Everything about this video was exactly what I needed to hear. And your time with your grand-dog made my heart feel so full. Nothing like the love of a pet.🥰
A waterproof, warm and minimalist bathroom light suggestion is the Olight Obulb in white. It is sphere (tennis ball size) of warm light that has an adjustable brightness and a magnetic base so you can attach it to any metal surface in the bathroom. It is so waterproof I even take it in the shower when I don’t want to turn on the harsh overhead lights.
thank you. villa (sorry), is lucky for having you as his mother. i wish i had a mother like you instead! i really mean that! you are an amazing person and mother. thanks.
As we age we need to prioritise balance exercises first and foremost to help prevent falls, strength to maintain bone density to help prevent stress fractures or breaks, and suppleness to reduce joint aches and pains.
I agree with everything especially the night time sleepy tea! We drink a mug before bed and sleep so well. I need to incorporate an open window. That seems like a great idea.
@@BenitaLarsson When you drink tea just before bed, does it not wake you up to go to the bathroom? I find that if I drink anything just before bed, then it wakes me up as I have to go to the bathroom more frequently.
Thank you for yet another fantastic video 😊 unfortunately for me I watched it from bed, where I have been spending a lot of time. I have injured my medial meniscus and first thing tomorrow morning i am having an MRI scan to find out how extensive the damage is 😕. I like walking and I really should start some strength training. My mom who is almost 72 broke her femur last year just after Easter 😮 she needed to have surgery, but made a remarkable and speedy recovery 😊. She doesn't drive and will walk to all sorts of places 😊. She is a real busy person and loves to scratch around in the garden ☺️☺️☺️.
@@BenitaLarsson thank you Benita, the MRI scan actually showed a stress fracture in my tibia 😳😳😳. I can't do any impact exercises for the next couple of months, but swimming is encouraged ☺️👍. I'm going to go to my local pool and sign up 👍.
My fitness routine involves gardening, snow shovelling, home maintenance (a two storey house), furniture refinishing, and physio exercises (for flexibility and strength) since a shoulder injury many years ago. Food choices involve poultry, fish, and fresh vegetables. I make a habit of eating my final meal of the day before 4:30 pm. Yes, I do eat badly sometimes but try to not make a habit of it!😉
An interesting video. Thanks. We are similar ages and I have concluded that the key for me is to find the right balance between pursuing health and enjoying life. My parents are in their 90s and did all the right things to maintain physical and mental health. Unfortunately they have outlived all their friends and family. Now in their extreme old age they have poor health and I don't want the same for me. So I'm focusing on trying to maintain my current health with a similar programme as yours but I don't want to pursue health and fitness at all costs
Hi Benita & co. I too don’t drive so walk everywhere. I also do a 30min power walk with hand weights a couple times a week and enjoy yoga as my body needs the stretching. I’m a carer as a job and care for my elderly Father so that too keeps me fit and busy. Thanks for enjoyable video ❤
Dear Benita! Lovely dog😍you are surely missing Bonus, so I can understand your searching the company of an animal 🤗wonderful routines that you follow, what I prefer is a warm porridge with nuts and fruits in the mornings, gives me power and feels so good with my stomach 🤗the combination of walking and muscle workout is perfect, I follow a you tube channel by a German fitness trainer called Gabi Fastner, cardio, stretching, coordination etc…. 20-30 minutes every day, a very down to earth workout, I love it and I am doing quizzes with my friends regularly. My sleep app is called Headspace, works very well…. You seem to be very happy and relaxed, it’s a joy to watch that…. Have a nice week ahead! Cheers from Iris from southwest Germany 🌸🌻😌🙋♀️🙏
Benita, you are so inspiring😊 I’m 48 years old and have recently started incorporating some of these techniques into my daily life, but have a ways to go. Thank you for sharing your tips❤️
We are so glad you are feeling so strong and healthy! We love that Kris has perfectly modified your workout plan to exercises that don't affect your arthritis and joint pain. You are crushing it 🤩Thanks for sharing trainwell!
Such a great video Benita ..I’m currently on vacation in Portugal and hiking up and down the steep streets of Porto and other villages has made me realize how unfit I am and how important strong legs , ankles and feet are for good balance, especially on uneven cobble stones and ancient, 500 year old steps !!! I’m returning home tomorrow with a renewed intention to focus more on my fitness levels. PS: I turn 60 next year too, so you’re truly an inspiration to me !!! I want to feel the same as you do …in better shape than I was in my youth
Sei veramente d’ispirazione cara Benita, ho appena fatto i 50 anni e mi rendo conto che è davvero necessario mantenere i muscoli attivi. Sono una pigrona ma il tuo video è di ispirazione. Grazie come sempre cara Benita love from Switzerland ❤
Hello Benita. I always find a "take away" from your vlogs. Inspiration, simple advice, similarities in lifestyle. I find it encouraging to know others do the same. I do in-studio pilates twice weekly - which I love, swim when I can, but motivation to exercise at home is a challenge. So I decided to sign up with Trainwell, to see if the program and support will help to keep me accountable. I am 64 and have joint pain and walking distance limitations due to my lower spine, but I know how important it is to keep physically active. Thank you for sharing your routine. And I agree, being outside in the garden helps both physically and mentally. The summer house is looking beautiful :)
Benita, i feel like we are sisters from a different mother. you a swedish mom and me a canadian mom. i too love being physically busy and getting physically exhausted. i also love to fix things and challenge myself that way. we are almost the same age as well! i just wanted to let you know how much i enjoy your videos.
I have also started weight training 2 months ago. I haven’t lost weight but I do feel stronger. Glad you are enjoying your workouts, your summer home and being close to family and that adorable grand dog 🥰😍
Love your Videos! Calm, beautiful and so inspiring! I'm 52 now and also found out how important strength training and streching for my body is. Also started to continue education by learning new things , it's so much easier today with -for example- you tube! Thanks for the lovely content😊
You really are fit! I can’t believe you can stand on one leg. That’s impressive. I’ve just started balance exercises and I can’t do that yet. I’d never guess you are going to be 60 this year. 👍🏻
Love your videos! Would you do an advice vid on how you cared for the cats? Give us tips on how you think they aged so well? Food, supplements etc. My condolences also.
What a fantastic video! I think all of the suggestions are equally important but staying physically engaged makes all the other points easier! I will probably still work in my profession for a while but once I retire, I plan on going back to school. We love so long now, we can have two or three lives if we’re lucky! Love your videos, Benita. Thank you for your creative work!
Hi Benita, I watch every one of your videos when you launch them. At the same time esthetically pleasing, calming and motivating. I love it! I have a question: some time ago you mentioned the set up of the little light on your bedroom wall with the candle and I would like to do something similar, but I can't remember the exact video in which it was. Maybe you can help me? Thank you and keep up making these videos, they are much appreciated! X

