मैहर माँ शारदा का सबसे प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है जो मध्यप्रदेश के त्रिकुट पर्वत की मालाओं की बीच जमीन से 600 फीट की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। इस ऐतिहासिक मंदिर को माता के 51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक माना जाता है। कहा जाता है कि यहाँ माता सती का हार आकर गिरा था। इसी कारण इस मंदिर का नाम शारदा माता मंदिर पड़ा। इस मंदिर की ख़ास बात ये है कि ये एक ऐसे पर्वत पर बसा है जो त्रिकुट के बिलकुल मध्य में स्थित है। इस मंदिर पर पूरे 1065 सीढियाँ है।
Maihar is a city in Madhya Pradesh. It is best known for the famous temple of Maa Sharda Devi, situated on the top of the Trikoota Hills, which can be reached after climbing 1,065 steps.
The name of city means ‘mother’s necklace’, and it got this name because, as per Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva was carrying mother’s body (mata sati) when her necklace fell down. The place where it fell was in this city, which is why it is called Maihar.
