I liked the Homes better too.Yoy might want to change out those EH tubes for some Svetlana winged C's or NOS Tesla's.I did on my Marshall, and I couldn't belive the difference.I then bought 3 ANOS Mulards off of ebay,and now the amp sounds incredible.thanks for sharing these pickup demo's.
Great LesPaul sound,bro spanking! I got S.D.Pearly Gates/bridge/J.B Neck,changing pups from burstbucker pros was good decision for me! Thanx for video!
U chose a good selection of pu's to compare, I had the 36th's and thought they were..good. I just got the Mules in a $340 Dean 79 RI,and I must admit, the difference between the stock Dean Asian made,DMT pickups and the $380 Bareknuckles was pretty obvious, night and day. The stock pickups were dark in the sense that they had no higher frequencies to all,like the tone knob had been turned down. The Mules brought the guitar to life, gave it brightness,and a little bit of Les Paul meets Flying V tone, where the guitar before the pu swap didn't sound Gibson-ish to me at all. I definitely was a good set,but I do kind of regret spending $380 and tax when I know some Diamarzio Super Dist for $79 each would have sounded fine, and I could have another $200 left in my pocket afterwards. hard to say how much different they would have sounded, or how much difference I would hear.. But in a few weeks I'll forget about how much they cost and I'll just love the guitar, so in the long run it was a worthy cause, but definitely a luxury,not something you need
Awesome playing, tone, Beautiful guitar. I like this tone alittle more than the 36ths Ann in your last video. Both were badass though. Great job, Especially with that , just got paid today Riff.
If those replaced the stock ones it was worth it. They sound fantastic, I really appreciated them more as the playing went on. I have Burstbucker 1 and 2 in my Epi Annv V1and like them but if I had the stock Epi's (Oh yeah, Wilshire) those are great sounding pickups. Of course we all know or are that person who was crazya.. talented to begin with, you found they were always on that elusive quest for tone.
Thanks for demoing all the different pickups. I have Shaws in my LP, I own Mules but haven't put them in yet, and I'm on the wait list for the Tom Holmes. Really interested in your "in person" take on those 3. What did you perceive as the differences between those? Thanks in advance!!
A great thing you can do is fitting a treble bleed (a cap and a resitor in parallel) on each volume pot if you want avoid to loose treble when rolling down the guitar vol. It always helps a lot using any pickups. I've difficulties to understand why Kloppman's don't sound good with your guitar though. Did you try every settings you could imagine ?
@jojogun1957 thank you for the information! Very intressting! Since the time I changed the stock tubes the amp seems to have lost its soul! Maybe I have to do like you adviced! Yess the Holmes set is absolutly killing! I love his pickups!
@GrandZeppelinBand I'm considering using the Bare Knuckle Mule in the neck and the DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF in the bridge. I like the tone of an Alnico IV magnet pickup in the neck, and I like to have a slightly hotter PAF in the bridge. I really want to have a Riff Raff in the bridge, but I don't know where to order one. But could you possibly demo the Mule and the Dimarzio 36yh Anniv. together?
Hello, what a great sound you have here....awesome demo ! I look for a great humbucker set, warm in the bass and not harsh in the treble, . I had experience with BP brown sugar on my Telecaster and it was awesome ! Are the Mule the best humbucker you ever had ? Can you describe it to me please ? Bass response, mids and treble sound over all , please ? It would be so gentle ! I play clean , bluesy and classic rock into a Deluxe reverb Fender amp...Thanks for your answer and help, kind regards from France
@anonymityrocks Thank you for watching:-) I felt that the Holmes Set did best for me and my setup. I have played old 59 s a couple of times and think that holmes nails it... On the other hand, I tried the latest Gibson Custombuckers! Shit they are really good in those new Customshop guitars!
Nice classic rock and blues tones. Do you think these pickups will sound good in an R7 for classic rock and hard rock as well with higher gain Marshall amps or do you suggest maybe the Abraxas?
@Kitarist88 Tubes are not original anymore. I had to change them and put Electro Harmonix tubes in and got it biased by a friend. I use a Marshall JCM900 cab with stock speakers.
What do you like in your honest opinion? The BKP's or the Dimarzio's? I love PAF style pickup's. I play heavy rock and metal and I can't find a better tone anywhere. The BKP are pricey. I play SD Alnic II's and SD 59's and Jazz pickups. Do you know any domestic pickup makers that sound good? Thanks!
@DarkJinx257 much more trebly then most les paul solid bodies,but still thick or fat sounding,please tell me amp settings ect....much more dynamic then typical less pauls without the shrill fender sounds, please tell me more about our setup
@jp6l6 I want my guitar to sound good in every setting. I don't want to boost frequencies on my amp, just to be happy with any pickup. I want a set that lets the guitars true voice come through. The kloppmanns cut that sound, therefore I use them in a different guitar..