Hi Benita, I love love this video you are so inspirational in everything you do. I have recently ‘fallen off the wagon’ with my exercise/fitness routine and watching you this morning has truly inspired me to get started again, so as off this morning 16/10/24 my Pilates mat is on the floor dumbbells (2kg) are also making a long overdue appearance so I am off on a fitness journey all thanks to you - much appreciated!!😊👍
Hi Benita! Saga is such a sweetie! Your videos always have such good tips and are motivating, thank you! I do a lot of the same things as you, and one good related thing I’ve been focusing on as an older woman is increasing my protein as well, to also help build and retain muscle mass.
I live in the USA and I so enjoy watching your videos and have gotten a lot of help on how to simplify and enjoy the good and simple things. You don’t have to answer this but do you watch TV or do you not have a TV and that keeps you doing other things instead? Thanks again for all of your videos and I agree you don’t even look 50 years old. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
I agree that having a toned body helps us avoid injury and I'm glad you didn't get hurt the day you tripped. What is it you spray on your exercise mat ?? Is it water?
Walking, cycling and gardening, no need for fitness for me! 🙂 My dog it is the best motivation to get up from my bed in the morning! Thank you for the advice, very nice video!
Thanks for all your inspiration! i'm 66 and retiring at the end of the month. We live in a 30 year old Danish wooden house, there is a lot to paint, repair and redesign the garden. I'm looking forward to it and I'm excited to see what you've learned to do yourself. There's a lot I'd like to do after you! I started strength training a few weeks ago and it's really good for me, although it was hard at first. I'm looking forward to spending more time in the fresh air, maybe even winter swimming in the lake around the corner, after my 40+ years in an office job. Thank you Benita! One question: where did your basket for the laundry in the living room come from?
Really enjoyed this vlog as I am approaching 60 in February 2025. I keep fit walking my dog twice a day and staying active around the house. I really struggle to sleep well and it’s something I need to address. I get very tired and then want to reach for sweet things in the evening. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes Karen 🧡🍁🍂🤎
This was very helpful for me. I too have arthritis in my shoulder and hips. My hips I can manage but my shoulder is very restricting and painful. I used to do yoga and I loved it. But lots of poses uses my shoulder and it is too painful. I have just bought some weights. So Trainwell may really help me. Thank you ❤ Eating a higher protein diet for me has helped stop me snacking in between meals ( I am also 60 🫣) Have a great week 🌿
I rewinded the video twice when you said your age.. could not believe what I heard, you look much younger :) Congratulations on living a healthy lifestyle.
Wonderful video. Perfect music 🎶 Your new chairs look great at the table. The beautiful shot of the colorful leaves in the sunshine was stunningly gorgeous. Thanks for creating this inspiring content. 😊
Since perimenopause, I learnt that it's important to eat lots of cruciferous vegetables, protein, oily fish and fibre rich foods. I also focus on strength training now, instead of cardio.
I would have never guessed you were older than me I had actually guess much younger, you are so clever and so active and such an inspiring lady and Mum. I do walking as well and trying to do more walking as can't do weights. Making sure I sleep and eat well within my advised by GP diet. You should write a book I am sure it would be an inspiring read :)
As a 63 year old I can understand the aches and joint pains, Not fun! I walk daily and 3 mornings a week with my bestie where we catch up on our news. Saga looked so happy to see you 😃
Hej Benita....Good video and lovely dog 🥰 You are a living example of how to approach life as a woman after 50-55-60. Exercise is the key, being regulary active, no need to run marathons ( and if you do, good for you) but to keep a routine, every day or every week ( walking, swimming, dancing, cycling...) and adding more weight lifting to your life ( according with your needs and limits). As a nutritional coach , I would like to add that a good combination of the mediterranean and the nordic diets, avoiding too much saturated. fat, salt and sugar, it helps to keep healthy. Fresh and seasonal food , good proteins ( eggs, fish, legumes, nuts, chicken more often, veal, pork some times) , wholemeal bread, pasta, rice, salads,fruits... I agree with you, fill up your life with those things that makes you happy, a simple detail that makes you smile or anything that makes you feel satisfied, useful, alive. Well done Benita!! Thank youfor sharing.Vi ses🌻!
Love your videos Benita!❤ Always so cozy and aesthetic, they are mind soothing😇 I also walk everyday, I try to find balance between rest and being active. And slowly but surely hope to try out mild calisthenics soon...Ha en underbara dag!😊
Hi Benita, I have followed you for over a decade, first by reading your blogs and then here. As I embark on possibly another decade or two of living alone, I want to hear your thoughts in a video about how you foresee your life living alone into the future. What plans do you have in place for a change of life or lifestyle or mindset? Thank you.

