I think this is fabulous. If sewing isn't a STEAM activity, I don't know what is. I love that you've created all these formulas to calculate what you want. Well done 👏
Thank you! I want to make a tiny one of these with a divider to store my ‘wonder clips’. I knew I could watch a couple videos and probably figure it out, but this is so much easier!
Thanks for sharing! Wonderful lesson for drafting one’s own pattern for any size! How easy this is to follow! Now I can make one fat or skinny, longer or shorter and don’t have to be restricted to the sizes of other pattern makers! You have blessed all of us with your sharing!!!🥰
🥰🫶 thank YOU! I'm glad you like it. TH-cam unfortunately will still not let me add multiple language audio to my Videos.. but there is a sewing Tutorial I made for this pouch which has Englisch subtitles. Maybe you will find that helpful, too. 👉 th-cam.com/video/kgwronynr9M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=42z8AbeCH6yf-lfz and here is a Version with inside pockets: th-cam.com/video/2XlH76ByIVw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Aey78LCgybXyDBDT
Thank you so much! 💖 I just uploaded a version with inside pockets. Captions im other languages are not yet online, but will be within the next few days 🤗 th-cam.com/video/2XlH76ByIVw/w-d-xo.html
Then be sure to check out my sewing video here: th-cam.com/video/kgwronynr9M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=eZMX_-jDIez03L1r and the version with inside pockets, here: th-cam.com/video/2XlH76ByIVw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SdN3APeIQzs3jmAp they both come with English captions.
I just discovered your channel and really like it. I was scrolling down all the comments in the German tutorial hoping there is an English version as I really like to learn the formula. And voilà🤩😍😘😍🤩😘 Thanks so much for the tutorial!! It's very very useful to learn how the formula work. Although I enjoy the original tutorial in German, I really appreciate your efforts and time in creating an English version 🥰 It would be nice to add a link in English version in the description box for all your future tutorial for quick reference.
I'll do that! Thank you! 💗 I try to add English Captions/subtitles to all my videos, but have been a bit lax about it 🙈 so if there's a video you have difficulty following because it is missing said captions, please let me know.
Thank you so much! Please have a look around on my channel. 🤗 I'm working on putting up English Captions for all my sewing videos, but am lagging behind on it, ''cause it's a lot of work (auto-translation is usually a bit off).. so please let me know if there is any video you have difficulty following or are missing the captions.
I made a video on how to make a version with inside pockets and devider. It's in German but has English captions: th-cam.com/video/2XlH76ByIVw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ni9QeL-ZnfZAI4vL
Amazingly useful. I found this on Pinterest & hated that it sent me to TH-cam, but I'd be willing to watch more videos if they were all this good. ❤ how you used MATH!
🥰 glad it helped and thank you for commenting ❤️ I like using math ☺️ and I like trying to explain it in a way even math hating people might understand...which makes youtube the best option. Most of my videos are im German with English captions. Have a look at my channel sometime 🤗
Great explanation! Just wanted to note that everywhere there is '2a' measurement, it probably should be '2a + finsished zipper width', 2cm or so. I have sewn three now and in everyone of those '2a' long side was shorter then 2 'a' sides with the ziper sewn in by exactly finished zipper width. You could always cut the ziper corner, but it distorts the cube shape. I hope I'm making sense here :).
Genial!!! Estaba buscando algo parecido para poder hacer el mío con mis medidas, pero ¿cómo hacer cuando los costados no forman un cuadrado o si quisiera colocar el zipper en la parte superior? ¿me podrías ayudar?.
I used a 1cm seam allowance. And added seam allowances to the measurements where needed. Starting with 04:00 in this video you see where I add them. That's the "+2cm seam allowance" or "+4cm" in the formulas. So whereever I add "+2cm" you could instead add 2 of your individual Seam Allowances if 1cm doesn't work so well for you. Where I say +4cm, add 4 of your seam allowances instead.
Yes but I don't understand how that translates to making the pattern...Like when drawing my pattern for my outside fabric do I mark "a+2cm" on my paper or just "a"?@@mommymade
maybe just rewatch the video one more time. The sizes that are stated on the overview screen of what pieces you will need (example: something with a side length of a+2cm) is the size of fabric you need. The pattern drafting is a different thing. For the big main pattern just mark exactly what I show you to mark (example one side is a+b+a). That pattern doesn't includes seam allowances. You add those around the outsides when cutting your fabric, which is why your fabric piece needs to be (at least) a+b+a+2cm seam allowance
So you can make it literally ANY size you could possibly want! There are tons of printable patterns in various sizes out there. But what if they are a size you don't want? This is the only Tutorial that shows you how to draft your own in the size YOU want.
I think this is fabulous. If sewing isn't a STEAM activity, I don't know what is. I love that you've created all these formulas to calculate what you want. Well done 👏
Thank you! ❤️ I try to make the math as accessable for everyone as possible 😊

Do you mean STEM?
This is a fantastic tutorial; concise and informative. The math was a highlight of my experience. Thank you.

How did you calculate the seam allowances? I understand what to do if I want a specific measurement but like how do I adjust for my seam allowances?

That's the "+2cm seam allowance" or "+4cm" in the formulas. So whereever I add "+2cm" you could instead add 2 of your individual Seam Allowances if 1cm doesn't work so well for you.
