another technique you can use when dealing with fractions that are to the power of a negative fraction, is that a/b/c = c/b
e.g (9/25)^-1/2 = 3/5^-1 = 1/3/5 = 5/3
you made a mistake, its 3/5, so the answer would be 5/3

good morning ! sorry to bother you but I dont get something. what idf the question is : find the value of n when 3n ( this n is an index ) = 9 -3/2 ( -3/2 is an index too ) . I got an answer 3 but the actual answer is -3. why is it -3?
ahhhhh I get it now. its because its a negative. therefore the answer is 1/9 for 3 squared and 3 will have to become a fraction and so the index would have to be -3 for it to become 1/9!

This still doesnt make sense to me in terms of the logic of it but i now know how to find the answer and do the working out.
What puzzles me is , for example :
Find the value of 25-1/2
I thought its as simple as and im still very convinced it should be 25-0.5 because 1/2 is 0.5 so why does 35 have to be rooted by /2 and then factored by 1/ , it doesnt compute very well for my logic and thus annoys me 🤣😫😡

im stuck so badly please some one help the question is root x to the power of negative 1/2 = 2
Lucid Vettel root x to the power -1/2 = 2
So root x to the power 1/2 = 1/2
Root x = 1/4
X = 1/16
@@TheGCSEMathsTutor thank you but I managed to find out as x to the power of negative half is equal to 1 over x to the power of an half then 1 equals 1 over root x which equals to then you have to square root x to make it just x and you have to do it to the two which then makes 1 equals 4x which equals x equals one quater