Thanks for the tip! My lights are dimmable which works really well, I just would have loved a real candle.
Sighthounds are gorgeous souls, happy to sleep the day away after a good walk, loving, unintrusive, gentle. ❤❤

thank you. villa (sorry), is lucky for having you as his mother. i wish i had a mother like you instead! i really mean that! you are an amazing person and mother.
I’m amazed that the tea helps so much! Wish I’d listened to my mum!
@@BenitaLarsson When you drink tea just before bed, does it not wake you up to go to the bathroom? I find that if I drink anything just before bed, then it wakes me up as I have to go to the bathroom more frequently.
@@teresa5007I don’t drink it right before going to bed, I just have it in the evening and can use the bathroom before going to bed!
I recently discovered your channel and am so grateful for your content! Thank you from a 45 year old female in America. ❤
Welcome and thanks so much for watching!
Thanks so much for watching! I hope you’ll recover quickly!
@@BenitaLarsson thank you Benita, the MRI scan actually showed a stress fracture in my tibia 😳😳😳. I can't do any impact exercises for the next couple of months, but swimming is encouraged ☺️👍. I'm going to go to my local pool and sign up 👍.
@@anaalves3658Oh no! Swimming is nice and gentle so that sounds like a great idea!
Yes, I do eat badly sometimes but try to not make a habit of it!😉
Sounds like you have a great routine! I also eat my main meal of the day at around that time but tend to snack after😬
An interesting video.
That sounds sensible!
I have so much respect for that profession! You really need to be fit and strong for that!

I’m so happy you’re here watching! Thank you!
Tack så mycket för att du delar med dig av dina hälsosamma vanor, Benita.
I'm so happy you found it helpful! Those cobbled streets are tricky to maneuver!
Sei veramente d’ispirazione cara Benita, ho appena fatto i 50 anni e mi rendo conto che è davvero necessario mantenere i muscoli attivi. Sono una pigrona ma il tuo video è di ispirazione. Grazie come sempre cara Benita love from Switzerland ❤
Grazie mille! So happy if you’re inspired by the video!
I think you’re going to love having a PT! It’s made all the difference for me!
Estás fantástica Benita...eres un ejemplo a seguir en muchos aspectos...me inspiras, no te quepa duda que nos movilizas❤

I have also started weight training 2 months ago. I haven’t lost weight but I do feel stronger. Glad you are enjoying your workouts, your summer home and being close to family and that adorable grand dog 🥰😍
I also haven’t lost weight, I’ve probably gained some because muscle weights more than fat!💪🏻✨
Love your Videos! Calm, beautiful and so inspiring! I'm 52 now and also found out how important strength training and streching for my body is. Also started to continue education by learning new things , it's so much easier today with -for example- you tube! Thanks for the lovely content😊
I’m so happy you enjoy them!
I agree, Saga stole the show!🥹
You really are fit! I can’t believe you can stand on one leg. That’s impressive. I’ve just started balance exercises and I can’t do that yet. I’d never guess you are going to be 60 this year. 👍🏻
Those balance exercises saved me from that fall! Highly recommend!

Hi Benita! Saga is such a sweetie! Your videos always have such good tips and are motivating, thank you! I do a lot of the same things as you, and one good related thing I’ve been focusing on as an older woman is increasing my protein as well, to also help build and retain muscle mass.
I think I should definitely up my protein game!
I live in the USA and I so enjoy watching your videos and have gotten a lot of help on how to simplify and enjoy the good and simple things. You don’t have to answer this but do you watch TV or do you not have a TV and that keeps you doing other things instead?

I agree that having a toned body helps us avoid injury and I'm glad you didn't get hurt the day you tripped. What is it you spray on your exercise mat ?? Is it water?
I would have hurt myself so badly!

Congratulations on your retirement!🎈 I got the basket from a store called World of Craft in Stockholm!

Thanks so much for all the food advice!
