    Some people may come here to see the guitars, but I'm just hear to listen to the best VH riffage out there. I love the fact that you don't play the same 5 riffs that everyone else does and you always nail them.

    Cameron, your playing and sound are amazing! I truly believe Eddie would be proud of you! I have seen them live six times 84, 88 twice, 95, 98, 08, my favorite band! I grew up on VH! Eddie never disappointed, it’s sad he’s gone now, but will never be forgotten. EVH forever!!!

    The era of the guitar hero rock god has somewhat gone underground. So glad there's a platform for the talent of this generation to be seen to some extent at least. In the 80's or 90's this man would be living on a tour bus

    @10:43 I can hear your Steve Vai influence mixed in well with your awesome EVH influence to truly hear your growth as a musician. I've been away from my internet on and off for a little over a year now and I have to say your playing really blows me away. To watch your growth over the last 4 years or so has truly been an honor. Of my 36 years of playing guitar myself I'm proud to have learned quite a bit of the EVH technique from you. You had me at Cathedral! Lol I re-subbed your channel and I'm loving your EVH collection. Keep up the amazing standard you have created and thank you for everything. Peace brother!

    I have a EVH Wolfgang Special in Burnt Cherry Burst made in China and it’s phenomenal. It’s easy to play and sounds amazing. I love the maple veneer top, it’s a beautiful pattern. It has stainless steel frets so I can play hard and fast for many years to come. I’d recommend to try an EVH Wolfgang Special to anyone out there

    Just brought a EVH Wolfgang standard in sparkle gold today, and I'm blown away on how it plays,feels and sounds, a dream guitar to own since I was a kid back in the early 90's, the unfinished baked maple neck is the fastest neck I've ever played🤘👍🎸

    The Franky clones sound very slightly different than the Wolfgang despite being the same wood, hardware, and electronics. Surprising what slanting a pickup a few mm will do as far as articulation and harmonic content.

    Awesome collection Cam! I just got done building a ‘78 Frankenstein that while it’s cosmetically identical, hardware wise it isn’t close. The tuners are Gotoh locking machine heads, the bridge is a Gotoh vintage strat bridge with a brass block and Floyd rose noiseless springs and a brass trem claw, the pickup is a Seymour Duncan 78 with a Seymour Duncan YJM frictionless 500K pot, the neck is birdseye maple with a big headstock but it has the bullet truss rod unlike Eddie’s, and it used 6100 Jumbo Dunlop fret wire. All of these specs aren’t close to original but all of them are necessities to how I play guitar and a lot of the upgrades are just practical like the Gotoh locking tuners. I’ve always wanted to try and snag one of those Wolfgang’s in Northern lights, love the look of them and now I wanna try and snag one of those 5150 Iconic heads.

    Awesome video Cam. I really liked the 5150 Stealth and the more I heard the more I liked. Luckily my local music store had a couple. I was hooked just by the feel. The neck is one of the best necks I’ve played. I’m not wild about the knobs but that is an infinitesimally small complaint. Pickups are awesome as is the d-tuna. I’ve got several guitars and they are made in the USA, Mexico, Korea and Indonesia. Maybe I’ve just been lucky but there’s not a bad one in the bunch. This evh 5150 plays and sounds as good or better than a $5k-$6k for a lot less money. If you have an opportunity to check this line out you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for the video and the inspiration Cam. Pretty sure this might be my go-to-guitar.

    They have talked about a tribute or well they said something about reunion, but I'd say it's more like a tribute concert to Ed with Joe Satriani and Alex. I'm sure you heard about it.I made the suggestion that people like you should get a chance to go up on stage and do a song during that tour if the tour was to happen and would you be interested in doing that? I think they should grab a bunch of you guys off of TH-cam that are really good at playing Eddie stuff and give you guys a chance to play at least one song during those tours if it happens. I think that would be a great idea.😎

    You know Cameron; with the 5150 amp, have you thought about a Universal Audio OX Box? I have one and its amazing. You can record your big amps fully cranked with no volume issues. The OX is about the price of a guitar. Its simple to use also. Trust me; it will open up the recording world for you in ways you can't imagine! And much better then IR's. So simple to use. Plug and play. And with the amp; you can tweak the cabs, mics, mix, reverb, delay; etc. Seriously; you won't believe the quality!

    The Indonesian Wolfgang Standard may just be the best way to go for the Wolfgang series. The carve outs on the body are cool, the difference between the pickups compared to the Wolfgang Specials is negligible as you say, even spec wise, and the trem can always be upgraded to a 1000 model or with FU Tone components while still saving a good chunk of money compared to the Specials. The Standards also have a large variety of cool finishes. The only thing you don't get is the arched top. I prefer the carved bodies to the arched tops myself. Anyway they are all great guitars.

