The best tip is actually to keep up to date on spoilers. We have a rough idea of the next several months of character releases in advance. Use that information to plan out your pulls. F2P pulls are severely limited. Expect to lose every 50/50 and plan accordingly.

yep, i always check out not only the characters kits but also the new bosses’ mechanics bc i want to know what to expect in MoC, bc in the mobs Hoyo usually creates a problem and then sells characters to solve it. Also useful to know PF and MoC buffs to maybe adjust your teams/build a character you haven’t built yet that will be useful
Skip 1-2 banners each time and only pull a character that you will want to add to your two main teams and take to level 80. Dont pull without atleast 16,000 jades saved.(which is surprisingly easy for HSR) And once you have your new 5 star stop pulling immediately.

Literally why not? Imagine you are a beginner who had 40 pulls and almost no characters. Sparkle or Ruan Mei, or some good dps like DHIL or Jing Liu comes, which are all S+ units, and you are like "nah I don't have 100 pulls so I won't pull", makes completely no sense whatsoever. Completely useless, I would even say moronic advice. What's the worst that could happen? You could spend 40 pulls and get the character if you get lucky, or you don't, where in that case those 40 pulls will count in the next banner, and you will only need ~35 pulls to get the next 5*. You didn't know that the pity counter carries over from banner to banner? In that case you are not fit to give advice to people, my dude.
try playing project sekai but f2p. it helps so much. now, my desire for pulling/doing gacha is almost reduced to non-existent. i just want to see huge numbers on my jade count 😂
Once you get comfortable skipping characters, the game becomes a lot less stressful. You have to convince your brain that nothing bad will happen if you skip the shiny new meta character. I've lost almost every 50/50, and I still got all the characters I wanted from their banners because I always go into each banner with like 150-ish rolls. In fact, next patch I'm probably skipping Acheron despite how cool she is, so I can have enough rolls to guarantee SAM whenever he shows up. As long as you plan accordingly, and realize that eventually they will rerun these characters in the future, you should be able to guarantee at least one 5 star per patch.
Agree with u! I got super excited over Acheron, but I had a dream, that she has some limitations in team building and ultimate usage without E2 and the fact that she looks like Seele made me realise, that I dont want her that much, tho Im sure hype will be huge over YT >_
What has helped me save Jades as a f2p was building 4* characters that cover holes in your current roster. I'm currently trying to makes teams for every path bonus offered in the SU game modes and it's really helped explore those team types. When Jingliu was skipped I built Herta, Kafka was Serval, Dan IL for Ratio, in these cases I was still able to 36* MoC and PF while saving up for my favorites.
yeah i use a four star to cover type/niche coverage whenever possible and only pull the holes or if i really like an overlapping five star and if the four star is doing fine i wait to replace them 4 stars in HSR are super underrated it doesn’t take as much from them as ppl assume for standard 5 stars and 4 stars to clear ESP bc they are really cheap to build compared to five stars so even if u replace them they didnt cost that much to build, i also refuse to pull overlapping limited like i have 2 limited sustain characters so im not pulling any more for a long type no matter how much i simp, speaking of simp pulling i actually don’t bc everyone is super likable and if i pulled based on that in this type of game that’s just pulling everyone and honestly some 4 stars are my fave simp wise so i want to use them as long as possible i am also able to clear even with underinvestment in my relics so i think this is fine even if it involves using “weaker characters”
Taking advantage of the MoC and PF Turbulence is the biggest benefit to building 4* characters that share traits with the current limit banner 5*s. Like, I built Sampo and he helped a lot this MoC on the Memory Meme as well as applying debuffs for Dr Ratio. Knowing Black Swan was on rate up was all I needed to prep Sampo ahead of time.
100% agree with EoD here. as a low spender (I buy Welkin or BP every other month) I would never pull just for MOC/PF. I'd rather use every single character I have and see how far can I go. I would pull for a character if they bring new gameplay or synergise witih my "waifu".
I have Blade Bronya Tingyun Lynx and man oh man it sucks fighting enemies not weak against wind. Especially the bug boss because you HAVE to break it. Tried to pull IL but guides say Dr Ratio is enough, but when I tried to build Ratio I realized i dont have the necessary teammates for Ratio.

