A comment from cold Russia. Sony is the only one that always works in freezing temperatures. All other cameras become extremely cranky when rain turns to snow. Once the camera cools down, you risk not turning it on at all. That's why you need to keep the other cameras warm and if you start recording - do not pause. If you pause recording, the camera cools down and may not turn on again today. Besides in cold weather the buttons of other cameras (gopro is particularly guilty of this) malfunction in cold weather. You don't know for sure if the camera is recording now or not, if it's not Sony. If you press the record button on Sony, the clip will be recorded. Sony is the only one capable of recording a power bank video for hours on end. At the same time the charging process goes on and it does not overheat to critical temperatures. This camera was made by engineers. That's why it was discontinued. It will work for 10 years in a row. Business wants us to change cameras as often as we change phones. The younger camera in the review doesn't even have dust protection. It'll just get clogged with debris in a couple of years and burn out. It's not an action camera at all.
Thank you for your detailed comments!!😄 I've never heard of such a review about Sony's action cam. This is a very valuable comment. I think the stability of Sony's cameras is very good. The fact that there are few firmware updates shows that. I have the impression that GoPro is finally stable after repeated firmware upgrades ...🤭
@@BikeFunJapan 10 is definitely better than 9. But of all the review cameras the most unstable in winter conditions is the gopro. And not in polar conditions, but in normal winter. You have to wear this camera under your clothes to shoot your downhill skiing or snowboarding. If you attach it outside, it gets cold and may just not turn on. I think this is due to the fact that the Russian market is not interesting for gopro. They have no official representative office in our country. The camera was designed for summer activity. The stabilization is fantastic, but the sound comes out of the water. We can conclude that the purpose of these cameras is different. The Gopro is designed to get the best picture on the move and in daylight hours. The sound is secondary here. Sony has worse stabilization, but higher dynamic range and no dependence on external conditions + excellent sound. Sony is designed to create clips together with sound. This is closer to reportage tasks or blogging. This is also indicated by its ability to give a better picture in low light conditions. And this is not only at night, but also in any room. One of the best comparison videos out there. I would have really like to see a battery comparison and a photo quality. Oher than that. Really good, thanks
Thank you for your comment!!😊 I am guessing, it's difficult to compare batteries because the deterioration of the batteries affects them. I always forget to compare photos ...😅
I agree, with others, I love my sony FDR-X3000, and why I'm watching this video is because I'm considering an update but, to be honest, I think I'll just keep using it until it doesn't work anymore, which I think will be a long time waiting because it's ultra-reliable.
i got an insta 360 one r thought can retire my sony fdr but i was kinda of disappoint with the quality and the editing is so chaos need to use insta 360 software to edit
@@kuaqimai I bought the insta360 One R 1-inch Edition before, but that wasn't what I expected. At that time, I felt it was a egoistic manufacturer (negative side). So I'm not going to buy an insta360 camera for a while😓
If you were to start vlogging your travels today in 2023 which one of these would you go with? Or would the DJI Pocket 2 be better than all of these options? Wish we knew more about the pocket 3 by now...
If you can only take one small camera on your trip, I recommend the Dji Pocket2. GoPro and Dij Action are good cameras, of course, but they are pan-focus (no focus adjustment), so you can't take close-up shots. However, when traveling, you will often want to take close-up shots of food and food menus. If you shoot with a smartphone when shooting close-ups, I think Gopro or DjiAction would be fine. By the way, in my case, if I have room in my luggage, I will bring a lot of cameras such as GoPro, Dji Pocket, Sony FX3 😅
Thank you so much for the video! I am so torn between the X3000 and the DJI Action2. That night time footage looks so much better on the Sony, as well as the stabilization looking weird on the DJI at night time. I have heard a lot of people say the Sony lens has issues and often breaks. The price is only slightly more for the DJI considering the age of the Sony unit. Wondering also if the DJI is able to film in 1080p or 1440p for a similar length of time as the sony before overheat (didn't look much worse in your heat tests).
Thank you for your comment☺️ As you know, Sony has a little problem with the resolution because of the lens problem. If you want a precise 4K resolution, you may want to avoid Sony. Also, Sony's products are already no longer in production, so it may be difficult to obtain them ...🤔
Wow the old Sony x3000 may have the worst stabilization but the better image due to the processing not trying to do so much. Sony give us a new action cam🥴
Thanks!!! Great job for comparison the latest action cameras vs FDR-X3000.. Although GoPro 10 is almost the best in the video.. in terms of user friendly .. FDR-X3000 is the best!
