Dude, you're missing out. Disney has been doing the opposite since they purchased Star Wars, linking everything to the Prequel and Sequel trilogies as much as they can.
Unfortunately, I refuse to buy the game, no matter how good the gameplay is. I utterly refuse to buy into the lootboxes/microtransactions. And others should too.
Woah you just skipped out the entire siege on the airbase, involving futuristic fighters, caterpillar attack vehicles, and tank walker artillery things.
Another clone. ANOTHER CLONE! YOU MEAN JESSE.another clone who just happens to fly alien craft and becomes an ARC TROOPER!YEAH JUST ANOTHER CLONE. JUST KIDDING GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS.
The Felucia map in Battlefront 2 Is probably the best example of Vietnam style combat and is hated by players as much as the real war. #NoDagobahNoFelucia
I've been waiting for someone to make a vid like this for awhile. This is probably my favorite battle in the whole Star Wars series. Very gritty and raw. And it showed just how mature the Clone Wars series could be.
Star Commander I'm a sub to Generation tech before 30K subs, although been watching geetsly for months, never sub cause part of the #NoNotifications and #NonSub but early detachment.
These episodes on Umbara are my favorite Star Wars the Clone Wars episodes. Because there are just clones, and not only clones but really good story and action. It's perfect.
What I liked about this episode is how, in the start, we can see the evolution of the battle-tactics of Anakin's forces. Comparing this with the second battle of Geonosis-episodes is really interesting. Ofcourse, Krell comes along and it's geonosis all over again..
@@ultamatejoker8282 yeah I know, but there still were clones. Also they were ordered to miss in ep. 4 so the empire could follow the falcon to the rebel base
I discovered these episodes last night, and I absolutely loved them! General Krell was such an awful character, and I enjoyed the twist that he was actually the bad guy the whole time, rather than just the mean general similar to the drill seargent fro. Full Metal Jacket. Also, the action, animation, and overall atmosphere was so brutal and ruthless this time. Like you said, these episodes truly showcase the raw vicious nature of war, and its amazing to see clever foreshadowing of Order 66, stuff that I didn't pick on until you mentioned them! One thing I must talk about is that, until it was revealed that Krell was revealed to be a villain and Dogma killed him, I hoped that Anakin would've slaughtered Krell good. Never would I have been brought to say this, except for possibly Windu for not apologizing to Ahsoka for condemning her for destroying the Jedi Temple when she was actually framed. All in all, wonderful episodes, wonderful videos, and its even more of a wonderful time being a Star Wars fan!
Thinking about Krell. With Order 66 in mind he was right to misstrust the clones, but his actions to basicly send them into their deaths (including the missinformation about the enemy disguised as clonetroopers) still marks him as a traitor.
It's cowardly to make use of surprise attacks from he flanks and rear? As opposed to..............dropping explosives from high altitude? Perhaps the Umbarans should have just marched to their deaths in a frontal assault. Dead soldiers make for great heroes.
Good point. It wasn't just a Middle East/Vietcong tactic either. The Americans employed such tactics against the British in the Revolutionary War. And the Native Americans employed those same tactics against the Americans. It is simply survival. Its like a giant street fight. Gotta do what you can to survive. No rules.
Notions of Honor and pride have no place in War, i'd rather carpet bomb enemy positions, preserve my life and get back to my loving family and friends rather than returning to the void early and becoming a "hero".
Yeah honestly there is absolutely nothing dishonorable or cowardly about a flanking assault in war, even to those who hold to such ideals as "honorable tactics".
Honestly, the feels on a moment when an entire squad misses on purpose because they don't want to kill a fellow who saved them. I assume that because they all fired that moment was a realisation that nobody was on the side of those orders, they didn't want to be the one to kill them AND neither did anyone else, all of them assuming that one of the others could take the shot they couldn't.
Shame. The clones won all those glorious victories for the Repblic, fighting what seemed like a good fight, until it became clear they were merely the lowest pawns on a massive cheesboard
I don't see anything cowardly about the Ombarans and their tactics. While not as individually capable as the clones they made use of terrain and every weapon at their disposal. It's actually much harder physically and psychologically to endure combat conditions for days and weeks at a time like they did than to commit their entire force to a bunch of dramatic but ill-advised make or break charges and inflexible defenses the way most battle flow in Star Wars. One could look at the Japanese tactics in the Pacific Theater of WWII to see how sometimes it took more werewithal to stick to more intelligent tactics. As military thinkers have stated throughout the ages: courage isn't willingness to die or kill, it's the ability to endure pain with patience.
The Umbara arc was my favorite of the whole clone wars. It was the best example of what the series and did right what it so often did wrong. The fights were there to instill a sense of dread and stress and that every moment could be your last as they moved through hostile territory. Compare that with season one the hidden enemy where 90% of it was just generic action of Obi-wan and Anikin fighting Ventress well the clones do the job of looking for the traitor. I use to love light saber fights but more and more these days I'm just bored by them, they go on forever and contribute nothing to the plot beyond mindeless action scene.
skipping past the first season and a little bit of the second, it gets really good i would say the best part is when maul takes over mandalore, and the following events that transpire
I just love this Battle it’s like Star Wars version of the Nam. It’s so awesome, also it’s the most emotional due to the fratricide caused by Krell, it almost made me cry. This whole battle arc had me engaged the entire time.
Dude I loved your speech about the clones at the end. It help realize why I always loved the jango fett clones. Also 4:12 I know youre referring to the republic but its also true in other nations’ militaries but not in the USA. Everybody from the barely functional boot ass pfc to the chill salt-dog gunny knows their mission and how it relates to the greater operation. Also tbh if anybody forced brothers to kill each other many of them would want vengeance against the man responsible. But still bro that was a very awesome and well in depth video. You have great tactical perception for somebody without a military background.
