    Hmmm. Tried to make a drink similar to this but as a sour. Traded whiskey for cognac and added egg white and 1/4 cinnamon syrup with cinnamon and shaved white chocolate on the foam but it honestly just tasted like a sour with a cinnamon nose. Wait. There’s the smallest hint of vanilla. Thought it would come through way stronger. 🤷‍♂️ Worth tinkering with. I bet Applejack would work great too.

    If you can shake until all the crushed ice is diluted, why do you shake gently rather than vigorously? It will dilute either way.

    • @TheEducatedBarfly
      @TheEducatedBarfly  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you can shake however you want, but theres no sense in shaking vigorously and putting the strain on your body specifically because you are shaking until everything is melted. Also you don't need to aerate the cocktail so theres no need.

    • @matthewurbas8889
      @matthewurbas8889 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The recipe for Liqueur 43 can't be made from an old roman recipe; since vanilla is a new world food and the romans didn't have access to vanilla.

    • @TheEducatedBarfly
      @TheEducatedBarfly  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      John-Ambrose Cox Licor 43 was based on an ancient Roman recipe known as Liqvur Mirabillis. That being said, the company itself was founded in the 1940’s. Nobody said the Romans had vanilla, it is also flavored with other aromatic herbs and spices.