"Play who you like, if you will use them" is top tier advice. If you roll someone and don't like them or just don't use them, then all those jades are effectively wasted. If you just want to look at the character looking pretty, you can do that online for free. That said, having some knowledge about who may be good for what can be beneficial. Some characters are absolute game-changers, and more consideration should be put to those. Ruan Mei and Sparkle come to mind. Though if your current team is still working fine and you do not like the character, don't pull for them either way.
The "liking the characters you pull" part is so true. I really like Blade, got him on release, but i don't like Luocha as a character at all. So i clear moc 12 with Lynx lol. If anything my journey in genshin has taught me, that not liking meta characters is fine and you can live in peace without pulling them.
Best F2P tip: do your best to have fun and don’t measure your account against whales. RNG shows no mercy for their artifact roles either, so sub-stats are the great equalizer among us. 😘

the tip about saving for 160 is so useful! I’ve been doing that since genshin and transfer over that tactic here too for HSR. It also helps looking at patch how many jade charts people will put out to plan ahead.
One key to know. MOC is always tuned to the latest character. Sometimes you get screwed over by bad turbulences/buff for your turbulence. Just treat moc as 10 floors
As a f2p I have a hard time with 1. Getting gems as I am unable to beat the memory stage ( been playing since day one) completely or the pure fiction 2. None of my gear good so my team struggles 3. I have none of the 5 star light comes from banner 4. Finding content or online help because they all use lights comes ,gear,eldion I don’t have and energy will cost me 12 -24hr of my life to refill back up
As F2P I know that feeling! , Every day I refills my energy and save 10 jade ,only for farming relic. it's worth it because I have GOD Tier relic but I can't play a lot of character. Quality over quantity basically, overall I can beat any endgame content even little bit struggle and need brain to make good rotation.

100% agreed, for a (very) low spender like me, it's difficult to keep up with new characters and it would be tempting to pull for all of them - especially when every new characters are "broken" and how the MOC/PF buffs always favors the said characters. So I decided to focus on my favorites instead of trying to keep up with everything. I pulled for Sparkle because she works amazingly with Dan Heng IL and I believe that she's the type of character that I'll use often+works well with a lot of units. I think the most game-changing tip for me is to stop pulling for signature light cones, since thanks to that I'm able to save more for upcoming characters that I want/need for my account. I managed to get Kafka, Black Swan, and Sparkle because of this ❤ Love their playstyle so much!
If you feel comfy with your account and is finish getting dps and support that's where i recommend LC or Eidelons if you want to vertically invest instead of horizontally investing
I’m at the point where I’m starting to think f2p players can only gamble 50/50 at least once in one banner cycle. HSR seems to be giving out a lot of free warps through the events and it’s enough to at least tempt 50/50 and leaves the players the remainder of the banner’s cycle to play daily to try and secure the guarantee within the next 90 pulls with the accrued jades/warps. I also notice there’s a sense of urgency to create teams that can competently clear MoC and PF since these modes grant the most jades for warp which in turn increases your roster potential which in turn increases your f2p jade income. I hope they continue to do more events to give out more characters in the future. It’d help new players get into the fun of team comps easier and have veterans interested in trying new things.
If u check every patch calcs, then yes even super f2p with some half cleared moc/pf I think still have around 80 pulls to try and get limited character, but as time goes by I see, that most of the standart 5* I got through loses are actually useful, - Himeko and Clara r beasts in Pure Fiction, Gepard is my Fu Xuan that I once lost, I have E4 Bronya so far, but I also got some early comings among limited characters like Kafka in 37 pulls, Jingliu in 3 and last was Black Swan in 16, but I lost almost every 2nd of my 50/50, though I still managed to clear my moc and pf. Also thanks devs for giving us 5* lightcones and decent 4* ones
As a new player, I pulled for Jing Yuan and his LC (which was a must for me, because f2p erudition options were so underwhelming for him)... So yeah, I made a decision that will force me to skip some banners, but I don't care. JY is my main now and I love everything about that character. I think that there are exceptions like if you really love the character and want him/her to pop off then LC is a good investment. Otherwise I agree with you completely - it's better to get the character and then get the light cone on the rerun or skip it entirely when there's a good f2p option. Next stop Topaz I guess? Topaz should definitely be your next big investment considering she'll always come back into the meta every time a busted follow up character gets released
While this game does have powercreep, I do like that it's not as bad as HI3. Its completely fine to still pull for old characters if you like them more despite of new characters coming out. With enough investments, old characters are still viable and great enough to clear. Also be mindful that pulling new characters means you need to invest time building them. The more you get characters, the longer it takes to finish building them to be good for clearing contents.
One thing I’ve learned a long time ago is just play the way you wanna play a game and pull for characters you actually enjoy. That’s made my gaming so much more fun

