Wow I am surprised by all y’all’s experiences!! I had a hen that was super broody and she would always take any baby I put under her in the middle of the night! We did this for a few years, funny how things work out different 🤔 she was a really good hen though never cared for me one bit 😆 but loved all “her” babies

One of my favorite experiences was at the butterfly exhibit in Gainesville, FL watching all the butterflies come out of their chrysalis’. It was the most fascinating things to see their wings fill with blood and come to life. The had the caterpillar 🐛 windows also where you could watch the whole metamorphosis. I’m 63 and this was only my second time to see chicks hatch. I raised cockatiels for a few years and it’s amazing to see the new life begin.

This is so cool but just wait till Goldie hears about the incubator, that is her job. Betsy for sure is going to have a problem. It was fascinating to see how all of a sudden it broke the shell after creating the cracks, is there anything cuter than baby chicks? Lester's cameo and the cat coming to watch was fun too. That was a great gift from somebody, so glad it worked. Now we get to discover what Gender they actually are, time will tell I guess

Oh my goodness!! This brings it ALL back!! This reminds me of when l was really little & my mother had a dozen fertilized eggs that she had in the Amana oven ( lt was a topside oven) She must of had it on the lowest setting & l remember her excitedly calling me & my sisters to the kitchen & her lifting me up on a chair, then holding me & we all watched those chicks peck out of the eggs 🐥🐤🐣🐣🐤🐥🐤🐥🐣🐤🐥🐣& it was THE MOST EXCITING THING! How wonderful! Watching this brings it all back! Thank you Jamie & Lester! 2 beautiful people putting more goodness & beauty into a very dark world. I love 💖 every minute of it!!

It seems being EGG-static is quite contagious. Such awesomeness. Hank seemed somewhat intrigued, even mildly amused. Me, I seem to be more in the category of mesmerized - along with Jami, Lester, channel fans, etc. That is a group of people with whom I am proud to share such a common trait. The chick with specks immediately made me think of Beauty Marks. Just a thought re names = Beauty or Cutie if female, Mark if a guy .... or Beauty Mark in order to be Gender Neutral, as Lester discussed in a recent video. Jami, both you and Lester are providing such a precious, special learning opportunity for anyone that views these videos. Many people believe chickens somehow 'appear' in grocery stores, prepackaged. They have zero idea how chicks hatch, there's probably quite a few that do not relate eggs to chicks. I am a firm believer we are Never to old to learn. The Morrow family videos (yes, of course I view Jami as a family member in additionto a Life Partner), are awesome teaching tools in addition to being highly entertaining.

I would not advise this unsupervised. I did this once and the broody hen killed all the babies we put in there.
No due to imprinting i lost a duckling it struggled out egg so i watched it a while put it with mum snd she pecked it death
Bad idea. Broody hens will kill chicks they don’t know.

@@NikkiV. I had a bantam hen for 12 years that would take any and all biddies. More hens aren’t like that than are though.

There is a name for spotted chickens. Ask MaryCarl from Cog Family Farm she knows every thing there is about chickens.