I know, I was pointing out some mistakes he made. He described krell as having six arms (I believe the technicality is 4 arms, 2 legs) and he called the battalion the 202nd. To be honest, it was probably the entire 7th Sky Corps deployed anyway given the scale of things. Oh well.
The Jedi who had the best relationship with there clones was my personal favorite Plo Koon, they even named themselves PLO’S BROS. And it wasn’t the wolf pack that shot him down, it was 2 random pilots.
I really enjoyed this episode arch. I wish rebels had done stuff like this more. Tell a complete, interesting story with cool characters instead something quick.
5:38 "Refused to be just another number" despite only having one number to make his CT code and named himself after said number. Don't get me wrong, I love Fives, he's my favorite Trooper but the irony is too much.
3:41 I bet he also forces the clones to sit through three-hour safety briefings and dings them if they have even the smallest lines of dust in their barracks.
You did an excellent job explaining the military aspects and showing all the respect the wonderful clones deserve. Amazing series and this 4-parter is definitely top 3.
5:38 this is one of the best bits of poetry in Star Wars. His name is a number and he's the one who refuses to be just another number and it's a belief that he dies for
6:14 - Actually in time of war under battlefield conditions officers can in certain circumstances execute their men... however it for limited crimes and is very situationally dependent.
The weapons of the Umbara actually also make sense. The light centipede tanks would be very good in tight spaces and their many turrets allow them to take out a very large amount of troops. They also have thin armor to increase speed but powerful shields to compensate. The heavy tanks have strong armor to defend against the rockets but they also have mini turrets underneath to keep troops away. There is no rapid fire cannons high because there is no way troops can reach that. It's also rounded so landing on it from above is very hard. It's long legs were also ideal for walking through such a jungle area.
Umbara really parallels the Pacific Theatre; insane ambushes, heavy losses, Aerial and Navy bombardment. God, the Umbarans might even be the Japanese while the Republic forces could look like the good'ol USA.
I was a bit nervous going into this video because I haven't seen the Battle of Umbara is a really long time, but it was worth it. I honestly think Cartoon Network shouldn't have included the chips at all. The Clones were given ample reason to kill the Jedi. Here's a list: 1.) That 90 degree assault 2.) Battle of Geonosis, going in with no cover and just getting slain in droves 3.) Obi-wan's line: "They are doing their job, we have to do ours" meaning "leave the clones to be slaughtered, it will keep the vulture droids busy." (ROTS) 4.) The Battle of Umbara 5.) Remember when Asohka got her squadron killed because she thought she could make it? 6.) and much much more. So to be honest, when the 501st marched into the Jedi Temple following Anakin, I bet they were all smiling because they were about to get their revenge.
Also, Krell hated clones because he was a Sith wannabe. He was just ready to jump. Jedi who hated clones didn't bother wasting clone lives; they just never worked with clones to begin with, like Rahm Kota.
I always admired the struggle clones like five's endured over the Jedi's because not only are they fighting a war but struggle with being different while being the same as their brother in arms. The Jedi just seem to know what their doing at all times, and with relative ease. Also, is their any information as to when Rex took out his chip and why he wasn't apart of the Jedi Temple attack? Was he allowed to retire before the end of the war or what?
This story arc not only showed how the clones matured and some Jedi had actually become competent commanders but also a foreshadowing of the future Empire. A military action to bring a planet and populace back into compliance, instead of negotiations. To be fair the Umbarans were put in a rock and a hard place situation.
The 501st are Anakin's clone battalion, while the 212th are Obi-Wan's clone battalion. The 212th Attack Battalion helped Obi-Wan on his mission to fight the Separatists droid army on Utapau and Obi-Wan succeeded by killing General Grievous. The 501st Clone Legion helped Anakin Skywalker later known as Darth Vader on his mission to kill the Jedi and the Temple Gurads inside the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and Anakin succeeded by killing the younglings. The 212th are orange and the 501st are blue. Commander Cody is the Commander of the 212th Attack Battalion. Captain Rex is the Captain of the 501st Legion. Appo was a Sergeant and Rex a Captain of the 501st.
It's true the tactics the Umbarans use are cowardly, but they're really smart. It's the perfect strategy. The Clones are definitely significantly better fighters, way more skilled, and better trained, so the Umbarans use their superior technology. It would have suicidal for the Umbarans to try to the fight the Clones up front, but I bet the 212th had larger engagements while taking the capital. I wouldn't even consider it an insult to the Umbarans, who are well-trained and skilled, but the Clones are the best non-force-using soldiers and warriors ever, in the galaxy.
The asymmetric tactics that the Umbarans used weren't cowardly, they were smart. Yes, it sucks being on the receiving end of guerrilla warfare, but we (the fledgling US) pretty much did the same thing during the revolutionary war.

Was he the one who was frozen up to the force awakens or was that kix?
Agent X That was kix
It's true the tactics the Umbarans use are cowardly, but they're really smart. It's the perfect strategy. The Clones are definitely significantly better fighters, way more skilled, and better trained, so the Umbarans use their superior technology. It would have suicidal for the Umbarans to try to the fight the Clones up front, but I bet the 212th had larger engagements while taking the capital. I wouldn't even consider it an insult to the Umbarans, who are well-trained and skilled, but the Clones are the best non-force-using soldiers and warriors ever, in the galaxy.
Definitely my favorite arc
Its nice to see other people who understand how great the ideal of clone troopers is
The asymmetric tactics that the Umbarans used weren't cowardly, they were smart. Yes, it sucks being on the receiving end of guerrilla warfare, but we (the fledgling US) pretty much did the same thing during the revolutionary war.

Summary Punishment.
Punishment of one accused of a crime without a full trial. Instated multiple times throughout history, including WW2 in the USN (briefly).