Same lol. I wouldn't have minded getting Sparkle but I got e1 Geppie instead, and although I have more than enough pulls to get her, I'm saving the guarantee for my man Aventurine. At the end of the day I'd rather see my screen filled with the characters I love, which in my case are all the pretty men XD
why wud u need more shielders then? I built Geppie long time ago after Fu Xuan loss and he is still my 2nd moc sustain, so even tho I love the sound of Avens snapping, but another shielder, that needs to use SP to function is a bit tuff, especially if no Sparkle, - so I went for her instead@@bombombakudan2831
As a very low spender in Genshin and now HSR for a long time now (Welkin/Express only) I was curious if EODGamer would say the main things I do in both games, and he nailed it. Pull for who you like most importantly. Don't stress over full clearing MoC/PF, and characters > signature light cones (though if you have a favorite, by all means invest in the cone). I agree on all points, great video.
Two things that "boosted" my account a lot: One thing was swapping gears between my DPS's. I used to spend lots of resources to build each damage dealer and everyone knows how painfull that is, when i started to swap relics just to the characters that i need to clear moc in each stage i realized that i just need two set of really good stats relics(ignoring the set bonus). The other thing was Sparkle 😅
Fully agree on new characters > light cones/eidolons, new characters not only bring new playstyles but it gives you more variety for team comps. Light cones/eidolons will boost one character, but it’s more important for f2p to have multiple good characters than to have one super good character
I don't fully agree with this because in pure fiction you really want multiple archetypes on your account (Follow up, DoT, etc...) otherwise you will struggle alot
@@Thunderdroceon there's a reason why Herta/Himeko is god tier in PF, both got field wide AOE with FUA (Herta also have field wide AOE with her skill, but 4* have lower stat). As for DoT, Black Swan just fit perfectly for PF, though I have to say its more for the current buff that catered to her.
As a small spender (monthly and BP), i’m planning on : 1. Team Core DPS with Eidolon : i enjoy to build 1 focused character until it maximal powers of relic and eidolon ( ex : e2 acheron , e2 dhil with “SSS” tier of relic ) 2. Universal “OP” support with eidolon : ex : e1 ruan/sparkle 3. As long as i could finish MoC/PF perfectly clear (fullstar, no matter how much cycle), i wouldn’t pull the char except that char offers amazing kit/amazing animation, yea i’m an animation enjoyer) 4. Pulling Universal/OP Lightcone. I got lucky on my ratio lc and he hit like a truck. Yea at the end it’s preferences just enjoy the game, do whatever what makes you happy😆
I'm actually in the same boat, I feel like as we're approaching anniversary I can relax and plan for eidolons and lightcones of characters are use and like the most. At the same time Im just checking whos most OP or attractive. As of now I think I can drop BP and just use monthly supply
Best tip is watch videos on character builds. That way players can have better ideas on who to build and how to maximize time and resources. Don't go around upgrading every character you get. As for relics, decent purple stats can go a long way. I made an alt account and cruised through the story and some contents without any problems. Still have tons of resources waiting for new characters. Including stellar jades which is at 27k rn. And i haven't a single jade to pull exclusive banners. Another, don't get sucked in completely by the infos from content creators. Every new character to them is meta changing, busted and what not. Check the playstyle see if it fits your style of game, and most importantly if it fits your team comps. Lastly, enjoy the game.
i am a light spender ,monthly pass only since day 1 having played genshin for 3 years my only advice is instead of lots of weak characters, go for eideleons/LC and units that have multiple utility dont chase meta , they change it twice every year you will end up with lots of benched units, which could have been a copy of a favourite unit Genshin is a skill based game , HSR is a numbers game, you have enough stats, you clear dont chase dmg, chase multiple utility in a single package
As an F2p who pulled for Imbibitor Lunae E0 and Jing Lu E0S1 I don't have any problem clearing even the hardest content Just focus on Getting Strong DPS first then Support & sustain And you'll soar through everything
i didnt pull Dan Heng because i have Dr Ratio even tho Dan Heng got a huge burst damage, i pulled black swan bcs i want her with kafka (but i started playing the game when they removed kafka banner so i must wait alot) now idk if i have to pull for acheron or wait kafka (to get strong lightning character) so your recommendation is to pull for strong DPS? like Jingliu, Seele Argenti? As someone who just started HSR recently, these videos are amazing! I appreciated the limited LC review you recently did. If you're still looking for new topics: could you do an updated review on how to prioritize 4* choices? All the options from Herta's shop, battle pass, forgotten hall, and now the new penacony 4* LCs are a little overwhelming. Most guides are either 8 months old and don't consider how the game has changed since release, or assume people have the old LCs already S5'd (when talking about the new ones)... help a new PS5 player figure out how to prioritize spending these currencies? 🙏
I started playing the game last year in December. Ever since I got many characters and I invested a lot on them but what I noticed that as a light spender, and even for f2p and I think especially for f2p, the challenge is not getting the character but building them. I have Xueyi E6, I love the character but I cannot get any relics for her. And all my characters are at best decently built but nothing too much and that hurts the game a lot, it's such a slow process. So you may like a character, get that character but never get to use it because it's very hard to build them. DoT units are the best because they just need ATK.
Lightcones aren't that bad. They are a QoL that kinda eases up your runs and sometimes makes their attacks "lore-accurate". Maybe not for F2P players, but i don't think i regretted a single lightcone i've pulled so far. Having plans and seeing if they are worth or not is good. Although, I was anxious on how I planned my account for quite some time, especially when finding out Sparkle and Acheron are back to back.
As a F2P, my honest tip is to not waste a single relic that has speed main stats and speed sub stats. I have a lot of friends that have really good characters but are doing really poor in MoC and PF because their characters are just too slow, both the DPS and Supports. This is more of a general tip, but whales can easily fix that problem with eidolons and Lightcones. Another one is to pull and actually build your supports and sustains. Pulling for Sparkles and Ruanmei are both vertical and horizontal investment, you diversify your characters, but also makes your older characters way stronger than before. Then some people complain they cannot survive with non limited sustain, but built them properly even March can carry you in floor 12. Building different characters also gives you advantage in Pure fiction since the buffs in that mode are too specific, i built all DPS archetypes in the game so i breeze through it. Lastly, Relics aren’t guaranteed, better get traces and exp first because they are. Relics can be universally shared with characters, sets are good, but sub stats are way more important. When you get the characters at high trace, then you can start grinding for their designated relics(or just grind the quantum set lol).
You seem like a knowledgeable person to ask. Are set bonuses that important or is it possible to get away with "rainbow" sets (random artifacts from diff sets, but with good individual stats that meet thresholds)?
@@MarkkunwastakenIt depends on the character really. For supports I'd say it's usually fine, but for damage you should really try to aim for set bonuses. Like as long as Tingyun has speed, it really doesn't matter, but not having stuff that could boost follow up damage for Dr Ratio or Jing Yuan could really gimp you for example.
I lost my 50/50 to Jingliu at hard pitty, got her at hard pitty later on, pulled for aventurine, lost the 50/50 now trying to get pulls for him 😫 at least I got Bailu and Gepard now
just build two good teams like one kafka team and one acheron team really build them to be good and pull for their supports then go for eidolons and other characters
how i can keep up and not feel stressed is to only pull on characters i really like and made it so i will only pull on characters like Jingliu, Ruan Mei, Acheron, Black Swan and those type, that way i wont stress about not getting every character and to not care about meta
it does, as of right now she is kinda niche but if you are planning to pull for acheron. Sw is a godsend, just slap acheron,pela, sw and any sustain then you're good to go. Most people skipping acheron because they don't have SW