Unlike one of the commenters, Kaiser whatever, I don't wind pickups and don't consider myself to be the voice of God. I have a pair of these pickups and have compared them in the same guitar to Classic 57's, the D'Allen PAF's, Fralin PAF's, Wolfetone Legends and Seth Lovers. They're all different. My personal favorites in that guitar are the Legends and the Mules. Your guitar, your tastes, your playing style, etc., etc. may differ. For that matter real PAF's differ more than some of these. I care about sound, not about copying a moving target and especially not about someone else's very arrogant opinion. Good playing, everyone. Oh, my late little brother could play with any pickups and make me sound like crap.
Seriously. 170£ for a set of two. You believe it's expensive ? You probably saw wayyyyy to much chinese pickups out there and lost sense of the real price of things. But labour and good materials have a cost. For me, the Seymour Duncan and other Dimarzio stuff are overexpensive. But because I know it will cost them between 4 and 8$ pro pickup to made.
I agree. Burstbuckers etc are almost the same price. Actually the price of a set of Mules is 225GBP, but considering what you get I think they are worth it. Pearly gates for example cost 190GBP.
nice guitar no doubt.. i think it would sound bette if it was in tune though.. also instead of using lose slinky strings some nice 10 guage xl D'addario's on them .. the sound would be better all around.. a beautiful guitar like that should sound sold when the strings are attacked. just my opinion..
A handmade LP, a JCM800, Bareknuckles....and a monster cable. Hahahaha. Come on, man! Complete the chain and plug that thing in with an evidence audio or somethin'. Sounds great as is though!
@alexlikelive Hello Alex! I had also some T Tops from ´73. But I didn´t really hear the guitar in my band. Those pu´s di´dn´t come through. I sold them. I tried a lot of PAF reissue pickups but the Tom Holmes set is the best solution in this particular Les Paul for me, together with my amp. I also had very Jimmy Page like sounds with my R6. That guitar has Kloppmann ´59s built in (take a listen to my other videos). Those Pickups sound in this guitar like crap. so.....?!?! I don´t really know.
I would be willing to bet, most if sayin BKPs are not that good or worth the $ have not installed them in their own guitar to give a RL perspective. the signal starts from the feel of the guitar and the touch of the guitarist, the pickup's characteristic then the amp amplifies that and adds color. I have found BKPs to be one of the best in note separation and clarity clean or grinding. If you have loaded them up and still don't like, well that's fine too...Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one
@randomtwit I know, I know! I tried very hard to get 59 sounds out of industrial built guitars. No chance man! This is the closest I can get without spending 500000 Dollars!
Great guitar man. Don't listen to people slagging it off. If it feels great to you and you can connect with it then that thing is worth every penny!
Yep;-)
Sounds great. Looking at a Knaggs Kenai that has the mules in it vs one that has Duncan Candy set
Killer tone! Very nice! Les Paul, Marshall and low output PAF style pickups...still one of the best tone combinations of all time.
A very sweet sounding AXE and nice riff techniques
That is a gorgeous guitar. You've sold me on the tone too! Mule PuPs for my Black Beauty now :D
Oh man never swap those humbuckers sounds really good pure tone :)
You've got the guitar and the sound
Now go forth and conquer
Thanks for the reply, I figured about the Holmes. I just bought a used set! Thanks again your vids were very helpful!
I liked the Homes better too.Yoy might want to change out those EH tubes for some Svetlana winged C's or NOS Tesla's.I did on my Marshall, and I couldn't belive the difference.I then bought 3 ANOS Mulards off of ebay,and now the amp sounds incredible.thanks for sharing these pickup demo's.
good looking guitar, great sound. thought james gang was coming for a second there at 4:00...:)
Great LesPaul sound,bro spanking! I got S.D.Pearly Gates/bridge/J.B Neck,changing pups from burstbucker pros was good decision for me! Thanx for video!
Nice! I am seriously thinking about getting some of these for my Les Paul now...
I'm gonna get these for my Les Paul Studio!
Subscribed just from 10 seconds of this video alone. 🤘
U chose a good selection of pu's to compare, I had the 36th's and thought they were..good.

different guitar but how would you compare the D.36ths to the Mules?
Awesome playing, tone,
Beautiful guitar. I like this tone alittle more than the 36ths Ann in your last video.
Both were badass though. Great job,
Especially with that , just got paid today
Riff.
That is some awesome tone!!
@bladerunner12 Thxxxx man! I ll put them back in.... I have to try them again..
that's an awesome guitar, at 0:44 she sounds really led zepish, merry christmas
Nice playing! Love it!
Great playing! Fantastic sound! Really good demo!
Thank you;/)
Kickass setup...
@webusecom
Thank you very much! I love this piece of art!
Best wishes to you and your family!
Wow
Amazing tone!
I agree that this LP is worth more than any CS Historic Gibson LP.
This is a one off historic repro copy
But a sick one at that
Hey ! Thank you very much! Was lot of work at that time to get proper parts!:-)
@DarkJinks257 yepp, it is! Love it!
If those replaced the stock ones it was worth it. They sound fantastic, I really appreciated them more as the playing went on. I isolated the same note in two videos. The DiMarzio and Bareknuckles sound very similar to me.
