Thanks for posting and sharing. Just bought the ‘06 Z4 si and completely agree on the poor design with the flimsy cup holders. I agree with Oono’s comments re: cup size. I’d rather know my hot coffee is secure rather than sustaining a burn or the potential for tumbling coffee containers. It appears to me that the aftermarket still has considerable “play” when placing your GoGo cup in the aftermarket. There must be a better alternative OR downgrade the size of Americano in the morning!!! 😂

Interesting challenge. I am using smaller cups and they fit just fine. Using a thermoskan to keep more coffee hot. When I want another cup, time to take a break and refill the smaller cup.

That's a good idea. Honestly, I only use the cup holders when I drive the Z4 to work and take my coffee with me. On the weekends, I just focus on the driving. Thank you for your comment, and stay tuned for more videos!

Thanks, only video on non-OEM cup holders for a Z4 I've seen! I'm driving one now and both oem ones are stuck closed and they are bad anyway.
I was thinking of possibly moving the e-brake, but then when you shift the cup is in the way. I am thinking the best idea is similiar to this one shown,
but instead of on top of the pass seat, it is raised up over the console right next to the ebrake lever. Still not convenient for a passenger, but more room than the product shown.

I am looking an some type of roadster as a retirement gift to myself. Most have pathetic cup holders. Why they don't build these cars with the e-brake on the floor and leave room for a quality holder is beyond me.

1 problem your 2 seater has just become a 1 seater. It's not possible for a passenger to sit with that cup holder in place. It is not better than the standard one..

That's true. They are pretty easy to remove, though, so you can take it out if there is a passenger. I will say that my wife is in pretty good shape, so she can sit in the seat next to the cupholders, but the cupholders do take up too much room for most people.

Its a decent fix for when you don't have a passenger. And in my case. I almost never drive with a passenger. Good fix for some situations but not and end all solution for those that use the passenger seat

I got one and it still sucks! The thing tilts toward the right so you HAVE to have a cup with a lid on it that is secure or it will spill when taking turns, etc. I put a pad under it to try to "level" the cupholder but just gave up. BTW......I realized the square center compartment actually held my drink BETTER and more secure than the round cupholder compartments. Cupholders that actually work in this car is a losing battle.

Mine is staring to show extensive wear and tear. The “leather” is peeling off. It’s still practical and does an okay job of holding the cups in, but it’s not ideal.

What did you go with in the end? I just got a Z4 here in UK without any cup holders, and have begun to realise how big an issue this is lol
