This doesn't seem to work in the original Men of War. I heard you say at the beginning that Assault Squad is "slightly different" in how you go about scripting paratroopers, but I don't have it so I would appreciate some help. The paratroopers don't seem to spawn, let alone drop, but the plane flies over. I followed all the steps, I'm pretty sure. Also: Thanks for making these videos, they helped me a lot. Without this channel I would be totally clueless with the Men of War GEM Editor and wouldn't be having such a blast making maps and battles and such. Your tutorials are really helpful! :)

123, I would really like to ask you to make a video on how to do the above, but then endlessly; I have a map where you as a Japanese assist the Germans in attacking a russian railroad; the Germans use paradrops to keep the attack going, however, it only spawns once, and then everything continues to be endless (which is good) but then the 2nd, 3rd and so on drop contain everything except the troops themselves.

What are the differences between the editor packaged with the original MoW and the editor packaged with the newest incarnation MoW AS2 (functionality/flexibility/units/terrain/custimization/etc)? IOW is the newer editors bang worth the extra buck? Or negligible?
Same thing pretty much, just one uses MoW assets and the other uses AS2 assets. In this case it's actually MOW AS1 he used so it's almost indistinguishable. I hear some commands were removed, changed or tweaked, but unless you make huge complicated machinimas, you won't really notice.

Somebody tried something like this before at digitalmindsoft forums, Skirmish Missions by SirHinkel, post #704 and onwards, but they would all land on the same spot. If you could make it work properly so they land apart like they do in your video then that would be a new trick they could use in their mods.

I believe you hit a certain button combination. Try and hit shift + v or shift + b. It should be something with a shift or ctrl plus a key combination. Sorry I dont know the exact the key combination. You will have to play around a bit.

yes it is. Take a look at my airstrike reinforcements video. Its the same process but instead of a plane. You would use a paratrooper. When you call that paratrooper as a reinforcement you would use the effect command to start the drop. Then the man drops down just like it does in this video but instead of it being random it is specific to where you have called the reinforcement. Allowing you to call it anywhere on the map.
Got it to work mimicking Hinkels method, the only drawback is that they all land in a weird synchronised cluster :P will send you a link when I upload to the workshop c:

Well what you mean. So you want patrols to go back and forth. If that is the case then just make two waypoints. Connect the first one to the second one and then select the second one and connect to the first one. So they are connecting each other. They will still be going in a loop but just back and forth instead.

Did you hit the ~ symbol. Its directly next to your 1 key and directly above the tab key on the keyboard. If you did that. Then you must have a Mac or some other obscure keyboard which requires you to hit key combinations to make it work. You might want to try and hold down shift or ctrl or even alt with the console key as well.
ZSESE Good. What else would you like to know? How to make soldiers stand to attention in rows when a General arrives for an inspection. How to make them talk and respond to your preset command, how to use waypoint to make soldiers do the unbelievable, lol.

It will help to make sure it runs correctly and checks it before running. 2). In the entity_state command you do not need examined and discovered on. Just remove the hidden tag and the inactive to off position. 3). For the effect command, instead of putting "paratrooper" as the effect. You put "start" instead.

If you go into the f2 screen and at the top there is a checked box, (Clip camera position) un-check that box and there will be no camera restrictions.

How do you make an artillery barrage. Like a zone where shells will land, without using cannons, just automated.
So you need to use a trigger and the spawn command. The explosions should be under "artillery".

Ben. the Editor is tricky. If you make a slightest mistake, nothing will work. Check and recheck the script to be sure.

Well what you mean. So you want patrols to go back and forth. If that is the case then just make two waypoints. Connect the first one to the second one and then select the second one and connect to the first one. So they are connecting each other. If you want this to work in 2023, in the entity state commands you must set "inactive" as "off". Otherwise it wont work.
