This is why Finnish schools are better, they focus more on how a student finds himself/herself in this world and also teaching them subjects actively than passively rather than teaching them a lot of things that not all are useful. Because of this, students from Finland are more encouraged to go to school because of their current school system. Here, we basically compete for high grade marks causing a high number of students having depression and anxiety over projects and tests that doesn’t really measure intelligence and/or success and spend their whole teenage lives in schools rather than exploring the world and knowing what life really is at a young age than making them more like workers that doesn’t have anything else to do but to work. We should adapt Finland’s school system rather than following America’s common core which is deteriorating and basically making some students lives miserable because not all students are the same. “No two brains are the same”. We all have different ways to learn, different ways of thinking in and about this world.

It doesn't work in the real world if you want progress. That's why so many work abroad as maids and nurses because they couldn't elevate knowledge beyond what's provided in the country. Their qualifications don't meet the higher international standards. So adding fucking 2 years to school doesn't necessarily change for the better. I can tell you are a product of the low quality of this new system. You don't know a thing what education is at all.
I really think that what's more important is to change some of the subject in school to much more useful ones... like basic human rights, basic safety when there is an emergency, basic first aid... also add more topic on economic subject like basic stock market, the importance of saving and preparing for retirements, being financially independent, and other topics for them to be successful in life. All of these knowledge and information are very useful in everyday life after school. These are very helpful in being successful in life. And if the majority of the population is equipped with these knowledge... the country's economy will grow, poverty in the Philippines will be lessen. In addition of preparing for retirement... it's sad to say that majority of the Filipino doesn't do this. A lot of Filipinos work there whole life and when it's time for them to retire without a proper retirement plan in placed... they relay on their children for resources. And this mentality continues for every generations.

Correction: You ignore the fact that not everyone in the Philippines speaks Tagalog. Majority are Visayan speakers . Cebuano is a language not a dialect. There are also many languages in the Philippines. Imposing Tagalog on others is impractical and also a tad bit being culturally imperialistic.

You don't work in banks just graduating high school even in US or australia. That's bullshit myth. I'm in Australia and they require that you have enough years of experience in terms of customer service in order to work in their banks. Getting high school diploma doesn't cut it. Philippine Dep Ed still doesn't get it. The system needs to reform teachers and how learning is given to students. Cut out rote learning bull shit and embed methods that inspire innovation even as early as 5 years of age.

K to 12 program.. Bakit yung mga books sa program na ito ay hindi nagagamit ang sinusunod pa din ng mga teachers ay yung mga old books.. This program only designs to make Filipinos be able to work abroad much easier but not to develop self sufficiency and innovation within the country. Not only that, they freaking cost so much money and you're right they should've spent on this for retraining teachers and changing some method in curriculum. Over in Japan, students graduate high school at 16 and Finland also at 16. Both score very high in science and maths. Who the heck thought up of adding 2 more of those years for secondary level to supposedly boost up development and likelihood of getting international accreditation? It's the entire curriculum that needs working up dammit!
Yet after attaining college degrees, 21% of these graduates become unemployed. Kindly explain how effective it's been since we're still exporting these college grads as maids in other countries? Where are all the innovative entrepreneurs at out of this K-12 program?

Its just a waste of 2 years, Filipinos could hardly send their kids to school and yet they added 2 more years. We cant just let them work after their k to 12, once they experience working, they wont proceed their studies anymore, and should we aspiring our kids to finish k to 12 only? Is that the program of the govt that our kids would work in an undergrad status? Are we happy with that? Parents tried their best to send their kids to college and yet the govt only aspires that we be satisfied with k to 12 and allow them to work already. And for those who does not want this program, another 2 years burden for them just to finish college. Also pls be informed that even without k to 12, a 2nd year college level was also being accepted for a job, so what is the use of k to 12, for added income of Deped???

Right now, STEM talaga dapat ang kinuha mo. It may be okay sa ibang schools but state universities have become strict on this matter. but if you really want to become a nurse, they usually offer bridging programs that help you learn the competencies of STEM that you did not learn in HUMSS strand. Swerte nga kung STEM student ka kasi pwede kang puili nang kahit na anong course, however, sa ibang strands, kailngan pa nang bridging program which will unfortunately take up your summer vacation.
actually it depends on what you plan to do after college. Kung balak mo magtatrabaho sa hotels, restau then its better to take the TVET track under the "HOME ECONOMICS" strand, pero kung long term goal mo eh magtayo or magkaron ng sariling business, then you go for the academic track under the "BAM" strand

Teach them basic things that can help them from tax, human rights laws, how to cook and practical shits that need to be learn! Geometry: table skirting, finding the most optimal shapes, art, painting, animation, sports, game design Trigonometry: physics, civil engineering, architecture, light waves, music theory, music production, manufacturing Chemistry: medicine, knowing why you should not drink milk and juice at the same time, culinary arts History: To prevent past mistakes and not repeating them in the future, knowing why the country is what it is now, human society, culture, idea How can one be innovators if they don't have something to be motivated and inspired about? Taxes, human rights laws? They are taught in Social Studies/HeKaSi. Cooking? That is Home Economics/TLE/THE. Are you studying in the Philippines? Also, adding two years of education does equal success in some way, because K-12 graduates don't need to go to college. They will also be more competitive worldwide. A high school graduate of the old system is equivalent to only Grade 10 or 11 in other countries.

I agree this program is stupid to begin with. I believe what you're saying is that the curriculum must be applicable in reality to practical sense and not just theoretical. Perhaps applying trig with say, home economics might be a great way understanding both concepts. And why not? This is why I hate this k-12 implementation. It doesn't address on the quality clearly. Adding two years doesn't freaking improve how students are learning.