It's just that with very few damage dealers (resources are never enough, and I also have to build supports), I can force my DPSs in MoC and SU. This has been the case since I started playing. My roster is growing, but she still plays a big role in clearing hard contents.
Can anyone answer me this? If I lose the 50/50 without hitting pity, but I decide i'm gonna not try for that banner anymore and wait for the next banner (example Acheron) will I be guaranteed Acheron if I either get lucky before pity or go the full 90 because I lost the 50/50 in the sparkle banner?
When you get a 5* character the pity reset. So now you at 0 pity. You can get Acheron in 10 pull or 90 its depends on your luck but its 100% guaranteed.
#1 tip has to be stated more explicitly: *you cannot pull on every banner and have to skip some banners, even if you don’t want to*. I know you *kinda* said this by skirting around it and saying jades are a resource you need to manage, but just say it explicitly: there will be characters you totally love, 100% want to pull and you’ll just have to skip their banner if you want to be guaranteed to get the *next* 5* character that you love and “must have”. I agree that banking up 160 to 180 pulls is the best thing you can do as a f2p, and then if you get the hero you want (especially if you win the 50/50), *stop pulling and bank back up to 160-180 pulls*. #2 tip: do not ever, ever, ever pull for 4* character eidolons as a f2p. Even if you love, love, love the character and think they’re the best thing in the universe, you are never guaranteed to get a specific 4* hero on a banner, and chasing their eidolons can cost you a ton of jades that you’re not guaranteed any kind of payoff for. You will get every other featured 4*, light cones that are useless to you, and even non-featured 4* when pulling on a banner, using up your jades with nothing to show for it. Final thought: by skipping characters that you don’t like/don’t want, it doesn’t mean that you can pull in every single banner of characters that you *do* like (unless you just hate everyone 😄). There are going to be a lot more characters that are hyped and appealing than what you can pull for.
I have e2 fuxuan with her cone on s1 I dont regret it at all because she is my favorite character and I dont regret missing out on 3 banners for her. But I am f2p with a good variety of 4 star charcters and I probably wont be pulling like that again for a year atleast
If your min maxing as f2p then lc isn't actually that bad. Some characters grow significantly stronger with their lc like blade and jing yuan. Eidolons too, ruan mei e1 is busted and il e2 is basically as strong as some other characters e6. If your f2p first question to ask yourself is what is your goal. After that, you can start planning.
This is timely... I'm only 30 days into HSR and I really don't care about end-game (yet). So I'm just looking for a few carries, good sustains to help me clear the story and side quests. Pulled Sparkle and I won't say she's bad... just that early game, I haven't found she's all that useful.

