    Best explanation on landings I have seen yet, nobody else talked about trying to level off at 6', 4' .... hold it level, then flare when you run out of energy. Great explanation this cleared it up for me.

    Great advice. For months, I never developed the discipline to look out at the horizon instead of the ground rush. One day it clicked. Now I only screw up half the time. I also need to exaggerate my foot placement before landing. One way out ahead of the other. I used to do some beautiful flares, but touch both feet at the same time and forget to run.

      Weve all been there. Seems like a right of passage to fluff a ton of landings but you cant let it stop you. One day it just clicks.

    Great pointers!
    I recently went through a bad landings funk. All good landings in school and for ~2 years afterward... then a couple dozen flights in a row having terrible landings. Often just taking a knee or falling over. Legs just collapsing on landing. Lots of skinned knees. :(
    I learned a couple things that are bringing me out of the funk.
    1) When doing 2hr long XC flights my legs were loosing strength and giving out on landing. They didn't feel asleep but they certainly didn't have good circulation. Now, when returning from long flights I get out of my seat to stretch and move my legs a bit while turning on the down wind before thinking about turning base.
    2) I also fell to the tightening straps too tightly. They felt loose, but now I check in my downwind that it's loose enough for me to get out over the reserve that's under my seat. When they were too tight my legs were out in front of me on the landing.
    3) As my landing funk worsened, I started fixating on the ground 15' in front of me which led to me flaring HARD and late so I mostly sort of stall right into the ground. Now, I force myself to look out in front of me and stretch out my flare.

    Great video. I started flaring too aggressive and coming down hard, then went too not enough flare and coming down real fast and sliding. I feel like I’m on the cusp but videos like this make me realize it just takes time. Thank you

      Thanks. Yes it takes practice thats for sure. it can be really tough when you start flying from your own spots when the rule is take off and piss off when all you need is to drill those launches and landings. But you will recognise when it feels a good landing and youll know why. It just clicks. Just takes some of us a little longer but we get there eventually.

    I eventually started foot drag landing, having good flare timing. I did a lot of general low flying, dragging corn is great fun. I think it helped me get comfortable being inches off the ground at speed.

    This was a big help to me. You described me at the beginning LOL - got into bad habits after leaving the field, then flaring too high, then hardly flaring at all. Looked at the Giles’ vid and something finally clicked - the check to level while looking at the horizon. Also your point about pressure not hand position. Thanks chap - awesome 👍

    Thanks a ton for the tips. You mentioned straps that are too tight and that really helped me as I had just adjusted my shoulder straps too tight and couldn't get forward upon landing. Much appreciated.

    Thank you for the tips. I've made around 10 flights so far but the majority were butt landings. My problem was I got bounce up when doing the flare, then I immediately did full flare but I just fell off to the ground quite hard.

      You're not alone. Its tough to break through that fear barrier but you've just got to land fast. The faster you are the more authority you will have. Believe me this video has come from some hard lessons learned. Stick with it. It will click. For me it was "check to level!" But everyone has their own eurika moment. Yours will come

    I could never get the landings right. I always crashed. My instructor gave up on me and I gave up on myself. My Parajet has been getting dusty in my workshop for over a year now. It's sad really as I loved flying...

    • @Parahooners
      @Parahooners  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nooo you can't give up. Trust me i know how you feel. The reason I made this video is because this is a lesson i have had to learn the hard way but once the penny drops you'll learn to love the landings. Don't ever give up on yourself and if your instructor couldn't put it in a way that works for you that says more about them than you. Dust it off and get out there

    My biggest thing is know the wind! Land into the wind it's very essential! 2nd thing keep your hands up until flare! You lose a lot of energy that could of went into your flare trying to "slow down" before you land.

    • @Parahooners
      @Parahooners  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lots of variables Deepak. How heavy you are. The wings rating. What you need to do is look at the weight rating of the wing and find one to match your all up weight including the weight of you fully dressed up with paramotor, fuel, reserve etc.

    • @DeepakSharma-wc1gr

      @@Parahooners yes I'm 52kg, and engine weight is 30 kg so which is best I don't have any idea that why I'm asking you

    • @Parahooners
      @Parahooners  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Deepak Sharma so a dudek universal 25.5 has a weight range of 70-95kg for PPG. Sounds about right. In an ideal world you want to ve on the heavy end of the weight range. Fyi your motor is likely 30kg dry. Fill it up and its probably a fair bit heavier.