Philippine education operates in the most backward system. That's why even those who graduate college degrees end up being maids, janitors and other lower paying blue collar jobs abroad. This K-12 is about public reputation not actual education.
This is why Finnish schools are better, they focus more on how a student finds himself/herself in this world and also teaching them subjects actively than passively rather than teaching them a lot of things that not all are useful. Because of this, students from Finland are more encouraged to go to school because of their current school system. Here, we basically compete for high grade marks causing a high number of students having depression and anxiety over projects and tests that doesn’t really measure intelligence and/or success and spend their whole teenage lives in schools rather than exploring the world and knowing what life really is at a young age than making them more like workers that doesn’t have anything else to do but to work. We should adapt Finland’s school system rather than following America’s common core which is deteriorating and basically making some students lives miserable because not all students are the same. “No two brains are the same”. We all have different ways to learn, different ways of thinking in and about this world.

It doesn't work in the real world if you want progress. That's why so many work abroad as maids and nurses because they couldn't elevate knowledge beyond what's provided in the country. I really think that what's more important is to change some of the subject in school to much more useful ones... like basic human rights, basic safety when there is an emergency, basic first aid... also add more topic on economic subject like basic stock market, the importance of saving and preparing for retirements, being financially independent, and other topics for them to be successful in life. All of these knowledge and information are very useful in everyday life after school. These are very helpful in being successful in life. And if the majority of the population is equipped with these knowledge... the country's economy will grow, poverty in the Philippines will be lessen.
In addition of preparing for retirement... it's sad to say that majority of the Filipino doesn't do this. A lot of Filipinos work there whole life and when it's time for them to retire without a proper retirement plan in placed... they relay on their children for resources. And this mentality continues for every generations.

Correction: You ignore the fact that not everyone in the Philippines speaks Tagalog. Majority are Visayan speakers . Cebuano is a language not a dialect. There are also many languages in the Philippines. Imposing Tagalog on others is impractical and also a tad bit being culturally imperialistic.

You don't work in banks just graduating high school even in US or australia. That's bullshit myth. I'm in Australia and they require that you have enough years of experience in terms of customer service in order to work in their banks. Getting high school diploma doesn't cut it. Philippine Dep Ed still doesn't get it. The system needs to reform teachers and how learning is given to students. Cut out rote learning bull shit and embed methods that inspire innovation even as early as 5 years of age.

For me this is really helpful. it's really disappointing that after i graduated as a Bachelors degree in Philippines, my applications in Canada and Australia turns out my education is just a vocational course...So i have to enroll and study for another 2-3 years just to consider my profession as a degree on western countries. ofcourse i didn't do it..But this program will help our children's application if they chose to extend their careers abroad..Since our educational system is same as western countries.

Over in Japan, students graduate high school at 16 and Finland also at 16. Both score very high in science and maths.

sorry if you want communication technology. you can apply to Tourism, mascomunnication or Hotel and restaurant management. they are all focus in communication. of if you love with the touch of science you can take the Psychology course. hope it will help you.

Its just a waste of 2 years, Filipinos could hardly send their kids to school and yet they added 2 more years. We cant just let them work after their k to 12, once they experience working, they wont proceed their studies anymore, and should we aspiring our kids to finish k to 12 only? Is that the program of the govt that our kids would work in an undergrad status? Are we happy with that? Parents tried their best to send their kids to college and yet the govt only aspires that we be satisfied with k to 12 and allow them to work already. And for those who does not want this program, another 2 years burden for them just to finish college. Also pls be informed that even without k to 12, a 2nd year college level was also being accepted for a job, so what is the use of k to 12, for added income of Deped???

Right now, STEM talaga dapat ang kinuha mo. It may be okay sa ibang schools but state universities have become strict on this matter. but if you really want to become a nurse, they usually offer bridging programs that help you learn the competencies of STEM that you did not learn in HUMSS strand. Swerte nga kung STEM student ka kasi pwede kang puili nang kahit na anong course, however, sa ibang strands, kailngan pa nang bridging program which will unfortunately take up your summer vacation.

actually it depends on what you plan to do after college. Kung balak mo magtatrabaho sa hotels, restau then its better to take the TVET track under the "HOME ECONOMICS" strand, pero kung long term goal mo eh magtayo or magkaron ng sariling business, then you go for the academic track under the "BAM" strand
...I rather choose academic track hess basically to learn and hone my IQ in preparation of going into college .(if I choose other course instead,it would be just fine)

Adding 2 years in education doesn't equal to success! Remove useless subjects that isn't really necessary in learning! Teach them basic things that can help them from tax, human rights laws, how to cook and practical shits that need to be learn! How does Trigonometry, Geometry, Chemistry or History help this young people to get a job?!

History: To prevent past mistakes and not repeating them in the future, knowing why the country is what it is now, human society, culture, idea
How can one be innovators if they don't have something to be motivated and inspired about? Taxes, human rights laws? They are taught in Social Studies/HeKaSi. Cooking? That is Home Economics/TLE/THE. Are you studying in the Philippines?
Also, adding two years of education does equal success in some way, because K-12 graduates don't need to go to college. They will also be more competitive worldwide. A high school graduate of the old system is equivalent to only Grade 10 or 11 in other countries.

I think trig and stuff are just as important as the practical things you've mentioned. I get what you're saying; maybe you just needed to word it differently. I agree this program is stupid to begin with. I believe what you're saying is that the curriculum must be applicable in reality to practical sense and not just theoretical. Perhaps applying trig with say, home economics might be a great way understanding both concepts. And why not?
This is why I hate this k-12 implementation. It doesn't address on the quality clearly. Adding two years doesn't freaking improve how students are learning.

Philippine education operates in the most backward system. That's why even those who graduate college degrees end up being maids, janitors and other lower paying blue collar jobs abroad. This K-12 is about public reputation not actual education.
