Thank you sir! My quest of finding the best A350 in a PC sim took me to the FF A350 and i'm very much looking forward to flying this plane. This tutorial is very well put together. Clear, straight forward and complet. Very much appreciated!
When I first started xplane I remember watching the zibo737 tutorial. Now I’ve gained almost 200 hours and started flying the a350. The tutorials are always so helpful and I always try to watch your videos when I can’t figure something out !
I've had this aircraft in my virtual hanger for a long long time now and felt it was going to be a challenge. Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing this awesome tutorial. 👌
A very helpful and comprehensive guide to get the A350 prepared from cold and dark. It is much more complex than the smaller A319/321 models but very satisfying once you have mastered your way through the menus. Happy flying.
I bought the A-350 a few weeks ago and the documentation furnished does not give any indication on how to set up this magnificent plane. I've been flying the Toliss A-319 and A-321 for some time, so after pushback there is no problem, it's an Airbus and thus flies like an Airbus. But this cold and dark video fills a void in the setup procedures in a brilliant manner. Many thanks for having put this on line, you're a born teacher! 🙋🏻♂️
Thank you very much Gilles for your kind comment. Exactly as you said I thought there was a knowledge gap needing to be filled, I am very glad you found this useful.
Ive watched 2 other tutorials on the FFA350 but this one is by far better! So useful the only thing is the calculation for the runway slope i got a big number XD Amazing tutorial keep up the good work!
Edit by future me: Stupid me... Shouldn't write stuff before listening to the entire video. Just as I wrote it down I got to the point where he already mentions it. This might be a bit late and useless info now. But you can calculate the runway slope by looking at the chart of the airport and take a look at the runway that you're about to use. For example: You're on a runway that's 10.000' long. The two ends are 21 and 22. You are about to take off from 21. Look at the chart. There should be an "Elev" around the "21". In this case let's say the Elev is 98. Now look at the other end, which is 22. Let's say the Elev there is 123. This means that you are going to go upwards on the runway. Because the end 22 is higher. Now take the difference between the two points. 123-98. The difference of that is 25. Now divide that number with the length of the runway. 25÷10.000 which is 0.0025. Now multiply that by 100. Comes out to 0.2 but you can round it up to 0.3. And since you're taking off 'upwards' the runway then you type in U0.3. Downwards would be D0.3. And now you have the runway slope. I hope it helps.
Hi Matteo... so far I have 160 hours in the A350, mostly 3 to 5 hour flights. I have the 319, 320 and 321 also, but this is still my favourite Airbus. I watched your video again and, although I don't follow exactly the same flows, they are quite similar. Tx again for putting this video online.
HI Gilles D, lovely to hear from you, I hope you're well. I did find the documentation it came with a little weird, hence why the decision to rewrite it all sticking to the actual FCOM by the letter. As with everything though the order doesn't really matter, as long as it works 😅
Matteo, What a wonderful and informative video. I've been flight-simming for many years and, having just started to learn the A350, this is the best tutorials I've seen. What a pity I didn't come across this earlier and then I wouldn't have wasted lots of time on other videos! I'll continue to search for your other contributions. Best wishes. TG
Matteo, I've just done my first flight after a string of problems with A350 addons, but are you going to a descent and landing video? Please! @@matteochewie4373
Thank you sincerely for making this excellent how-to video on the A350 setup. As you mention in the intro, there are really no other usable videos (or written material either) on this subject. As such, new users of the FF A350 are left with scarce information and guidance on how to properly set this complex aircraft up from cold & dark to flight-ready condition. Beyond that, I find that most videos that pose as instructions for aircraft setup are nowhere near your level of expertise and clarity. I am now watching the video in 10-second intervals, taking copious notes and creating a detailed startup checklist following your detailed guidance. Thank you so much for creating this and sharing it with sim pilots like me who are new to this complex aircraft. I have subscribed to your channel and shared this video with my friends (including Gilles D below). Much appreciated! - Steve Haines, DeskboundAviator
Thank you very much for you very kind words. I am very glad you found the tutorial useful. The A350 is now a very good plane and I thought it deserved some "love".
@@matteochewie4373 Hi Matteo... a question for you. You mention a FWLua script to allow the overhead switches to be more realistic. I installed that and believe it is working in that some, maybe 50%, of the overhead switches now show "OFF" after turning on the four battery switches. You also mentioned that the script imparts "wear" which you eliminated. I would like to do that also as I now see considerable evidence of that. Can you tell me (without a programmer's degree) how this is done? I looked at the script in TextEdit (Mac) and could not see anything that appeared to relate to textures, colors or "wear". Thanks much once again. -SH
@@deskboundaviator7377 Hi there. I am sorry, I wasn't probably very clear when I mentioned that. That Lua script came with a cockpit textures pack which, like some other texture replacement packs, addressed only some colour issues but none of the terrible wear and tear. Therefore I linked only the lua script itself. Since then I have decided to have a go at removing all the wear and tear myself, and since it took me a silly amount of hours to do that, I decided to make my work available to others. I have linked my texture replacement pack in the video description now, so you can get it if you want. If you give it a go please let me know what you think of it.
@@matteochewie4373 Matteo, the results are perfect. Repeat... perfect! The color is better, more authentic. Smoother. Hi Matteo. Another question... I see you obtain your loading and route data from what appears to be a Simbrief route imported into Avitab. I have not been able to find a way to do this other than to save the Simbrief FP as a PDF and import it as a chart. Is this what you did? In that case I presume could you equally well just jump over to the browser and use the Simbrief data displayed there. I ask this simply because the appearance of the data in your Avitab display seemed to differ from what Simbrief shows.
Excellent tutorial once again, Matteo, many thanks, this is really helpful. I would encourage you to continue with the A350 tutorial series, highliting the various phases of flight until landing. Thanks again for your contribution to our x-plane world.
