We weren't in the hearts and minds business back then. "Hearts and minds" is a public relations motto sold to the public during the Vietnam War to get public support for the war effort. Make no mistake, the US military is a meat grinder. Their mission is to wage and win wars. To take ground and to hold ground. To bend the will of the enemy so he sees things our way.
