    Great Vid! Just food for thought, I was always taught never to run a spindle warmup without a tool holder in the spindle and never have coolant on without a holder in as well. Those chips find their way into every nook and cranny. Neat machine, I would love to have one in my garage!

      Good point and it's always something that I am careful about. I guess I didn't show it in the video but I clear the spindle bore before use as well. I've never had a chip get in there but that just means "yet" - right? Thanks for watching. - TZ

      Oh, interesting point here is that Hurco will not allow you to run the warmup with a tool in holder. I double checked the manual as well to make sure my recollection was correct.

      Chips are not going to get into the spindle on the warmup cycle, they don’t just magically fly up when no air, or coolant is blowing, and they have air blast for the spindle taper before every tool change, Iv ran hurcos for a long time, maybe twice have I ever found a chip stuck in the spindle

      I think the main difference between the 1 and the 10 is the Z travels. Mine was pretty decked out with options too. It’s a great machine!

    Awesome tutorial. Another handy thing is that when the input box is highlighted it will work as a calculator so if you click on your Z work offset, type the amount you want to remove, press (-) then enter it'll take it away from the number saved for you. or if you put in the preset what you want to take off the top it will adjust the Z for you. I have a VMX42 with a Kitagawa twin rotary on and its fantastic. I program tons on and off the control and even for 4x programming the control is amazing 4+1 position too is effortless on the control too. It looked like you have to tool library? I didn't have that on my old one and now I do I wouldn't go back. I organise it by using 1 at the start of all my endmills, 2 for drills, 3 for spot drills, 6 for chamfer drills 8 for taps etc. then the size eg, 1123 (12mm Endmill for Stainless) the forth number 1 for Ali, 2 for Steel, 3 for Stainless 4 for Plastics. Makes set ups really efficient. P.s. I was looking at a VM10 the other day but I have no space.

    Great video, wish there were more on Hurco machines, tons of stuff on youtube especially Haas, but finding videos like this one is rare. Im thinking of getting either one but hard to purchase one with so little info on it, there are many people who love them but Id hate end up struggling when it comes to questions and know how.

      Thanks! It's a really good machine and I wouldn't let the lack of promoted videos scare you off. Their customer network, distributors, and direct support channels are all really helpful. My local distributor even had me on site for training classes prior to even getting the machine.

    Tom, great video. I just received my new VMOne last week. I’m curious about your fixture plate here. Did you make that yourself? Do you have information or a template?

    • @TomZelickman
      @TomZelickman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a standard plate from Saunders Machine Works. Since the table is the same on the VM1 and VM10 I think this would just bolt right up.

    Hi Tom, I am looking at buying a Hurco for my shop. I got some information as to cost breakdown. I noticed they had a lot of options for the controller and software and probing. Any advice on what comes standard and what you opted for as to these options would be helpful for me.
    Thanks

    • @TomZelickman
      @TomZelickman  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to give a good answer here because it all depends on what you are doing and how. Meaning, are you going to use something like Fusion 360 to do your programming or do it all via the conversational interface at the control? What kind of parts are you making? Are you importing DXF or STL files directly into the control? My particular machine was a demo one that had what I wanted built in already but the basics for me were NC Merge, DXF Import, probing / tool setting, and adaptipath for the odd times that I programmed right from the console. A good apps guy should be able to talk to you about your needs and recommend the right options without adding a bunch of stuff you won't use. I hope this helps!
