  • The Canon Sure Shot AF35M II (Autoboy 2) is one of the most popular vintage film rangefinder camera made by Canon in the 1983.
    However, many flashes have stopped working on these cameras over the years that people have been using them. It seems that many of these cameras suffer from the same common issue of rust and corrosion on the camera's flash circuit.
    The good news is that the camera's flash can still be fixed! In this video, I will be going over how to easily fix the camera's flash and get it working again!

    This is the exact camera I have. I had been using it and then the next time I used it the lens didn’t open. I can hear a noise in the camera but the lens just isn’t opening/responding. What do you suggest?

    Hey, my Canon Zoom Prima 76 Aif works perfectly fine. It was my dad's old camera, I picked it up few days back. And I'm not really sure if the flash's working because when I set the camera's flash on while I'm taking a picture. It doesn't light up, well is it supposed to light up? Or the flash's not supposed to trigger? Could you help me out please? Thank you :)

    Hi, i recently got a Canon Autoboy 2 (i think its the same as a canon sureshot af35m) on ebay, which seemed to work great (including the flash). But after getting my film developed, every photo I took with the flash on ended up being a dark yellow blank picture. I know I took several of these in light enough conditions that there would have been a visible/noticeable photo even if lets say the flash wasnt synced properly. And the photos where the flash was off were fine. Ive tried googling and found hardly anything helpful, so i wondered if you had any ideas? I would be very grateful! Many thanks, Eve

    Hi Tuan! I don't know if you're able to help me out but I recently thrifted the Canon Sure Shot 70 Zoom. When you turn on the camera, the flash is supposed to pop up automatically. My flash only pops up half-way. The flash works fine, if I manually hold it up/pull it back. I was wondering if you had any idea on how to repair this. I've been trying to find solutions but it seems that this problem isn't as popular.

    • @tuanmai492
      @tuanmai492  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! Ah, unfortunately that seems to be a common issue with that model.
      I believe it happens due to the internal small wire that is tied to the flash to pull it up usually breaks over time.
      I have never actually tried fixing this issue, but I think I do have the exact same model with the same issue. I will take a look at it and see if I can come up with a solution for you!

      @@tuanmai492 Ah, I really tried to find info for this camera but I didn't know that it's a common problem! The camera is still functional but it does bother me slightly. I'm worried that the camera's flash will eventually lose its function, if I don't repair it ASAP. I tried digging around in the camera but I couldn't get to the part where the flash is mechanically pulled. Thanks for looking into it! It's fine if you can't figure it out. 😭

    Great fix man! I got one with a shutter that doesn't want to close. Any recommendations? Really want to get it working again.

    • @tuanmai492
      @tuanmai492  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you ! Actually, my friend had a similar situation where the shutter would not release because it was misaligned with the lens shield.
      I was able to fix it for him by taking off the front cover plate and getting all the gearing to match up with each other again.
      Although yours might be a different situation, hopefully that might help you as well.
      Definitely hope you can get yours working again !

    • @mielmcgregor4807
      @mielmcgregor4807 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tuanmai492 OK this is great! After I read your answer I started to look closer at the gears! I rearranged them like what seemed where they belong. And it's actually working a lot more than before! Before this nothing worked (only the flash made the high pitched noice when I opened it). The film rewind, the shutter button (etc) did'nt seem to budge. But now they do! It''s not fully fixed though. I have to press the shutter button twice before it goes off and winds the film (at the first click I hear a spring move, the second time it goes off). Also, the frame count doesn't move after taking a couple shot's (there is no film in it though).

    • @tuanmai492
      @tuanmai492  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to hear that! It sounds like your camera has correctly aligned the shutter with the lens shield and actually registers it turning on.
      As for pressing the shutter button twice before it goes off and winds the film, have you tried different / new batteries? This happens sometimes with weaker batteries, if not that it could still be some misaligned parts still.
      I believe the shutter count will only move with film in it, but don't quote me on that.

    • @silversobe
      @silversobe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shutter could possibly be bent inwards from impact. Try gently lifting the shutter windows outwards with a tweezers. Works for other cameras when the shutter wont open or sticks.