Meanwhile, I just bruteforce everything with JY and full star everything since forever as F2P. There are many players who can't full star MOC because they pull too many DPS characters bru, all their characters have halfass build because of that. And I have different opinions about sig LC, I actually think that sig LC is worth it for DPS characters.
I started to play in 1.6 and I feel a bit left behind, I want to play with as much character as it possible so I just made another account in 2.0. I can say it was worth it.
as a small spender (battle pass and daily login jades) and a new player, i’m sticking to building up a main team first to spend my jades on but making sure they’re a cohesive team by looking at the meta
started 1st of january and when looking through the characters i really liked topaz’s design and numby is too cute, so i got ruan mei + her lightcone, got the free dr ratio obviously, then have saved 174ish pulls since the start of ratio/kafka banners
I buy every pass and have express daily jades and I know I just need to pull on everyone because I'm a waifu/husbando collector. So I had to put a limit. I know banners return so I decided I'd stop pulling for new charActers after losing 50/50 on Black Swan so my next pulls were on Jin Yuan but even though my Luocha is fully built I pulled Acheron anyway because I spam SU but I am gonna skip Acheron and pull on the returning banner instead
To be honest in 2024, I feel like new players r a bit limited in characters/teams, coz every1 r getting Dr.Ratio and most likely going to build at least 1 MoC team around him, and then 2nd team with something they like, so the best tip is to use ur free doctor to the max and then pull for another good dps (pref that can hit the full board), that can be used in MoC and PF. MoC is not an issue here at all, dam PF is making me a bit sweaty, Im even wanting some Erudition character asap, - need to build Herta, Serval maybe even Sampo, Asta... I think alot of players still think in only usefulness of characters in MoC, but its no longer this way, Im sure as time goes by its going to be more stages in PF with more HP and need very specific harmony characters there, maybe more damage sustains etc...

One thing I will not agree on in this video is "Can I wait for a rerun of a character?" because if there's 1 thing Genshin has taught me , is that Reruns are chaotic , you never know when they'll come back , if ever (Eula was never featured in a rerun for an entire YEAR) , other than that , good video

hi there, I'm just scrolling thru comments and saw yours. Are you still at world 2? My team when I was there was Ratio March7 Serval gallagher. Imo Fire TB should be good enough, and if any shield breaks thru, Natasha can heal. Dan Heng I used till end of Belobog, tho I replaced him with Ratio eventually. It helped that my units can supply debuffs for Ratio (Serval march etc). I didnt farm relics either. But also, I was very ok with running from enemies and just blazed to the story point, then clearing the area for chests etc when my team is better
You also need to know that some players would like to completely clear all the endgame content because they are the only hard contents available. Also some want to do collecting a part, if not all of the character roster. what you are saying imo is very bland because what's the point of playing hsr if there is no end game content to clear/you dont fuss clearing those types of content. Everyday would be a chore doing dailies if those content weren't being accesed and played on.
For acheron: they will most likely add a 4* lc options for her in the future so id say her lc is not really a 100% must have so if you have enough jades for acheron and a lc or character go for the character
yeah if you're playing f2p. All gacha games are pretty much Resource Management Simulator. I'm f2p of 3month account and I can 35/36 MoC and 12/12 the recent PF. I'm waiting for Acheron to hopefully 36/36 this MoC and 12/12 PF also

