Luton born and bred .Loved living there and working at Vauxhalls. Big supporter of Luton town.The60s 70s and 80s were great times to live there .People are very friendly and had loads of great friends
Luton as i remember it, now i do not recognise Luton and what it has become i am so very glad i moved away never to return, however some 7 years ago for 3 days i went back and the placed scared me and my wife, its not a place to go to now.
How clean it looks compared to today ! People had respect for each n other their surroundings, unlike today. Luton is my home but the ethnic devide makes it to difficult to bring my family up there. What an absolute n UTTER shame.
These are the people that made Luton, and our country, great. Then along comes diversity and before you know it, its been destroyed. This is a record of how good things once were.
Interesting to see that Lutonians shared the same gripes & concerns as those still being voiced today. Housing, recreation, environment & traffic concerns are all mentioned. Luton Borough Council lost its way in the 80's & the town is now a pale comparison to the boom town it once was.
Like others I grew up there in the sixties and it was a industrious well run town. Today it is a perfect example of what can happen when immigration gets out of control. Very glad I don't live there now.
Luton has suffered just like all manufacturing towns…Free Market Capitalism… Purchase by Hedge Funds…load debt…cut costs and lay off workers..relocate to cheaper labor markets…declare bankruptcy …..move production to cheaper labor markets…gut pension schemes.. What more do you need with Capitalism. Labor is just a piece of production. Community left behind is irrelevant. Just look at the infrastructure in Luton. There is no maintenance of parks and public spaces. School playgrounds are sold off to developers os housing. Local Government has no budget to maintain libraries,, schools public spaces etc. Done in by Capitalist “If it doesn’t make money shut it down” Born at St Mary’s Hospital in Luton
Can you tell us where you found the Luton Girls Choir footage? I e been searching for it, and hoping it would be available one day. I think it was originally Anglia tv. We LGC old girls would love to see again.
What was the cycling? Surely not a leg if the Tour de la France (though they do hold them in the UK occasionally)? Maybe the, as was, 'Milk Race' running through Luton?
OK I'VE GOT MY ANSWER, I SEE A BLACKMAN 1:14, I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO THIS MAN TO FIND OUT WHAT IT WAS LIKE BEING BLACK IN THEM DAYS OF BEING IN LUTON TOWN, I LOVE THESE VIDEO'S, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

It's now a stinking shit hole.
I think we all know why Luton has sadly gone downhill......
I don't but please share.
@@ericathomas4155Because of the unappreciated overseas immigrants invading & destroying our town
It will be some nonsense about immigrants which shows an ignorance of the history of Luton and England.

Wow. It looked like a great place back then. No mention of LTFC which is a bit odd. They could have shown more of the Wardown park as well.

Was there any original sound with this movie???
