Is there a governor on that engine? I don't see the flyballs, controlling the speed. In the video, it seemed like it was difficult, to get the engine to run a steady speed. (necessary, to maintain 50 Hz)
I really wish that they could just shut up and listen to the engine. I'd really like to record that one of a kind sound to use it as percussion in a composition. I've listened to hundreds of these videos, and the sound this one made while starting is really different than the rest. Oh well - filter the hell out of it.
Very nice! Where is it? (I think I heard Russian.. "Rabote" means work, right?) For how long it stood idle? Except oiling/greasing/fueling, what did you do to bring it back to life? Long live old mechanics!
I see the Horsepower listed below. And I think 40 kw is listed as electrical output. Anyone aware of what the fuel consumption might be? Would these engines be very flexible on fuel, ie high/low quality diesel, vegi oil etc. In constant use what would be the expected run time before overhual needed.
These engines are pretty reliable, simple in operation and they dont require lots of maintenance works, their lifespan is pretty long compared to other engine types, i dont know for sure the overhaul intervals but i can assure you they last at least thousands of working hours. Kilo watts is a unit to measure work and to know the power output an engine can develop and its not strictly applied to electric motors, it is also often related to horsepower on gasoline engines and turbines. Im just getting into knowing how these engine works, correct me if im wrong but their working principle is the same as the hot bulb engine, meaning they can run almost with any kind of oil as long as the auto ignition temperature point is relatively low making them very cheap to run.
THE HOLS IN THE WELLS IS A GOOD THINKING,ALL COUNTRY HAVE SOMETHING DIFERENT WITH THERE ENGINE ,I WISH 2 SEE IN SIDE THE ENGINE ,THANK U GOOD LEARNING ,Y CHILDREN GO 2 SCHOOL.INTERNET IS THE BEST SCHOOL 4 CHILDREN WITH THERE PARENT 2 .SERVANT OF GOD.
Why not have some kind of starter flywheel that you spin up by hand and once its up to speed it attatches to the regular flywheel and gets it going fast enough to start. That way you wouldn't need an air start method or anything else. It would be a much more efficient starting method.
Nice engine video Hannu.
I was born about 50 years too late! These old machines are fascinating
The resonance of the exhaust stroke is mezmorizing!
.
I love this! Engines and generators. My favorite. Great video
Beautiful symphony of clunks and bongs.
¡Fantastico! Muy bonito sonido. ¿Fue el medidor de frecuencia no en trabajo?Fantastic! Very beautiful sound. Was the frequency meter not working?
This was probably more likely made in the 1915-1920 time frame...it's a solid injection engine.
I have to laugh, 4 guys talking and one guy working. just like always.

Generador de motor diesel MARSHALL puesta en marcha muy buen video
Ahh, thats old musical engines.
This is interesting i have never seen anything like this before wow

That round thing is the governer with the rotating balls inside.

+Nott Happening It"s a Diesel.
Was this engine made in England? Has to be the largest single-cylinder horizontal diesel I've ever seen.
No
Was this made by the same Marshall which made tractors?
What's the max out put of the generator ?
very cool nice video guys
Why is it squeaking so much while being turned by hand? Sounds like a dry bearing.
Escaping air from the cylinder
Doug Elick
Or the generator brushes..
+Doug Elick Do V-belts squeak?
how many horsepower on this engine?
Art in action
By God! Thats a pissy little generator you´ve got hooked up to that thing.

What is the torque rating on this?
much more than any Honda.... sorry, i'll get my coat.
Did anyone else note that cute rectangular Furby at 1:30->?
Based on Hannu's mention of 100 hp at 300 rpm, then torque would be 1750
At the start oil crankshaft by keu groove
about 100 hp 300 rpm 42 liters
stsrt show up in the summer according to the timetable
Awesome in anybodys language!

this is from finland
Some one fix that bearing!
I have the same generator but the electrical harness Was cut and I don't have the electrical scheme to put it back in service , can anyone help me ?

Are we sure its running and not being spun over by that electric motor?? No diesel knock . . . .
+Harry Henderson It's that poping sound. It definitely is running
+Harry Henderson That's just stupid. Why would anyone do that? It's not a fake perpetual motion machine.
