Old Grimes at Santa Cruz Boardwalk - Clawhammer Banjo

The Less is More Tour rolls on to Santa Cruz to play a Fiddling Cricket concert at the Ugly Mug. I sat at the beach for a long time watching the surfers and sailors play in the waves. Someday this beach will be a sandstone deposit and it reminds me of a local horizon from home, the Grimes Sandstone, a 40-foot-thick layer of chunky rock amongst the masses of shales that is fun to follow across the little Finger Lake valleys. I learned the tune from a Norman and Nancy Blake recording, and it was just released as a single from the upcoming album 'Banjo Jubilations'.
