- Welcome to our Frieren: Beyond Journey's End reaction!
After defeating the Demon Lord, Himmel the Hero, priest Heiter, dwarf warrior Eisen, and elf mage Frieren return to the royal capital. After their procession, they view a meteor shower and discuss their future plans. Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen are ready to retire from adventuring after their ten-year quest. Frieren, whose lifespan is much longer, considers the ten years to be trivially short and plans to travel and learn new spells. To her colleagues' amusement, she promises to show them a better site to observe the meteor shower at its next occurrence in 50 years. Frieren keeps her word and returns 50 years later to find that Himmel and Heiter have become elderly, and Eisen is middle-aged. The week-long journey to Frieren's viewing site reminds the party of their past adventures. Himmel the Hero dies of old age shortly after the expedition. At his funeral, Frieren tearfully realizes she did not adequately get to know him and decides to learn as much about humans as possible. 20 years later, she visits Heiter to find that he has adopted a war orphan, nine year old Fern. Heiter, suffering from death anxiety in his advanced age, asks Frieren to research life-extending magic and tutor Fern in magic in her spare time. She agrees after seeing Fern is already remarkably skilled despite her youth.
Welcome to Denver Senpai Channel! A little side note, we gave a chance to DUB version for first 2 episodes, and decided to switch to SUB starting episode 3, just little heads up on that, thank you for watching!
Personally I'm saddened to hear you didn't keep the dub going, but ultimately it's your decision at the end of the day! Hope you enjoy the show, no matter what!
I think I like sub more.. the sub feels more connected and real
Oh, good. You switched to sub. I love the sub, the Japanese VA feels more impactful.
Kinda sad you missed Frieren, Heiter, and Himmel's amazing VA on these emotional episodes. Don't want to be rude to the dub, since it's probably one of the best I've heard recently, but they didn't convey emotion as much as the Japanese ones in my opinion. Still gonna tag along for the journey, with this and Vinland Saga mostly. Hope you love them both!
@@Ichigoku15 Dub is garbage. Happy they changed, would be unwatchable in dub.
Man, it's my first time watching the dub for this show. The way the VAs delivered Frieren's lines during her crying was Night and Day. Also, I've watched dozens of reactions for this episode and each and everyone at least made me teary or even straight up crying. It's my first time not feeling anything during the scene and it's a bummer that this is how you experienced Episode 1 and 2.
I hope you enjoy this anime, it is great! The first episode of this anime was originally planned to be released as a 90 minute movie but was instead changed into 4 episodes released on the same day. To get the full sense of the anime you should watch the first 4 episodes before deciding if you want to continue. That being said I believe you will like it enough to continue the series.
First time I watched an anime dub on a reaction.
Also the last time.
Truly emotionless for such a deep and emotional story.
For us it is also the first time watching a modern anime in Dub, we think it is not as bad as a lot of people say though, but still, eventually we liked Sub more as well
Oh no it's dub 😂 it's OK but sub is so much better imo, no need to be super negative in the comments
it's a long time tradition of this channel to have a fight between SUB and DUB supporters in the comments :)
@@DenverSenpaisub>dub
The English VAs don’t do this show justice…
Sadly I won’t be following your reactions
Yes, I also don't really like the dub, because the feel isn't there, but I watched the latest video and they finally used the original Japanese sub, a very, very good choice for you, I will sub you hehe
I sympathize with those who prefer dubbed but unfortunately this series' dub has issues with weird tones in the EN voices and often uses odd wordy translations different from the subbed version.
05:40
Original Japanese: "Atama nadenna" (Casual way of saying 'Don't pat my head')
Subbed Frieren: "Don't pat my head."
Dubbed Frieren: "Thus, my head's still not for patting."
OMG IMMEDIATE SUBSCRIBE! Thank you so much I've spent the last hour of my life looking for someone reacting to the dub. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Hope you are enjoying the series.
We switched to Sub eventually, sorry if you hoped for dub episodes for the whole series :)
I'm going to save 14 minutes of my life because its dub
Great reaction but we need SUB😢
I'm going to speak up in defense of the dub: the localization is much better than the subtitles, using more natural and idiomatic English phrases rather than literal translations of the Japanese dialogue. I still prefer the Japanese voices, but the English ones are good as well.
