A person making their own money can obviously decide how to spend it, man or woman. They are opening their lives to us , but we should refrain from making such judgement. Me and my husband, moved to Singapore many years ago, he didn't find work for few years, being a doctor I made good money and we were happy. Only people outside would judge, because being a man if you do not make money, apparently hell breaks loose. One thing i would disagree with regards to one important thing to Canada is to carry all medications for common ailments including antibiotics as they aren't available without a prescription here. From my personal experience OTC medication in Canada like Tylenol isnt as effective as Indian medication.
