No, it's to stop the belt from sending more material to the crusher, those guys have learned fairly well how to control the feed because it only takes one Rock too many in the wrong position to cause a half hour or 45 minute stop engine work to sledgehammer the rock so it can go down the chute.
To give an example, watch at 3:50...... The operator just left the belt running when there was only one Boulder stuck in the shoot that wouldn't go down, and look at the blockage that it caused..... He's lucky that those all went down because oftentimes they don't.

Your machine is worn out..needs work.and who ever is loading that rock needs to make it smaller..then you wouldn't have all those problems