I’ve watched both dubbed and subbed multiple times and they’re both great.
When you using dub, I immediatly read the comment. In our country there is youtube channel called Muse Asia and Muse Indonesia, surprisingly they dub Frieren with Indonesian language, surprisingly again our people's love the dub😁
This is the sad fact about anime community, you will be wreck if you using beside Japanese
It's not sad. It's because most of the time the Japanese voice actors are better. They are some anime the English voice actors are just as good but unfortunately not this one.
this show is so good!
I think the emotion changes a bit with dub.. If u try watch offline some parts you will understand. But its ok
We did watch some parts, that's why decided to switch to sub eventually :)
Dub is great, Sub is great. Watch the version you want. Nuff said
Looks I will never get my video reaction😭😭😭
Like it is hard to find good channel who reacts to Frieren? :)
日本語版ではないのかちょっと残念。
Never heard the American-English dub before. I'm SO happy to read that you are switching to the original soon. This dub is unbelievable. How did anyone think this was an acceptable way to treat this masterpiece? They completely missed the characters and changed the meaning of significant scenes. This is horrendous.
It's not often that I accidentally hear anime with American-English dub and it's always a horrible experience. I know these people have to make a living but how can they do this? I honestly don't understand. Does anyone even watch this trash? When you compare this to the original and see what a work of art it really is you've got to be the stupidest people in the world to go back to this travesty of a dub. They should force the producers, directors and actors of the dub to watch the original before work starts on the recording.... then fire the lot of them and never think of dubbing anime again.
I'm going to go against dub, no matter what you do or how skilled you are, you can never compete to the sub to the high degree because the animation is literally tailored to the original which is the sub. Now what does the dub version have to deal with?
A script that is restricted by the timing of the animation and whatever context is being lost in the process. Good luck solving that (it can't be done, there is always a hint of awkwardness)
While I did enjoy the sub, the amount of people having a tantrum in the comments about the dub is ridiculous.
Ive been in the anime comunity for 25 years now. Dubs used to be bad but the VA's in the last few years have been putting their hears into it and honestly deserve more credit.
I wish the anime community would stop being so toxic. Prefering the sub is fine, but stop trying to bully people into the sub.
To the people that say they are not going to continue watching the reactions if its dubbed, are you here to watch the show or the reaction?
Also, how would you feel if you did your job to the best of your abilities and people came and say "I prefer someone else". Its disrespectful, unless ofcourse you are a child thats never worked a day in your life before.
Sorry for the rant, it just pisses me off
we didn't bully them, at least myself, but i have my right to reconsider to subscribe their channel too, and they also have their right to continue watch the show in dub, i just not prefer english dub, and i must tell you the fact, TH-cam is not only western audience, and some of us english is not the first or second language, although we learn english, we know english, but as an Asian, Japanese is more familiar and close to my mother tongue
@@JackyThamGK the people saying in the comment section that they will not watch the reaction because it is watched in dubbed is bullying. They are trying to force them into watching sub.
On the note of english not being a first language, it's not my first language either. However, the reaction is in English. The language of the show should have no bearing on the quality of the reaction at all.
That is why I asked in my comment if the people are watching the reaction for the show or the reaction.
Reaction content is not an alternative method to watch shows, it's to see what people's thoughts are on the show.
So even if you are Asian, it doesn't change the fact that the reactors are speaking english.
@xPHx_Ali I agree with you completely.
I am not saying that the YT reactors should ignore the audience. I have a general issue with the audience being closed minded.
There is a constant push from the community that sub is the only way.
While I know that there isn't anything I can do to change that, it still pisses me off.
It would be great if content creators could watch the shows in whatever language they wanted without pushback, but the reality is that they won't get the view if they did that because of this concept that anime must only be watched in sub.
I appreciate the insightful response though.