Sounds incredible. I loved every minute. Are both your pickups the Bare Knuckle Mule?
Very cool video! Excellent guitarist! Thanks a lot!
;-))
Thanks for demoing all the different pickups. I have Shaws in my LP, I own Mules but haven't put them in yet, and I'm on the wait list for the Tom Holmes. Really interested in your "in person" take on those 3. What did you perceive as the differences between those? Thanks in advance!!
Great tone i like
That's like the perfect Les Paul!
@The1970sInfatuate you can buy Bare Knuckle pickups online. They ve got an onlineshop!
@HandRpuffin Yes the Holmes set is H450, and H455
Same build quality as their Colelctors Choice? they're friggin' insane. Wish I had the money :P
@GoDrex yes! Sir! Good Pickups!
Love the tone! And the playing is fantastic!
@jojogun1957 thank you for the information! Very intressting! Since the time I changed the stock tubes the amp seems to have lost its soul! Maybe I have to do like you adviced! Yess the Holmes set is absolutly killing! I love his pickups!

the neck pickup sounds great, but I like the Holmes bridge in your other demo more than this one.
Nice classic rock and blues tones. Do you think these pickups will sound good in an R7 for classic rock and hard rock as well with higher gain Marshall amps or do you suggest maybe the Abraxas?
Yeah!! Gary on the way!!
Man that sucker has a nice sound
Out of the various pickups in your videos...which set are your favorites.
@MrOBujor Sounds intressting! But for my oppinion the Knuckles feel better...
@alexlikelive you have to try out what´s best for your own Les Paul. But I don´t think that you will have a satisfying solution with T Tops....
@The1970sInfatuate
yess sir!
Hi! What amp are you playing?
Has anyone tried the Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special pickups?
@dalesuhr A friend of mine built it for me. He listened to everything I wanted to have and made every detail to very specs of a 59 burst.
@sunmoonfire67
I used 10 gauge strings....
Thank you
I tried alnico IV magnets in some pickups and they didn't suit me, but they sound nice here.
@MadMaxork Tom Holmes, Bare Knuckle, DiMarzio, Tim Shaw,... But only in this particular Guitar!
@Kitarist88
Tubes are not original anymore. I had to change them and put Electro Harmonix tubes in and got it biased by a friend. I use a Marshall JCM900 cab with stock speakers.

@theshyguitarrist
I use the Holmes set!
Do you have rating for each PAF designed set? Like Holmes #2 or whatever.
Alnico 4 magnets. So cool.
@glassbottleblues thank you :-)
The PAF's are wired for a 500K or 250K pot?
Unlike one of the commenters, Kaiser whatever, I don't wind pickups and don't consider myself to be the voice of God. Hi is the best humbucker for Blues on a LP ? i play Blues,and clessic rock too, but no metal ? is it the best 59' copy humbucker on the market ?
@thelolguy007 thank you bro!
How right you are!
Frank Zappa said: Shut up, and play your guitar! ;-)
Can you list them in order of your preference? Thanks.
The pickups are long or short scales?
Have you tried the stormy mondays? if so which did you prefer and why?
What kind of speakers and tubes?
Thanks!!!
The Mules sound thinner and sometimes a tad shrill compared to the Dimarzio
have you compared these pickups side by side with the prs 57/08?
@gus rizos Practice Kate Perry as much as you did? Sir?
ok the video is not pro etc but fuck that is a sweet looking and potentially awesome sounding axe from what i can make out. congrats. nice
Whats the name of the song you jam just after dropping?
love the sound of barekuckles, but they are so damn expensive and take a long time to ship. I Refuse to play actives though
Seriously. 170£ for a set of two. You believe it's expensive ?

GJ!
very noice!
What´s the riff around 2.35?
@azharkamal
Thanx! Next time when I 'll change pickups! ;-)
You ll need 500!
@alfredomunozavila But i did! ;-) The Hiolmes Set did best for the sound of our Band...
get stephens design pickups, they are actually the best..
A handmade LP, a JCM800, Bareknuckles....and a monster cable. Hahahaha. Come on, man! Complete the chain and plug that thing in with an evidence audio or somethin'. Sounds great as is though!
@murfdog19
Nobody said it cost 10.000,- Sir!
It was worth every Dollar.... For me....
Just got paid - ZZ Top
@alexlikelive Hello Alex! I had also some T Tops from ´73. But I didn´t really hear the guitar in my band. Those pu´s di´dn´t come through. I sold them. Reading your description, you still didn't answer how much it costs.. Quoting you "to answer once and for all" - then no answer.
I would be willing to bet, most if sayin BKPs are not that good or worth the $ have not installed them in their own guitar to give a RL perspective. the signal starts from the feel of the guitar and the touch of the guitarist, the pickup's characteristic then the amp amplifies that and adds color. Those sound muddy compared to the Dimarzios.
Almost as good as my LP Std with BB1 & 2 set
@rene495 yess sir! Vitamin q's
@MadMaxork
