. Hence, you can take for granted that Railway administration will take all steps to ensure that train commuters reach the new terminus either by suburban trains or by metro trains and they will not allow the train passengers to depend upon the TN State Govt as they are not capable of either planning the things meticulously or implement the same same for the benefit of train passengers.
@venkatakrishnantk9288 Thank you for your comment and views. The main problem with mega projects is availability of land to undertake such projects. And with India being a true democracy, the land acquisition becomes a huge problem because of which many projects get delayed - and some even have to get shelved. In the case of this project, railway land is readily available - only internal changes (within the organization) of location for a new loco shed, if planned, will be required. Thank you once again for your comment and insights.
@enmohan2573 Thank you for your comment and insight. I agree with you on the part of "efforts will be made to ensure that train commuters will reach the new terminal". Thank you once again for your comment.
Chennai central is the gate way of Tamil nadu next to it a gutter is flowing called Coovam - If you want to enhance the gutter should be closed and make it as a road or dredge it and convert it as a clean water canal by erecting wall on either side and plant trees - K R Subramanian
@jayalakshmiramasubramanian7405 Thank you for your comment and views on improvement of the Koovam or Coovam River. Adding to your reply, allow me to write a short history of this interesting river. Throughout recorded history of the region, Koovam River has played an important part. It was regarded as a Holy River with clean running water in the Saivite Puranas - it has its own holy book named "Koova Puranam" and is mentioned in a Thirugnanasambandar's song of 7th Century also. It is named after Koovam Village, situated on its banks. Originally mentioned to have originated from the ground near Pullalur, it is now a tributary of Kosasthalaiyar River (a 72 km long river) and has now become a monsoon-fed river, meaning that more water used to flow during the monsoon. Through out Chennai's history, Koovam River has played a very important part - including the decision of British to establish their first administrative fort along its bank - Fort St.George. Even Tippu Sultan fought a battle "The Battle of Pollilur" and defeated the British at Pullalur (near the origin of Koovam River). During the Great Famine of Madras Province (1876 to 1878), in order to save the people of Madras, the Governor of Madras constructed a 8km long canal joining the Koovam River with Adyar River - it is known as the Buckingham Canal. During all this time, until the 1940's, Koovam River had good flowing sweet water and was a lifeline to Madras City and surrounding region. All important city developments and construction activities, even until 1968 (during India's First Industrial Trade Fair in 1968, the Anna nagar Tower was built and later the suburb of Annanagar developed around it) - all happened along the Koovam River - at Naduvankarai, a village on the northern bank of Koovam River. This river is so important that when Andhra Pradesh State was being formed, originally they wanted it to extend upto the northern bank of Koovam River (and Tamil nadu was supposed to start from southern bank) with Koovam River to be the border between the 2 states - later after discussions, current borders were formed. During the 1940's, in order to provide more water to Madras, Kesavaram Dam was built which diverted the sweet water to Poondi Lake, instead of allowing it to flow opening into the sea. This is why there is so much less water in Koovam and it does not flow well and most of it almost stagnent. With rising population, much of the sewage and industrial waste got diverted to Koovam - resulting in the present condition. A lot of government plans were executed and crores of rupees spent over the decades after independence to clean it water and beautify its banks, but so far not a success. I thank you for your valuable insight and agree with the same.
@raomsr8576 Thank you for your comment, observation and appreciation. Yes, Central and Egmore will continue to be prominent railway terminals with a large amount of passengers being served. But a new way will be found, if new problems arise - after-all as that old Tamil movie song goes, "Madras, Nalla Madras.....", that song sums it all up in a nice way! :-) Thank you once again for your comment.
Opening of additional Train Terminus at Villivakkam, Chennai, is a happy news for Chennai residents as Indian Railways need not have to depend upon the mercy of the Dravidian party leaders for land acquisition for the new train terminus. Chennai residents will feel much more happy if the Railway administration runs additional train services from the new terminus, as most of the trains currenntly operated, are becoming full even 2months in advance and the tatkal tickets are becoming full within 10minutes after opening tatkal booking of train tickets. If the Railway administration increases the number of trains from the new terminus in such a way that even the last minute train passenger gets confirmed tickets like passengers travelling in western countries.
@enmohan2573 Thank you for your comment and deep and carefully thought insight. I agree. I once again thank you for your comment and elaborate insight.
Time will tell the result. To me it's a bad choice .. no proper road network around this place .. avadi or Ambattur would have been better .. new Byapanahalli terminal in Bengaluru is a case in point ..
