    The handpan is the perfect combination of percussion and melody instrument. It consists of two thin, assembled stainless steel bowls. The halves are elaborately hammered by hand as part of the manufacturing process. This creates dents and a small hill in the middle of the body. These surfaces form the various sound fields. Surrounded by a circle of 8 tones, the central note lies in the middle of the handpan. If the fields are played, bright, long-lasting sounds are produced.
    The high-quality material, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, gives the handpan its shine. Numerous other advantages go hand in hand with the versatile material. Weather and time cannot affect the elegant and futuristic design of the handpan. Stainless steel is resistant to water, humidity and weak acids. The handpan can therefore be taken anywhere. It can also be played in nature without consequential damage. The stainless steel surface allows the musician to use the instrument for many years without causing wear marks.
    The Sela Harmony Handpan is professionally and perfectly tuned. It impresses with quality and sound at the highest level. The handpan has an optimal resonance vibration across all tones. Disturbing metallic sounds do not occur during playing. The tones are bright and long-lasting. The reverberation of the individual tones is further enhanced by the stainless steel.
    The unique soft, ethereal and mysterious sounds of the instrument quickly attract the attention of the listener. The soothing sound takes them on a spiritual journey. The fascinating timbre of the Sela Harmony Handpan is ideal as a musical accompaniment for spiritual activities such as yoga or meditation. The sounds are already created with an easy response. Even the smallest nuances can be heard while playing. The result is an expressive and detailed performance.
    The Sela Harmony Handpan is ideal for beginners as well as professional musicians. Its nine notes lie on a common scale. With the Sela Harmony Handpan, fascinating sound patterns can be created despite its intuitive and simple playing technique. The soundscape ranges from simple to complex. The player is offered inexhaustible possibilities: More complicated rhythms, virtuoso melodies, captivating chords or two-voice melodies can be combined in many ways.
    A high-quality and padded bag is included in the scope of delivery. Thanks to its good lining, the bag provides optimum protection during transport. The tear-resistant nylon bag can be carried easily by hand with the two handles or comfortably as a backpack with the adjustable shoulder straps. Small accessories such as a metronome can be stored in the practical outer compartment.

    The Soul Of Sound:
    Innovations that groove: For almost 20 years Sela has been developing and producing successfully exceptional cajons for demanding musicians. During that time we have managed to continually improve our instruments and thereby continuously push the cajon development.
    All Sela products meet the highest demands in quality and usability. Our cajons are manufactured exclusively in Germany. Each model is thoroughly tested before delivery. You can tell it by the way it looks, feels and sounds. No wonder that more and more musicians all over the world discover their love to Sela cajons. We are happy to welcome a number of new and talented cajon players to the family of Sela endorsers: e.g. Todor Akimov (Germany), Bert Peyffers (Belgium), Jeremy Nattagh (France), José Carlos Vidal Ramírez (Spain) and Bianca Lerner (Argentina).
    This year, once again, we are making great strides and are able to introduce great new developments: the long-awaited Sela Bass Cajon offers a sensational bass foundation. The front is played with hands conventionally. The back has been specially designed for the use of a bass drum pedal. The new Sela Primera, with its uncompromisingly good sound at a reasonable price, offers a nice entry into the world of cajon playing. Brand new is also the Sela Mini Cajon Shaker Set, consisting of three mini shakers with three different sounds: soft, medium and hard.

    These are awesome, sound incredible and I was very excited to get my hands on one until I saw the price ;) $1999 ($1000 reused) retail shut me out immediately so I'll just continue to enjoy these videos for now.

      Got one for 500 off amazon. It sounds the same. Best place to start guys. Dont be fooled by price, look at bucket drummers!!! Hand hammered 2000$ pans i'm sure are great but it is NOT needed if you are a beginner!!! Go shop now :D

      @@D.M.Transcendent that is true but I would encourage you guys to think about instruments like this as investments. something like this holds value and, in the event you want or need to sell it, you'll be able to recover most, if not all (or more. sometimes) of your money. You'll also be enjoying a far superior instrument, instead of taking chances with imperfections, poor craftsmanship, etc. plus a better sound with more sustain will result in you connecting with the instrument and wanting to play more. whereas cheaper instruments can often drive players away. and if you get very interested in the instrument, you will want to upgrade later anyway. your amazon handpan will probably lose 20% in value and you'll be behind.
      I'd always rather spend the money for instruments. as a guitarist for 27 years, this lesson I have learned and try to pass on as often as possible. if you CAN afford it, buy once, cry once lol. of course, no need to go straight for a Pro level instrument, but with something like a handpan, I would start at intermediate level from a respected maker.

    • @D.M.Transcendent
      @D.M.Transcendent ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WRandallHead even a " intermediate level from a respected maker" will run over 1,000$ though. My dream pan is over 3k, but without trying my budget pan first, that dream would have never been a thing.
      Yes my pan is out of tune a little here and there. But that has not stopped me from learning and healing. It was in tune almost 2 years ago when i got it, but as I never played one before, and am not a musician, i learned by doing. I knocked it out in places, and I would be sooo upset if I did this to something prices well over a thousand USD. $500 or so, not such a punishing lesson to learn that i was striking to hard sometimes. I also tried to learn some harmonics with this CHEAP pan :P not the best idea lmao.
      Totally agree that you get what you pay for, hence me starting to save for a real deal pan now. I'm sure when I get the chance to lay my hands on a true mastercraft pan, my world will yet again change. But for now, this budget pan of mine has saved my life, both literally and non.
      One day the F# Low Pygmy 17+ notes and or the E Amara 17+ notes, SHALL BE MINE :D

      @badlucklazyguy thank you for watching the video and also for sharing your experience with us. Our Harmony Models are completely handcrafted from high quality stainless steel. That is the reason why these instruments are indeed not the cheapest but also why the sound quality reaps rewards for the price. However you might be interested in our Melody Models, they are a bit cheaper but have still a beautiful sound and can be used by beginners as well as by advanced players. Is it nitrided or coated? Some hand pans have coating in them which mutes the "bloom" resonance.

    • @metta3994
      @metta3994 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tinaschmidtsart Yes! Mine is coated. You wouldn't happen to know what the purpose of coating is?

    • @tinaschmidtsart
      @tinaschmidtsart 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@metta3994 yes, nitrided steel helps protect it from rusting as some are coated. But nitrided steel is a process. Stainless steel will rust if not cared for because all steel has iron and iron oxidizes. Nitrided pans are coated, heat treated in a kiln which tempers out and unifies the stresses of the metal pan after being hammered. The molecules of the steel expand during the kiln process and rearranges in a more uniform structure. It results in less stress on the pan and a more even tempered structure. Nitrided steel may go through several kiln treatments as the pan drum gets hammered thousands of times and is heated treated at different stages of perfecting the drum. Also, the nitrided drum will have a softer sound, not so tinny, (less metallic and echoey sound) and not as much bloom or reverb as stainless steel non-coated pans. It can take a bit more slap without sounding hollow. Stainless steel, by itself, can have a more hollow metallic sound but it all depends on the process, treatment, and coating, firings design, etc., since each pan drum is different and unique as are the individuals who play them.

      @Tina WOW!! I’m in awe at your amazingly well informed explanation, are you a physics major out of curiosity? PS: I’m about to pipe my Hang through a Strymon Big Sky reverb pedal, that should add plenty of new exciting timbres and harmonics 💫 😊

    What I’m wondering about are those note bends he’s doing, any idea how those are performed since the tempered steel doesn’t react at all like a stretched drum head? 🤔 😍
