His ODI best record of 194 against india stood for years unbroken until sachin's 200 against south Africa....though many cricketers have surpassed 200 now but that 194 was exceptionally breathtaking and exquisite...i would rate rohit's 264 second on list after Anwar's 194....what a player

In those real and golden days of cricket, 194 was not an easy cake in the burning heat of Chennai. Now cricket has lowered so much in quality cz of it's commercialization that someday anyone can score 300+ in an innings or even in wwf type of T-20..that will not be a wonder

The ICC should allow 3 bouncers per over to compensate shorter boundaries, powerplays, free hits, heavy bats. and if they cannot do it ...than boundary line should be minimum 100 metres on all sides

Quite possibly the most elegant of all the attacking batsmen the world has seen ever, certainly the most elegant of ALL the batsmen emerged from Pakistan to this day. Among all Pakistani batsmen emerged to this day, only Yousuf Youhana (Mohammed Yousuf) and Misbah Ul Haq may have even come close in terms of the elegance in executing the strokes, but unlike these two who too are greats in their own right, Saeed Anwar had been an attacking batsman from the word go who quite consistently set the pace for his team demoralizing the bowlers upfront by a clinical display of attacking batsmanship as opposed to the more brutal game adopted by the likes of Sanath Jayasuriya and Adam Gilchrist (who too were greats without any doubt whatsoever, and were in a league of their own ! ....). Anwar batting at his best had been a sight to behold. In terms of batting, he had loads of talent, could bisect even the tiniest gap in the field quite effortlessly against ANY bowler. Despite being quite prolific even in Test Cricket, he never quite had the hunger/temperament to make his innings/hundreds really big (i.e. 200+), otherwise he could have challenged or even surpassed Lara in terms of sheer all-round ability/skill/talent as a batsman. BTW, I'm from Sri Lanka, but always had huge respect and admiration towards this guy as a batsman. I think the game of Cricket has now lost the real essence of it unlike the days in the past, starting from 2010 or so with the commercial exploitation of the game due to the widespread emergence of T20 leagues world over, but these videos take you back in the memory lane to its more cherished and glory days ....

Even in 90s , Pitches in SA were fast. Just time and flick it for a six. Just like Sohail Tanvir two sixes in t20 wc final in 2007.

Anwar always scored against India like Javed miendad. Anwar and amir Sohail, they were dangerous open batsmen, thrashed bowlers in the first 15 overs for many boundaries . Anwar lost his touch after 1999 though, I think his daughter passed away and he turned over a new leaf.
