Never heard of no prize book before.. that’s really neat indeed!

Can't wait to get it and have a read. It's apparently mostly text with some images with the bloopers and blunders. I'd also love to get an actual No-Prize letter and envelope at some point too.

Very modest and achievable collecting goals. I usually have two yearly lists one the dream grail list I usually find 1 to 2 out of 40 on list at reasonable fmv but still expensive. The second list are books I really like to acquire but has a limit price below 300 dollars. Goodluck with your 2024 goals.

Thanks for feedback and sharing your goals/list ideas. I have something similar as my full wishlist would be too long for any video. It's probably why I have so many mail calls as there is always something else interesting to collect.

Ditko did the Speedball regular series, not his first appearance.

    • @StillOnly35c
      @StillOnly35c  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks for that. Yes, you are absolutely correct, for some reason during the video I was recalling the Ditko series that followed, but noted that Ron Frenz and John Romita Jr drew the cover. Mark Bagley (who himself was debuting that issue on Spider-Man) drew his debut inside with inks by Mike Esposito.

Great books and love the hot list for 2024 ! Fantastic to see Silver Surfer : Parable on it, such an underrated set I think. Can I also recommend Marvel Age 71 which previews the series and has a lovely Moebius cover and goes really well with both comics 👍

Thanks for the comment and the suggestion. I forgot about the Moebius Marvel Cover and preview; will add it for sure.

The art Adams X-Men homage is one of my favorites.
Love that Marvel Team-Up with Black Widow cover it is so amazing.
I see those Excalibur #1bissues in the dollar bin at my LCS all the time?
Did someone say John Byrne?!? Great Alpha Flight pick-up!
Remember that X-Men #164 at a bookstore when I was a kid and I still have it even though it is not in great shape.
Wow just watching this episode and now seeing you with that Doomsday +1 issue.
Those blank sketch cover variants, what artists have you gotten to do a cover?
Is that your first Turok #1? Seems to be a running joke in the community to get one of those. I found one in a dollar bin so I am in the club now.
Love that Avengers #58 but not as much as that E-Man #6 the 1st appearance of Rog-2000 and #9 and #10 and Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch. On my list!!!!
I like to call the X-Men #101 cover "How much water can Cyclops drink?"

Thanks, I really appreciate your comments about the comics, it means a lot to hear your positive feedback.
I'm a massive fan of that X-Men Annual #9 and that Journey Into Mystery #83 homage, so much so, I have a 9.8 signed by Art Adams, Walt Simonson and Mike Mignola. Now I just need Chris Claremont to finish it off.
As we are both working on own own respective Byrne run collection, I thought you'd get a kick out of the E-Man and Wheelie & The Chopper Bunch early John Byrne Charlton issues. I similarly loved your recent video on Doomsday+1.
On X-Men #101, love your comment, it's a hilarious callout! Maybe he's hydrating for all those optic blasts.
Still working on the blank sketch covers, was lining up Jim Cheung for Emerald City Comic Con, but he recently cancelled sadly. I'll keep you posted as I build out those sketch plans.

Thankyou for bringing up the Annuals, specifically X-Men Annual #9, as there seems to be a general dismissiveness towards them by many collectors except for those Annuals that are worth a lot of money. Yet you won't find a more fun story than New Mutants Annual #3 or a better drawn story than X-Men Annuals #6 and #9.
I'm still a huge Michael Golden fan - Star Wars #38 (original series) in which he co-writes, pencils and colours is one of the best issues of the entire series and his work on the revived Mister Miracle in the 1970s is gorgeous.
I don't do annual want lists, I have a list of comics that I need to fill holes in the PC and work on that throughout the year (and for decades now).
FOOM has some really interesting articles and art pieces but it's been very hard to find for years.
The Lee/Moebius Silver Surfer two-parter is such a contrast for me: fantastic art but oh, Stan is so preachy!
Another great video David, love the variety of items you cover.

Thanks as always for your comment @charliedogg7683. I'm with you on some of those annuals; loved the Art Adams annuals as well as those others you mentioned. Others of note for me include: Fantastic Four Annual 6 & 11, Hulk Annual 1, 5, 7 & 8, Avengers Annual 7, Marvel Two-In-One Annual 1 & 2, Amazing Spider-man 1, 16 & 21, Avengers Annual 10, Captain America Annual 4 & 10, New Mutants Annual 2 & 3, ROM Annual 1 & 2 and Invaders Annual 1
In fact, you've given me a great idea for a show. Marvel Annuals, nuff said!

Love to see a show on significant Marvel Annuals. I read ASM Annual #1 last month (Facsimile Edition so on glossy paper with vivid colours) and I couldn't believe just how much fun it was, one of the best comics I read in 2023 and it was 59 years old! Olde time Marvel sure knew how to get it right.@@StillOnly35c

Nice grabs in the mail call and very cool t-shirt! I don't envy your goal of the F.O.O.M. run, I have tried to complete that series for many years but the $ values have exceeded my love of the books for several of the issues so I'm currently in a holding pattern hoping they will turn up at a garage sale or something.... For my own goals, I hope to obtain an Amazing Spider-man 18, Strange Tales 125, Little Lotta in Foodland 1, Tomahawk 23 and 27, and X-men 9 during 2024, among hopefully, many others. I enjoy your show!

Thanks so much, appreciate the feedback.
I hear you on the F.O.O.M. as the prices are going a little crazy; let's see how we go. I've seen a few lots with a number included.
Great list for your collecting goals; I wasn't aware of Little Lotta in Foodland and Tomahawk so may have to do some research. What's the significance for you with those books?

    • @LeadPaint1
      @LeadPaint1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@StillOnly35c Harvey comics titles like Little Lotta, Casper, etc. were my initiation into comics and Foodland is a nice series as most, if not all, are the Harvey Giants, square bound binding with sharp art and colors. While not rare or anything, they can take some searching to find nice copies. Tomahawk from DC, is a great historical/adventure comic that l love. Been focusing on the golden/early silver age run through the 1950's which focus on colonial adventures in New England vs. the middle run through most of the 1960's which dealt primarily with battles with giant monsters, dinosaurs, etc. They are inexpensive but very very hard to find in decent condition.
