    As a professional audiovisual professional- tech director, audio engineer, lighting designer, videographer of over 20 years, you explained the use of audio filters better than most people I’ve heard.
    The only thing I would have mentioned is maybe in the purchase stage of speakers for your stages consider the frequency response of each speaker so you can correlate that to where to set your HPF and LPF filer settings.

      Sometimes that’s what you have to do if your setup does not have coverage in a specific frequency bandwidth. For example if you have 15” subs and 6.5” components. It’s going The be tough without good solid 8” midbass to get that 125-150hz punch. As 15’s should not be set to play that high, nor 6.5’s set to play that low.

      @@NextLevelCarAudio, do you have contact information that you’d be willing to share? I have several questions and would love your help. You’re the first person that I’ve seen that understands tuning the right way. I need to set up a bandpass for my system. I’ve been following your setup. I’m doing a very similar setup. I really need help with my tuning. I’m willing to pay you for your time. I’m installing 3 amps. Four DS18 bullet tweeters on a JP84, four D4S Pro Audio 6.5 mids on a JP234 in the doors, and two 12in Sundown Nightshades v5’s on a SALT 8. Box at 32hz. Also, 80ah Lithium, plus XS Super Caps with an 270 hp alternator. Big 4 1/0gauge, Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX dash that has an built in DSP with 3 separate rca outs for bass only, mids only and tweeters only. Setting the frequencies like you did at the end of this video is the help I need. The frequencies to set for each is what I need. I will be using a DD1+ and a CCi combo pack to setup everything. Thanks again for your help and reply if you can.

      I had mine like that for a little bit, but now I have the LPF at 80 and my HPF at 120, to me it sounds clearer. With 80 and 80, it sounded kind of muddy, like the bass from the mids was clashing with the bass of the sub. FYI, I have JL Audio 6.5 C2 with a 10inch H.O. W3.

    My pair of 6x9s recommended HPF is 120hz, and a pair of 6.5 subs with recommended LPF 160hz. So do I just use those settings? Or is it better to set my HPF to 160hz so it picks up where the subs start to roll off?

    Like most of your subscribers, I've been into car audio for well over 20 years, so I've amassed quite a bit of knowledge, although I couldn't identify exactly what I knew. Think of it as a musician that knew what a note sounded like, but couldn't identify what the note was; he just "knew" what it sounded like. That's me, but this certainly helped clarify in simple terms exactly what I was doing with my ears when tuning a sound system, so thanks for explaining what I knew in better terms! LOL!! You rock, man!

    Wow I kind of understand all this now. I have watched tons of videos but yours was the most easily understandable. I do have one question that I cannot find an answer to. Do you recommend using the amps hp/lp or the head unit. It seems easier to use the headunit to make adjustments on the fly but my amp does not have switches it gives the option of 35 to 250 for low pass and 15 to 250 for high pass. If I use the head unit for hp/lp which frequency should I have the amp's knobs turned to? Thanks again... you definitely have a new subscriber!

    Awesome video. Definitely something I needed because I’ve never did anything with car stereo system besides paying a professional installer to install it for me.
    Question: you talk about setting the LPF/ HPF and -6,12, 24db.
    Where would I find the information for LPF/HPF settings, Hz and octave slopes for the speaker frequencies?
    I want to install (2 door & 2 deck) JL audio C1-690tx with JL Audio 300/4v2, and (2) JL Audio 10W3v3-4 with JL Audio 500/1v2. I want to know the Hz, slopes, LPF/ HPF recommendations prior to me buying the equipment.

    • @NextLevelCarAudio
      @NextLevelCarAudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typically it is set based off size of speakers and enclosure not necessarily the specs on actual speakers. For instance subs... 10” you LPF higher say 120hz while 18’s you LPF lower say 80hz.

    Awesome video, so i have 2 8" subs and box tuned to 33hz. Should i have my lpf set to around 80hz or little higher and my subsonic set for like 30hz? Some songs sound like there not even playing bass that loud when i know they have bass and some are way loud at low volume. I never had 8s so dont know if im jus not use to the frequency an 8" plays or my gains on my loc and amp are little off. I know my amp is way to big for the subs and maybe the shop has my amp and loc turned way down or something.

      try to find your subwooofer manufacturers specs. usually they recommended an LPF setting. If they don’t, then the sweet spot for subs is usually 80-100hz. As for subsonic, I’ve read to set them either at your boxes tuned frequency, or 70% of your subs lowest frequency response.

    Great video thank you!
    I have one question I have 3 amplifiers running out of a crossover so do I do this hpf and LPF in the head unit and the Crossovers and the amp? Or only on the amps? Or should I do all three and try to make them all the same?
    Oh and also I would love an example of how you set Yours

      You can, but I like to hard set them at the amp. Head unit can get reset or lose power and will have to start over. Once set on amp, your good

    This is absolutely amazing detailed information, I don’t get it yet but I’m going to keep following you until and hopefully I will finally get it. I’m not working on a Vehicle sound system but am working on my Victory cross country motorcycle and have Pioneer mvh-ms310bt headunit,
    Db drive wdx6moto-g2 400 watt speakers for the fairing ,
    Polk audio 522 speakers for the tour pack
    Massive tx48 amp
    And I just purchased new Polk Audio MM1 692’s the 6x9’s and the lids and grills for the bags that I will be installing.
    I paid an audio guy to get an audio guy to give me setup instructions for the headunit and initial settings for the amp and we set the gains on the amp playing a particular song , we did this over the phone as there are no audio guys here in my town in Canada . I ordered a AUKUYEE TFT Digital Oscilloscope Kit O scope.

    Very informative. My 4 channel amp for my front and rear doors has an hpf,lpf, and Full selection. I'll be running ds18 component set up in front doors and Ds 18 coaxial in back doors. Should I run them the "full" selection since it's a component with a filter on the tweeter? 6x9 coaxial has a filter built in too.

    • @NextLevelCarAudio
      @NextLevelCarAudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can. I personally would set just HPF at say 150hz so they don’t play too low of frequencies

      @@NextLevelCarAudio also I wanted to pick your brain to see if im understanding something correctly. My mids n highs amp is 1000k. It has the option to bridge. Would that be technically sending 500 to the front and 500 to the rear?

    • @NextLevelCarAudio
      @NextLevelCarAudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No that would be sending full power to one set of your channels. If 4 channel then 2. If 2 channel then 1. If running bridged, most amps require a 4 ohm final load. None lower

    Can a person take a 2 way coaxial speaker, and wire up a crossover to control and tune the tweeter, and the woofer to more of a midrange speaker? Like a 6x8 speaker.
    Will a coaxial fill in more of the frequency range you talked about in this video?
    4 6x8 door speakers and a subwoofer thin down fire in a king cab pickup
    I didn't want to mess with my door panels. Installing 2 way or 3 way component speakers.

      If you go to the xs power website, you can type in your vehicle and how much wattage it are running then it will recommend which batteries you should run. That will give you an idea of what to get. Weather you buy from xs power or another brand.

    You mentioned setting subsonic when using a ported enclosure but what if I have a sealed enclosure?
    Just find my box tuning frequency and set it a little lower than that?

    • @NextLevelCarAudio
      @NextLevelCarAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sealed I set sub Sonic at 25hz. Since it’s sealed, it can take it. Plus Anything below that you can’t hear anyway. So no need to go lower

    I've got a pioneer gmd9701 running my subwoofer... Gains set with oscope & multimeter. LPF is a 12db octave, I had it set to 80hz, but sounded boomy so I lowered it to 60hz & sounds alot better. Dous this make sense to run 60hz with a 12db octave slope to take some boomyness out?
    Thanks
