    I had one in the 70s. Would fly in no wind. I had trouble getting it down! Fabulous !

    THAT is the plane that got me interested in RC soaring as a kid. Spent summers in Germany. Killed lots of time looking a Graupner catalogs. Fell in love with that plane...and the Cumulus.

    The Cirrus was the 1st glider I ever saw, at Kite Hill in 1973. Love at 1st sight.

    Ah, memories on reading the Graupner catalogue 30 yeard ago! Cirrus was the largest glider having 3m span, then Cumulus 2,80.

      I like the old Graupner gliders, This one I build in 1974, and I was lucky to find 1 extra Cirrus + a Cumulus and a 2,6 meter Foka and a 2,2 meter Foka very cheap on the web 😃

    Do you have contrary aileron roll mixed into your rudder?

    • @SpeedsterDEN
      @SpeedsterDEN  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't use aileron to rudder mix, because it goes the wrong way when flying inverted :)

      Very good point!
      Your property there is so nice for slope soaring. Some day I'm gonna figure out where to go around here to do that. There's a place a few hours away...which make it a tough sell, plus my precious ASW28 is still dead...

    In the 70s I had a Graupner Mosquito 2.5m sailplane, really loved it. I never managed to get my hands on a Cirrus, my ultimate dream glider at the time.

      I also loved the Cirrus from the first time I saw it, a few years after in 1974 I finally got this one and it's a pleasure to fly if you make it with ailerons.A few years ago I found another one very cheap, and I also have the Cumulus 2,8 and the Foka 2,6 and Foka 2,2 in my Graupner vintage glider collectionth-cam.com/video/o1JCrLQJzzM/w-d-xo.html

    I had a Cirrus back in the mid 70's. Beautiful glider to fly in a time where only preset channels would be able to fly by using a tag at the base ground because of limited frequencies, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28 and 30. So different today with 4G and so on. Today I have its wing templates. I wish to start again but don't have the full size plans that came with it. What sort of video camera did you use?

    After 35 years, I'm re-entering the world of RC gliders. I'm getting a Radian, but will fetch my vintage Cirrus from my Mum's (she will be pleased) and have a go with it too.... Might need some new solar film after 3 decades...

      Mine is over 40 years old, and still with the same covering :), I just came back from the RC Club where We were towing the Cirrus after a Funcub, and I had the first pure thermal flight this year. 24 min. 12 sec. :) Still going strong.

    Hi SpeedsterDEN!!
    What slope is it you're flying on? I'm looking out for slopes either around Hurup Thy or between it and Silkeborg. Any suggestions are welcome, though I believe you're usually much more up north...

    hi there did you have to add much weight to the front of your graupner?ive bought one off ebay think its the 1968 vintage also what is the c/g set at from the leading edge please? hope to hear back from you soon and great video

    • @SpeedsterDEN
      @SpeedsterDEN  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Reeves CG is 78 mm from leading edge, and it need some lead in the nose,, more that can be in the front camber. You can Google Graupner Cirrus CG,, Pictures there you can find it :)

    I had one that flew just one time and crashed. Why ? My ailerons were reversed, and back inthe days there were no "electronic" reversing of servos. It had to be done mechanically. I tought "maybe I can work it out with reverse input" for this maiden flight (I was at the field and didn't discovered the reverse aileron until then, I know poor technique...) Within 10'' into the flight I crashed it in a hard roll. Thinking about the time it took to build it, I was quite angry at myself.

      I don't think there was a manual. Everything was printed on a large paper plan about 5 feet long and 3 feet wide. Maybe there was a manual, don't know. I wish I kept mine.

    El Cirrus ,no es un Vintage, es un buen aeromodelos, que muchos buenos y más caros de ahora aún no han podido superar. yo lo tuve en 1976 y era la envidia del Campo de Vuelo a RC ... Era el Cirrus ,El Campeón de los 3 metros.
