- Next stop on the Less is More Tour is Los Angeles to play a house concert. I got to spend a Saturday morning at Santa Monica beach and found a shady palm to sit under and play Big Sciota. A beautiful tune which was just released as a single from the upcoming album 'Banjo Meditations'.
Banjo is tuned in G (gDGBD), however on the record I'm tuned down to D (same relative tuning though: dADFsharpA)

Wow! There's nothing more heavenly than the sound of a Banjo.
Especially clawhammer.

Very nice.. elegantly played..
Thanks for listening!
Beautiful 👏🙂
Hey there Benny! I was at your show in KC this past Wednesday and spoke with you afterwards. It was a pleasure and a fortune to see you perform live.
Hey Mason! Great meeting you and thanks for following along. Catch you further on down the road.
Nails Benny...Safe Travels!
Love your playing.
Thanks Dennis!
Excellent 👍👍
Wish i had your feel of rhythm and timing.
You got it! Do you ever listen to James Brown?
@@BennyBleu yes, ofcourse. Was/is his rhythmic music your key and guide ?
@@F_later Yes, he is one of many guides. The relentless beat and playfulness of dancing around it. Not too different from old time fiddle and banjo music!
amazing tone!
This was perfect for my morning, thanks :)
Your playing is such an inspiration. I absolutely love your albums. Is this filmed with just an iPhone? Your tone comes through so awesome
Thanks so much, it means a lot that other banjo players are listening along 8^) For this video I had a zoom H2 (small audio recorder) stuffed into the back of the banjo! I like getting sound from the back of the banjo because it tends to be deeper and ringy-er.
Great! I live in the county where The Sciota starts!
Cool! All the maps say Scioto, but all the old time records say Sciota or even Scioty... so I never know what to call it! I'd love to get a local's perspective?
@@BennyBleu Sci-O-ta! It meets the Olentangy (known as the old and dingy) on it's way to the Ohio River. Great playing, btw!
that was beautiful ❤ do you teach online ? :)
Thanks! Not much these days. If you sign up for my mailing list, I'll let folks know when I'm doing more lessons again. bennybleu.com/mailinglist/
What brand/model of banjo is this? Sounds nice.
Thanks! It's a Bart Reiter Standard.
Great arrangement & playing. Thnx.
- But having a scoop and not use it ?
No forgive, Gringo.. 😊
Thank you! haha, the scoop - there is a time and a place! I do use it often, just was going for a different sound on this I guess.
