For those who are coming to Current 93 for the first time I highly recommend starting with The Inmost Light trilogy (EP/Album/EP). Listen to it in order, I think it's a great entry point and probably a better start then this new album.
I came to Current 93 as a fan of Nick Cave back in the 90s. I'd found out he was on All The Pretty Little Horses (the middle part of The Inmost Light trilogy) and I quickly had a new obsession. Definitely the best place for a new listener to start.
In 1983, the first Current 93 release, half a C60 cassette on the Mi-Mort label, the other half devoted to Nurse with Wound. This was followed by a 3-track EP, Lashtal/Salt/Caresse, and then in '84 by Nature Unveiled and Dogs' Blood Rising. I made sure to give each new release lots of airtime on my radio show, Productions of Time, Saturday midnight--Sunday 8AM, all through the amazing 1980s. Over the years I've gathered about 50 discs of Current 93 material. The Light Is Leaving Us All isn't my favorite of the bunch, but I'm really glad you reviewed it. David Tibet deserves all the exposure he can get. He has inspired a lot of people over the last (almost 40) years. Amazingly, this was my first exposure to your reviews, so now I get to backtrack and find out what else you've been covering. I'd love to see you review Nurse with Wound. As David Tibet has been the single constant in Current 93, Steven Stapleton has served the same role through about 50 discs of Nurse with Wound. It would make a great companion piece to your review of Current 93. I'll be looking forward to checking out your future reviews. End of transmission...
Thank you so much for reviewing this album Anthony. Current 93 is a very important band, but feel free to review a Nurse With Wound sometime, I would love to see what you think of one of their albums.
Whoa.. Never imagined seeing a C93 album review on here... Love the album, though I do wish Tibet would insert some other lyrical themes in there sometimes. He really is obsessed with birds, witches and cats on here. That said wonderful album. Loved C93 for years now and while they don't always release masterpieces, this is one of the better ones.
Greetings from Australia. I thoroughly enjoyed your review and I am so happy that you are nourished in your C93 back catalogue. Thank you so much and all the best.
I'm sure you talk about it somewhere, sometime, but what the heck happened to the subtle, crazy, off-the-wall edits you would occasionally do during your review videos? They're totally gone, now. Bummer. They were these super-fast and goddam hilarious little bursts of creativity that came out of nowhere. Brilliant. You know what I'm talkin' about. Bring 'em back!
I know exactly what you're talking about. I was seeing a lot of this when I was really getting into this channel around 2015-16. Latwly, it feels like he's really fovused on the reviweing material, which is what everyone is here for and understandable. I guess it depends on what he's reviewing and if anything prompts a reaction for it.
Y'all do realise that The Nerd's two cited albums, Nature Unveiled and Dogs Blood Rising are the very first two Current 93 albums? They are completely unrepresentative of their later output (and are also bad trip mind-melters, if you fancy the brown acid experience). Go ahead, if you think you're hard enough.
I listen to Dog’s Blood Rising while I eat my Frosted Flakes in the morning. Even at its release, it wasn’t the most extreme music out there, but it is quite spooky in places. Even now, some 35 years after I bought it.

This was a band that nobody ever seemed to like or talk about. Briefly on 4AD. Some Dead Can Dance fans liked. They were from Manchester you can see they actually opened for Joy Division in 1979.
Tim Kaine you don’t gotta be elitist. Just cause you know a lot about a band doesn’t make someone else dumb for not knowing everything about them as well. (Plus this bands spotify has a pretty low amount of listens. So they may be influential, but they aren’t very popular)

Nice review. I appreciate the sincere effort to describe the sumptuous sounds behind the frontman, unlike say Pitchfork who are apparently so in thrall to Tibet that their attentions (and presumably scoring) barely bother to warrant anything beyond the man (and his many and comorbid patripassians). Very nice, in other words, that the NINE OTHERS CREDITED with the recording get something of their due. And the background preamble is clearly warranted on this forum. Always interesting to see what makes the Current history cut.
On an unrelated note, a new Slipknot track came out today "All out Life". It's gotta Subliminal Verses vibe to it and its heavy as hell. Definitely worth checkin out
A small thing to point out : David Tibet is a devout christian although he is usually described as a gnostic christian & a heretic. There is an interview on the subject matter which I highly recommend
Current 93 means a lot to me and have done so for many years. Of Ruine, Thunder Perfect Mind, All the Pretty Little Horses, and many others are amongst my favourite albums ever. Seeing you finally reviewing them is weird. Nice to see a positive review though.