Thanks for support! We were going to switch to sub anyway, even if there were no comments about it, but the opinion about dub for this show is truly surprising
@@flokithemad3273 nah, i don't buy that, keep your political correctness in your country or region, the fact and reality is, everybody want sub, if you want dub reaction, go watch The Normies and Blind Wave, just like the dude at the top says, if you want make money, care about the viewer what they want, The Normies and Blind Wave use more effort and time to gain the same subscription compare the others, just because they try very hard want to react in dub, and in the end they still react to sub, and this is reality
Like a lot of folks have told you rudely and politely, the sub would be what a lot folks prefer.
The dub isnt bad but given the theme and how character driven the show is, the way the Japanese VAs express is just way better while the English VAs sound flat
We figured, decided to switch to sub anyway even before video release :)
you should realy watch the sub version, their voices are so much more fitting... special Himmels voice.. its just perfectly smooth.. in the dub its sounds like they are always joking
Oh. and if you do.. go for the fan sub
We switched to crunchyroll sub eventually, we did not know there also was some fan sub 🤔
@@DenverSenpai that should still be fine... there are some differences in like frieren always calls heiter a corrupt priest in the fan sub.. in one of the official subs she calls him something else almost every time.
I personaly like fan subs more, because people who do that in their free time seem more didicated nowadays.. and dont try to force their own hidden agenda/politics on the viewer..
like for example in Kobayashi Dragon Maid.
original japanese fan sub for example says,
Tohru: "what's with that outfit?" Lucoa: "everyone was always saying something to me, so I tried toning down the exposure. How is it?" Tohru: "you should try changing your body next."
the official sub/dub is
Lucoa: "oh those pesky patriarchal societal demands were getting on my nerves, so I changed clothes" Tohru: "give it a week, they'll be begging you to change back"
just aweful... Funimation did change that back way later after a big fallout with the community.
That beeing sayd.. i realy hope you like the japanese voices... i love himmels smoothing voice.
watching anime in english... imagine
やっぱ吹替えって下手なんよな…フリーレンなんて棒読みやん。
日本の声優がいかに優れているかがよく分かる動画。
all dub are just destorying every anime...
The dub is killing the feelings that the anime wants to convey, weird
That was a debate about it here hehe, we kind of agreed though, and switched to sub from 3rd episode
Dub, eww... sorry. I watched both dub & sub. I personally prefer the Japanese VA with English sub (I understand Japanese and there are nuances that are lost in the English localization). The Japanese voices and dialogue hit harder emotionally, IMHO.
The Dub is just as good. I watched the sub first so no bias here.
@@captainvanisher988 Just No.
@@captainvanisher988no
I like Eisen’s dub more than sub
Let people watch how hey want to watch dude don't be that loser whos" sUb Is BeTtEr ThAn DuB" as you said you have your preferences let people have their own by themselves
I'm out.
Call me elitist, but after all it took me to learn Japanese, I'm just no longer able to put up with mediocre dubs. 😔
Especially for this show, the English VAs just seem off
Can't blame you, we switched from episode 3, so if you still will be interested, welcome back by then :)
dub sucks...
Dub?? 🤮🤮🤮
I will not continue this journey because of that 😢😢
The real voice actors gives better experience and emotions lol 😂😂😂
It did not seem that bad, but after comparing with sub, we agree sub is much better, especially how Frieren sounds, starting episode 3 it will be sub, if you still will be interested :)
@@DenverSenpaiI'll see you on episode 3! 👍
"The real voice actors gives better experience and emotions"
I hate you guys like you so much anyone who hates dub and forces others to join that stupid notion, like you guys inspire others to harass English Voices actors
You just can't stand peoples preferences and call English VA fake Voice actors like what is wrong with you?
声低い!
our voice?
@@DenverSenpai No, Frierennˋs voice actor ˋs voice.
It's the dub 🤮🤮🤮
You really need to put a warning on the title
Lol, you literally pinned a warning comment... my bad! See you on episode 3!
我還是第一次看到英文版的芙莉蓮XD
Dub? I'll pass..
Hope to see you back starting episode 3, when we switched to sub :)
shit....dub reactor huh....let me reconsider to subscribe their channel too....
dub sucks...
My God ppl like u are repulsive
The dub rules
