You saved me so much time, money and frustration - I can't say Thank You! enough!!!! My cup holder broke and I needed to replace it - so I bought the part and finally thought about checking You Tube for some helpful hints. Everything you said and showed was exactly how it looked - the three screws came off easy and went back on the same way. You are a life saver - I have been so miserable without my cup holder - so my hats off to you dear gentleman - keep up the good work. Paula in California
Great video for removing/replacing the cup holder! After removing both units I discovered that the screw that holds the vent and the cup holder together had come loose and allowed the two units to separate. This was preventing the cup holder from coming out. I reattached the two units, tightened the screw, reinstalled and my cup holder worked as it should.
just like i did- have the cup holder out and give it a giggle left and right while pulling back lightly. trim removal and replacement can be precarious, but once you do it for a while you get an idea of how much pressure plastics can take. be firm, be brave, but be careful. it'll be ok- good luck
the bad news is most of the time you arent able to repair the single components because they are intricate and brittle that even if you did try it wouldnt work the same and you cant buy single parts for them. if youre looking to save money the only two options would be to source the part aftermarket (from a general autostore) or second hand from an auto wrecker
Hi there! If I don't have a cupholder, how can I get out the screw behind the cupholders cover? So basically I have only a cover, that doesn't move. Should I pop that somehow out? I'm affraid I crack it.. Thank you for the answer!
I'm not 100% sure but I would expect it to pop right off. best off using plastic trim removal tools if you have them. if you have a replacement vent with cup holder ready to go then you don't need to worry too much about cracking it- you've already got the replacement part. all the best

Thanks. That was educational.
This is great but after removing the two screws The upper right side feels very stuck. Any suggestions. I am afraid just to pull it out.
Thanks! Great Video
Is there a drinks holder that goes inside the centre armrest of my BMW Z4 2011?

if your Z4 doesn't come with a cup holder, can one be installed into the existing air vent? cheers
how did your cupholder retrofit go mate? any issues?
i suspect so, but as far as i knew they were standard on all z4 models
