A few things to note: 1- always open/close disconnect with your left hand. There’s a reason the lever is on the right side. This way your body isn’t in front of the panel when you energize or de-energize it. I’ve seen them blow and it’s isn’t pretty, especially if you’re standing in front of it. 2- check those compressor terminals and ohm out the windings 3- open up that electrical panel and tighten the wires on the breaker - many times a slightly loose wire will cause heat, tripping the breaker Great videos man, keep up the great work!
Thanks for that info man! That 3-phase compressor doesn't need a run cap. Still attending a class in an HVAC school and they don't mentioned that, or maybe they just forgot.
I would measure for voltage drop across those contacts with it pulled in and loaded up. Anything over 1 volt should be replaced. I usually do if the scale switches from the mV to V scale. That will usually tell you if the contacts are pitted. Won't tell you if the contactor is mechanically sticking or dragging though. A visual inspection is a good idea too. The three pole contactor is the most common reason I find for a tripped breaker. That or a blown fuse in a fused disco. Sometimes the single phasing will overload the breaker and trip it before the IOL shuts the motor down.
Thank you so much for the videos you make I’ve learned so much about HVAC from you and it helped me land my first job in the field All I can say is thank you again and we miss your vids
This guy and Word of Advice tv are the two channels I watch 99.9% of the time! Both are amazing techs! Good luck with your journey! Ac Service Tech LLC is also a very good channel to watch too!
In my opinion, been in the business 30 plus years, That is the type of call where I just go ahead an replace the part. Zach definitely seems to be one of the most honest guys I have seen out there , but when you are dealing with the commercial side, the $$ amount is so minor that it shouldn't matter on an item like that. It will take a minimum of 2-3 weeks to get approval. More than likely you will get a call back in that 2-3 weeks, Time is money, and the amount of travel time to the job, then getting up to the roof and accessing the equipment is time!! Just Change it.!!
I’ve learned to never assume power is coming in on the top of the disconnect…. Which works till you go to pull a fuse as the bottom end will always be hot
since that middle leg was a possibility of not getting good contact that caused the tripped breaker, would doing a voltage drop while unit is running help verify anything?
I haven't had them or seen them in a few years. But I remember when damn earwig bugs would get in contacts and get smashed when contact closed and they would prevent the power from making lol. Kinda miss them calls, they was easy 😂
Hello friend, I have a question, if you could help me please, my question is the following: I have a two-story house, each floor is 1000 square feet and the height of each floor is 18 feet. My question: How can I calculate how many frigorias I need for my house? My question. The thing is that many air conditioning brands only give calculations for ceiling heights of 9 feet and they say that if they are more feet high the calculation is different but they don't say how I've been trying to find an answer for weeks and there isn't one and I would like an air packge unit for the whole house, my question in summary would be how should I calculate the frigories of my house by the height of my house which is too high
Who need approval to remplace a part in Miami ?? ...lol ..the owner right away , is so god dam hot in here and i need that ac running ...me ok well sir that gonna cost you $2k you've the magnetic contact and the compressor both dead , the owner wait what ?? Whit that money i can buy a new system,.. Me not sir a new unit like this go to cost you at least 6k ..the owner ohh man i love how this hot feel right now 😂😂😂
You’d be surprised how quick you get approval when you leave the system off. Tell them that you suspect that the contractor is bad and you don’t feel comfortable leaving the system on in that condition. WHY should you have to wait, chase down the right person, then drive back there again to replace a simple part. This is not being a prick, it’s being a realist. Your time and effort are valuable, others ( who are willing to pay ) are waiting. You’re not at their beck and call !!!!

Check disconnect with a thermal imager. The contacts may look good, but will heat up and trip the breaker.

I would have replaced the contactor , cleaned the condenser, and took CFM amp readings 😃🤷🏻♂️
Client needs to give approval or you will not get paid for spares. That's why Zak qoute for repairs

Check compressor terminals. Could have a loose\burnt wire. Takes two seconds. Ps what shoes you rocking? Thinking about switching out of work boots
Thumbs UP! Thanks for taking us along.
Haha, perfection sticker there shop is 20mins from our shop interesting seeing they service stuff down in TN I live in northern KY btw.
I would have pulled the cover off the contactor and checked the contacts.... guess it doesn't matter if they replace it anyways... nice veto bag!
I like the tool box you said we're going to got it bellow on the description but I didn't find it yet
Great Video. Thank you for sharing. Does 3 phase Condenser fan Motor and Blower fan Motor have Capacitor ?
No
Hello Zach, greetings from Cuba, your videos are very good and instructive.
Haven’t seen any videos in awhile

My new favorite channel!
That's a sweet case with the probes
Well done Zac, i look forward to the next follow up vid 👍 Au
You can remove the contractor faceplate to check for pitted plates

@@AllTattedUp13 ants is what I see a lot of the time. The buzzing talks to them I think.
Making me jealous with the wireless stuff 😅
Probes suck homie. Stick with the fieldpiece digital guages. I have a set of fp and yellow jacket probes and they just collect dust man. 😂
should add the appion charging T to that kit of yours
Great video 👌
Use some of that YT money and buy some upgraded multimeter leads with some alligator clip attachments
Zach have you considered a chest mounted gopro or something similar?
Are you going to be giving away those 3 veto bags that you mentioned in one of your shorts, if so, how can I enter the giveaway.
while they approve the field of the pieces. Did you do this review? And is there a refund when you do the repair?
Nice job bro like it
What brand was that little black pouch
Veto
What’s the brand/style of your work pants?

Manual D gives you the formula to calculate the cooling load.
What size is your inclosed trailer?
Loose lugs on breaker
What hive is that?

If you follow him for a long time, you will notice that he is not that kind of person. He value honesty and quality work in his customers.
I hope you're never put in a position of power.
@@ttaylor6185 no it’s not, he said it himself…. that’s contractor doesn’t look good . He’s acting under an abundance of caution