      @dog-eb7sg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yngwie is good at what he does and had pretty good licks, but that's it. He is limited but what he had was amazing. That's probably the reason why he has many fans (me included). Anyway, my favorite lead player is Marty Friedman. He doesn't just run through scales. His notes are carefully chosen. He's definitely at the top when it comes to lead playing. His lead playing in megadeth are considered to be the best in heavy metal and in all of rock n' roll.

    It would be so tempting to drop a EVH Frankenstein humbucker in the bridge of the Frankie. The Wolfgang pickup leaves little to be desired with the right setup, mind you.
    Note: You crank insane tones out of the THR, I did think you were playing the 5150. Every time you play I am left thinking man... What a technician.

    I love my EVH gear. I have a Frankie, a Wolfgang Standard Exotic Spalted Maple and a Striped Series Star… and most recently an LBX Stealth and 1x12 cab. All are amazing. The Frankie is my favourite but the Standard is also such a fun easy play with its small but oh so smooth neck. The Star is cool, but I just never play it. May need to trade it for a 5150 Stealth some time.

  • @Bloozestringer

    Played a Std. with the roasted maple neck a couple weeks ago. That neck was so slippery! They didn’t have a Special, but I’m thinking of just replacing the trem on a Std. with an OFR and adding a D-tuna and calling it a day. The only thing was the neck is just slightly too thin, but I’m afraid the Special won’t feel as slick. No idea if the 5150 feels as slippery as the roasted maple Std?

    Im sure alot of your fans would LOVE to see your recording technique using your Yamaha THR! There are literally no videos showing how to do it comprehensively. Please consider doing this since so many of us are having problems. Thanks!!!!

      The hard part I have with that is I don't do computer screen recordings. I plug in my THR via USB and connect it to Cubase in the 'Studio Setup' menu

      Thanks for the reply! Im trying to get my son to help me record like you, but he wants to use the headphone out of amp and I really want to do it how you do.. I really could just use a break down of how you record,and my son can implement it for me. Ive been trying to record like you for SO LONG!!!! Any tips are appreciated! Thanks Cameron.
      Ps..my son knows computers, but he just needs a few pointers on how you do it. Eternally greatful..im a huge fan of your channel.

      @@Boogieplex I'm not sure what your set up is so I will tell you how I do it.
      My DAW is Cubase 9.5
      I connect my Yamaha THR30II to my computer via the USB. The cable comes with the amp.
      In Cubase on the top bar, enter the Studio menu and hit 'Studio Setup Menu.' Look on the left for 'Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver'. Click that and look to the right of the window and you should see a button labelled 'Control Panel' click it.
      Open the menu and it presents you with options for input and output devices. Select THR30II Wireless for BOTH input and output. Close the menu.
      Click the Studio menu on the top bar again and open Audio Connections and create a new input and output BUS. It should register THR30II if that's the only device connected to the computer.
      Create a new track in Cubase and press record. You should be good to go.

      Wow….. i am really greatful Cameron. Im just an old school guy, and am in awe of your guitar tones. I bought a laptop and Yamaha THR10X pretty much because of you, and to try to accomplish making videos of my own.But being an older guy(50), im a little bit old school. Ill show my son your directions,and hopefully ill get up and running. I had no idea youd reply to me,I should’ve asked you ages ago.
      Your an inspiration,even to us older dogs. Btw-LOVED the video with you and your dad. You a great guy.

    Wait so what is the exact name of the amplifier you use? Good video btw. Happy to hear the 5150 standard is your favorite. That's what I ended up buying back in October, I bought the Ice Blue color. It plays soo smooth.

    I got into van halen when I was 13 in 1997. I was still trying to find my way around the guitar or some influences. Started playing when I was 12. Got into Eric Clapton from the Unplugged album. then my mother knew of Van Halen so she bought me Van Halen 3 as a gift. it had just come out. I know its the least favorite of the old school fans. but for me I was so amazed by the guitar work on that album. I'm 37 today. and I still feel the same. eddie really got me going. then I got the rest of their albums over time. Eddie and Mark Tremonti will forever be my Guitar Heros

    Love this video Cam.... EVH gear is ace!! I've got a Wolfgang standard and totally agree the contours make such a difference over the Special. How do you set the bridge's on your EVH guitars? Do you let them sit back onto the body or take a bit of slack out the springs so they have a slight float?

    • @CameronCooper
      @CameronCooper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like them to be decked, right down to the body. Thanks a lot for the comment!! :)
