Hi Eric, Not sure if you follow some old threads like this one. Anyway, I have a comment and a question on abalone purfling: I watched many channels, all of them promote the use of the teflon strips. Now, the problems for me, they are difficult to procure in Europe and the sizes are imperial that does not seem to correspond with metric sizes of abalone strips I found. Now is the thing, I am sure guitars and abalone existed long before Dupont invented teflon. So the question is, how was it done before? Do you have any experience doing this without teflon strips? I understand it might be more complicated and longer to do so, but as amateur luthiers are not in a hurry, can you elaborate on that ? Thanks in advance

Eric, FYI, those Home Depot fiberglass rods come in different sizes. I got mine that were about 2 feet long. No cutting needed.
