    Lid on the pan towards the end and it will cook evenly with no snotty spots, sometimes I put a little splash of water in (v small bit) and stick the lid on, the steam cooks the snotty bits in seconds.

      I just add a lump of butter so after its fried top gets covered in hot butter. Cooks the whites to perfection and gives a nutty flavour to the eggs!

    If you want the same effect as when spooning fat over the yolk, put a lid on the frying pan. Half-way through cooking, put a teaspoon of cold water in the pan, kinda swirl it around the perimeter, then put the lid on. The water creates steam which finishes off the yolk and surrounding white beautifully, so you don't have the "jelly". With this method you can use a minimal amount of oil.

    The red spot has two different shades of red, when it gets to temperature the different shades end up the same so the markings in the spot disappear. I just put a wee drop of water in the pan and when that starts to bubble I know I can put the egg in. Works for me! These cheap Tefal pans work well and I have been using a small one for a lot of years now, still a good little omlette pan, fantastic for a cheap throwaway pan!

    My Spanish girlfriend cooks my fried eggs in extra virgin olive oil and without a shadow of doubt, the best tasting fried eggs in Christendom 😃😃😉 Cooking chips in normal olive oil was also another wonderful surprise and very tasty too 😆 In Spain they have a dish called " broken eggs" , basically egg and chips cooked with olive oil. Break the runny yolks over your chips and eat like a king 😆😉

    Hi again, mate. The reason frying pans warp is usually because it has been cooled too quickly. So, if it is put into water when the pan is still hot, it will probably warp the pan. I hope this info is helpful.

    I don't rate these pans, after some time, the handle gets loose and you have to find a Philips to tighten it up. After a year or so of frequent use, the attachment to the pan comes loose as well. Better to have a pan handle that is riveted - no screws.

  • @johndavis7944
    @johndavis7944 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes Gareth the red dot indicator goes dull at optimum cooking heat. Best always use low/med heat with a Scanpan. No need for oil unless you like the eggs crispy bottomed. Otherwise with just a wee squirt of water and a lid, you'll get that poached effect. I had a Scanpan but overheated it and fkt it. It buckled the centre.. A bit to sensitive for my kind of rough and ready style of cooking. So it became scrap for cash.
    Don't ya just love fried eggs on toast..👍🤤 it's my breakfast with baked beans at least 3-4 days a week shared with a tea or a coffee.
    A nice way to break in your new pan and review. Cheers. 👍😀

    No need for the oil Gaz, stick a scrunched up wet paper towel in the pan and pop a pan lid on, no need to flip them over as the steam that comes off the water will cook the tops off the eggs absolutely Spot On. And don’t go to light on the salt, there just not the same without seasoning 😂

    All this talk about good oil, bad oil, just use what you want to, after all you said you don't have egg on toast that often. In regard to the pan, don't wash it, wipe round with some kitchen paper (when it's cooled)
