As a teacher in London, I'm doing everything I can to get other teachers to realise, accept and utilise the power of true knowledge and hiphop's search for the truth. Marginalised peoples need this, and (unfortunately) a lot of kids are exactly that: marginalised.
Not the government just the entire black diaspora on every continent this is the new message to the Blackman🙏🏿✊🏿 Yhink if us in America,Afro Latino’s,the black Europeans,Caribbean,All the islands, and Africa link up on the same page! Trade with each other form a Union and create our own industry! Everything we spend money on we make! We own the gestations stores hotels manufacturers cars and everything else!
truly amazing stuff. this actually made me cry. Akala is really setting the good example for the kids out there .I wish they could bring these kinds of culture/rap sessions in the school system and make it compulsory for students to attend before going home. We need more of this.
Rahul Kemp He has a point dude. Teachers should. We spend our whole childhood learning about shit! When we leave school, we actually learn more wether we're studying or not. We should be learning real history. Not just of our own countries but of everyones. Accepting others is the biggest problem we have on earth. If we learn that we're all the same then there wouldn't be any racism
+Rahul Kemp of course they should. hes rapping criticising his teachers and educating young people. im 14 and from hip hop and akala i've learned about materialism, blood diamonds, consumerism, homophobia, racism, terrorism and loads more that i cant think of off the top of my head. schools teach us important subjects like maths and english and maybe some humanity subjects like geography and history but apart from that the rest is bullshit. why do we need to learn languages or learn music where we do meaningless pop songs or why do we learn art? art is from the soul not taught in schools. school is good but a lot of it is just obeying rules and teaching things because the government says the have to not because it will stay in the childrens brain or benefit them in life. i appreciate school but to be successful you need to educate yourself. and thats what people like akala do. connect to the youth in a way schools don't. I have a plan to grow up and be a rapper and ill achieve that through making my content and sharing it throughout my school and on social media and selling mixtapes in my local area to get money and grow bigger and better until i've got enough money to afford a decent home studio set up to make music and go on britains got talent and win it and then get a record deal and enjoy the success. of course its not that simple but i have a plan for my life unlike others my age. The reason: my education through hip hop. 'is hip hop just a euphanism for a new religion? the soul music of the slaves that the youth is missing' - Kanye West
'ahh but shit my heads still nappy' he's taking the mick out of pop stars and celebrities who have no intellect or opinion about real issues yet it is their opinions that are readily publicised to the youth by the media. what an intelligent bloke big up akala
Highest respect for Akala for this. Bit of a shame most of the kids are witnessing it behind the screens of their phones though, why sit and watch through a small screen when you have someone this inspiring performing right in front of you? You can never feel the same energy while watching something like this through a phone...
True inspiration to the kids... Too many youngsters thinking its cool to be thick. Knowledge is power!!!! Read Read Read Read don't let them say what you can achieve.
Same, I'm 16 and I rap too, couldn't care less about phones and shit, actually working on my E.P (which will have a government track) and having Rap battles all over the U.K. "Don't tell me that it's too hard" - Akala - True words.
You're point about TV is a very good paradigm for this society transition we need. Your able to naturally control you're child's environment-and as they get older they will have a certain set of beliefs and understanding about TV and whats good for them. Alot of kids dont and therefore 'the correct stimuli or environment' may not quite fit so easily. I mean for example-I was addicted to comp games up until a year b4 my GCSE's and school didnt really stand a chance-its going to be difficult!
Keep up the good work bro I run an anti_bullying group called Anti_bullying Lee's Defence all about the youth and converting people to more positive way's of living ;) TOPMAN Akala respect's from the Ironman.
These kids these days have no interest in revision or hitting the books but would rather listen to music and the media...Akala is using music to get through to this youth. Look at them, they're getting excited and enjoying it without Akala saying Girls/boys,Money, cars, being rich, partying etc. He's an amazing rapper man big respect!
think the thing is if you ask quite a lot of teachers actually want their classes to learn, it's the curriculums and testing systems put in place mixed in with the deadlines etc that seem to be the main problem tbh plus the fact many teachers are unable to admit that they're still in the process of learning themselves
Rap has so much crossover with poetry & while you would have to pick the right lyrics for schools to accept the idea. You could teach the writing techniques in classrooms
6:46 dirty look from the teacher! haha but this is amazing, I wish he could go all over the country to loads of schools spreading this message... give the youth a shot!
Yeah true that, i was waiting for someone to say it. But then again i don't think the rest of the kids filming were filming to put it on youtube or whatever, still a shame
That's amazing! Ye entrepeneurs is where its at. Tbf the 1 thing I wished my parents had not MADE me do, but TOLD me, was to start thinking about business ideas from as young age as possible. As a 21 yr old student just about to finish his degree and who has only just started thinking of ideas in the last 2 years-I wish I had thought about it earlier-But again society does tell you to get papers rather than build you're own wealth (which is in fact what TRUE capitalism is not corporatism :p)
wow okay i don't like much british rap, ( i am a british rapper btw) but damn this guy is smart, he knows what's going on and he's using his poetry to get through to these kids i rate him.
I agree with alot of the video-the question is really how can we put it into the existing system without creating issues. With the children hiring and firing teachers-Have you seen some of the innercity london schools in tottenham, edmonton e.t.c-the classes are unbelieveably disruptive, teachers getting hit e.t.c.. Those kids arent at a level to be making those sorts of decisions. Had they been taught properly from a young age in a diff system-maybe they would be. But it's about that transition
Need more of this in schools!
one of the realist rappers in the world.
3 years later and this still fires me up!
Fr
I love how he slows it down in this version to get his message across
Some of them were listening to the words, some of them were only concerned with the flow...those are the ones I tilt my head down to.

The Govt needs to hire Akala and give him creative freedom to school the youth.

Lucky, lucky kids. I wish someone had open my lid at that age. Big respect to the guy! Knowledge is power.

'ahh but shit my heads still nappy' he's taking the mick out of pop stars and celebrities who have no intellect or opinion about real issues yet it is their opinions that are readily publicised to the youth by the media. what an intelligent bloke big up akala
He's an inspiration. He's telling the youth to learn to make it big, instead of judging people and fucking with drugs or harming others for amusement.

I wish Akala had been my teacher when I was at school.

Just a different message, and different messenger.