GoPro is well made, but I feel that there are some problems (sometimes it freezes, sometimes it doesn't charge well). On the contrary, the X3000 is stable, so I think it's really user-friendly😊
Latest stuff,Action 2 and Gopro are the best but even "older" Osmo Action is still doing great job.Sony is bit unsharp, suffer from direct sun light but still pretty good camera.Shame that they don't like to upgrade any action camera they launched. They think just how to make better SLR's !
I think so, too. Why did Sony withdraw from the action camera market ...😢 What I expect from Sony in the future is to develop the best sensor for action cameras (small sensor)🧐
I own the Sony X3000 and the Dji Action 2 and the X3000 still stands it's ground, but in good light conditions, the action 2 shoots much sharper video and the contrast is better in all light conditions. The Action 2 looks like you shot in HDR. And the sound.. The X3000 has excelent bright sound and the Action 2 sounds like you got a lavalier mic on.
I think so, too🤔 Both have very wide-angle lenses (the Action2 is wider) and both have a bit more lens flare than another action cameras. I think X3000 has the best mic sensitivity in action cameras. However, the window noise is also the maximum😅
I can't decide between Action 2 or Hero 10 for my vlog and travel video. My requirement is 4K (24/25/30fps) and better low light. Overheating problem is ok for me as I will shoot 5 minutes top. Which one would you recommend for me? Thanks for helping and really appreciate it.
If I had to choose between Action2 and HERO10, I would choose HERO10🤔 The reason is that Action2 has two big complaints. First, if you start shooting immediately after starting up, it will not record to the SD card inserted in the battery module (wait a few seconds and you should be fine). Too lazy to pay attention here. Second, the dark place performance is worse than the original 1st Osmo Action. Despite the slightly larger sensor size on the Action2... I don't know why...😅 On the other hand, the HERO10's resolution drops significantly at night thanks to noise reduction, but overall I think it's a well-balanced camera.
@@BikeFunJapan Yeah I also wondered why A2 low light is worst even though it features a bigger sensor than GP10. Thanks for your suggestion and input, will choose GP10 then.
What a great comparison video!!! Thank you very much! It looks like the DJI and GoPro add a little more sharpness in their standard profile compared to the Sony
@@BikeFunJapan Do you know if it really is a weakness? I assumed it is just an internal camera setting of how the video is composed (like color, saturation, exposure etc.). Sharpness could be increased in post production in a video editor if one wants to. But I haven't tried it yet. I just recently realised the difference in sharpness in another video. But after watching your comparison I still cannot see a reason to buy another camera. I still prefer the Sony 😊
I think Sony's low sharpness is difficult to solve completely even in the post process🤔 Sony has an optical image stabilizer, but due to that effect, blurring (low sharpness) may occur in some parts of the screen. When the X3000 was first released, some people pointed out on TH-cam that there was "one-side blur". However, I think that there is no problem in normal use. Please check out this video to check more about sharpness☺️ th-cam.com/video/Sm9qjoHrx0s/w-d-xo.html
It's an interesting topic 🙂 I just had the idea to watch a comparison between the Sony a7s iii and the GoPro. It looks similar to the fdr x3000. Definitively not as sharp as the GoPro. fdr x3000 8.6 MP sensor, a7s iii 12.1 MP sensor and GoPro 23.5 MP sensor. So, if there is no motion in a video, a sensor with more pixels should have more detail when zooming in? On the other hand, if there is motion in a video, I guess it is a topic of the correct/natural/desired/preferred amount of motion blurr (ratio of fps to shutter speed). In adjusting motion blurr (and fps) one can move from cinematic to real and to hyper-real footage. From the comparison footage I recently saw, Sony to me looks 'real', GoPro more towards hyper-real with the high level of sharpness and less amount of motion blurr. (In Standard settings. All settings can be adjusted in the GoPro to even create a cinematic look. If one knows how to do it 😉)
If oversampling is possible, I think the resolution is good. I think so, too. I saw a video comparing 4K video of A7S3 and 4K video of A74 (7K oversampling) on TH-cam↓. There is certainly a difference🧐 th-cam.com/video/EfZ4Re48mW0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for your comment!😊 Occasionally there is still a bug that does not charge properly😅 (Sometimes the power keeps turning on when you start charging)
Action2 is a DJI product, so it's stable with no bugs☺️ However, due to structural reasons, if you start shooting immediately after turning on the power, it may be recorded in the internal storage instead of being recorded in the memory card inserted in the power module. Therefore, it is necessary to confirm that the memory card is recognized before shooting. I haven't used Action2 now because it has other weaknesses, and I use Dji Pocket2 or GoPro HERO10 for the small camera ... 😅

hero10 looks much brighter in night than dji. Hero should work for night recording, this auto mode is to bight, but wierd that iso 6400 looks 3 ev brighter than dji in total dark. I love my x3000 but now is good only for low light.
