Thanks for the video. My wife just got me one of these for my birthday. I agree the instructions need to be updated to reflect what is actually in the box. I've got a lot to learn.
Hey Pete! Thanks so much for your comment and taking the time to watch. That’s awesome welcome to the club👍🏻 you’re gonna love this thing it’s a lot of fun and a good hobby. Before you use it for the first time, get yourself a good set of tongs for the crucible. It’s nice that they send you some with the kit but I found them a little hard to use so I ended up getting a set that has tongs for picking up and lifting the crucible out of the furnace and another one that picks it up for pouring. I hope you have as much fun with it as I do and if you think about it after you use it a couple times post back here and let me know how it’s working out for you! 😎
Really cool process and that little furnace works good.I remember we made molds in sand and when halves came apart the object was perfect. We used aluminum in shop class.
The good old days of shop class! Scared of what goes on in schools these days... It's definitely not learning practical life skills and critical thinking. 🙄I want to try sand molds with this in the future. there is no shortage of beer cans for aluminum either 🤣🤣
I don't use the borox I like using calcium carbonate in water soak the crucible but needs to dry completely , great presentation I just did a copper pour yesterday you might like to see
Grate video much appreciated 👌🏽 iv just brought my first forge and I am a melting virgin so trying to get as much info as possible before I start using it. Big love from the uk 🇬🇧

Don’t put your fire extinguisher right next to a container of fuel. It should be in the least likely place to catch fire in case you need it. Slow is smooth, smooth is efficient. Efficiency is speed.
Thanks for checking it out! I always have two extinguishers and a hose on the ready. I keep one extinguisher close to the propane cut off so that if there’s an issue with anything while operating the valve it is close by. The other extinguisher is on a concrete patio and the water hose is pressurized and ready for immediate use. It may be overkill but I’d rather be ready for any mishaps. Thanks for sharing! 😎
I have actually found a site now and how managed to order 1kg of pure borax which I am made up with just waiting for it to arrive now and I can get cooking 😃 but eBay and Amazon do not sell it to 🇬🇧 and also no supermarkets sell it hear no more fore some reason or another 🙄 soon as it turns up I am going to copy exactly what you have done to my crucible ✌🏽

Jimmie, Thanks so much for hitting the super thanks icon! You are the first viewer on the channel to do so😎 what an awesome surprise for us! I hope you found the video useful in some way, or at least entertaining. This little furnace is fun and I haven't broken it yet 🤣
Hey Beeman! Thanks for the question. You learn something new everyday 😎 I didn’t know that Borax was hard to get in the UK 🇬🇧 bicarbonate of soda has been used as a substitute but for cleaning not sure for smelting. Have you tried the dreaded Amazon? I’m curious now! If you find a good substitute share it here so others can benefit. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍🏻

And I see part of your safety protocol is to wear those canvas and rubber sneakers you got on not a really good movie
WEIGHT IT PLEASE ON CAMERA. THIS YEAR WHOLE DIVISIONS OF TRACK HOMES ARE UNDERWATER, LOTS OF COPPER WILL BE AVAILABLE.
HOW ABOUT USED BRASS AT THE RANGE.
I need to get a scale to weigh the ingots and things that I cast. I am curious to see how much it all weighs also.