The best tip is actually to keep up to date on spoilers. We have a rough idea of the next several months of character releases in advance. Use that information to plan out your pulls. F2P pulls are severely limited. Expect to lose every 50/50 and plan accordingly.
priceless advice actually, a f2p should ALWAYS be up to date on leaks and have extensive general game knowledge to compensate for the lack of resources
yep, i always check out not only the characters kits but also the new bosses’ mechanics bc i want to know what to expect in MoC, bc in the mobs Hoyo usually creates a problem and then sells characters to solve it. Also useful to know PF and MoC buffs to maybe adjust your teams/build a character you haven’t built yet that will be useful

Skip 1-2 banners each time and only pull a character that you will want to add to your two main teams and take to level 80. Dont pull without atleast 16,000 jades saved.(which is surprisingly easy for HSR) And once you have your new 5 star stop pulling immediately.

Literally why not? Imagine you are a beginner who had 40 pulls and almost no characters. Sparkle or Ruan Mei, or some good dps like DHIL or Jing Liu comes, which are all S+ units, and you are like "nah I don't have 100 pulls so I won't pull", makes completely no sense whatsoever. Completely useless, I would even say moronic advice. What's the worst that could happen? You could spend 40 pulls and get the character if you get lucky, or you don't, where in that case those 40 pulls will count in the next banner, and you will only need ~35 pulls to get the next 5*. You didn't know that the pity counter carries over from banner to banner? In that case you are not fit to give advice to people, my dude.

Once you get comfortable skipping characters, the game becomes a lot less stressful. You have to convince your brain that nothing bad will happen if you skip the shiny new meta character. I've lost almost every 50/50, and I still got all the characters I wanted from their banners because I always go into each banner with like 150-ish rolls. In fact, next patch I'm probably skipping Acheron despite how cool she is, so I can have enough rolls to guarantee SAM whenever he shows up. As long as you plan accordingly, and realize that eventually they will rerun these characters in the future, you should be able to guarantee at least one 5 star per patch.

What has helped me save Jades as a f2p was building 4* characters that cover holes in your current roster. I'm currently trying to makes teams for every path bonus offered in the SU game modes and it's really helped explore those team types. When Jingliu was skipped I built Herta, Kafka was Serval, Dan IL for Ratio, in these cases I was still able to 36* MoC and PF while saving up for my favorites.

yeah i use a four star to cover type/niche coverage whenever possible and only pull the holes or if i really like an overlapping five star and if the four star is doing fine i wait to replace them 4 stars in HSR are super underrated it doesn’t take as much from them as ppl assume for standard 5 stars and 4 stars to clear ESP bc they are really cheap to build compared to five stars so even if u replace them they didnt cost that much to build, i also refuse to pull overlapping limited like i have 2 limited sustain characters so im not pulling any more for a long type no matter how much i simp, speaking of simp pulling i actually don’t bc everyone is super likable and if i pulled based on that in this type of game that’s just pulling everyone and honestly some 4 stars are my fave simp wise so i want to use them as long as possible i am also able to clear even with underinvestment in my relics so i think this is fine even if it involves using “weaker characters”
Taking advantage of the MoC and PF Turbulence is the biggest benefit to building 4* characters that share traits with the current limit banner 5*s. Like, I built Sampo and he helped a lot this MoC on the Memory Meme as well as applying debuffs for Dr Ratio. Knowing Black Swan was on rate up was all I needed to prep Sampo ahead of time.
100% agree with EoD here. as a low spender (I buy Welkin or BP every other month) I would never pull just for MOC/PF. I'd rather use every single character I have and see how far can I go. I would pull for a character if they bring new gameplay or synergise witih my "waifu".
I have Blade Bronya Tingyun Lynx and man oh man it sucks fighting enemies not weak against wind. Especially the bug boss because you HAVE to break it. Tried to pull IL but guides say Dr Ratio is enough, but when I tried to build Ratio I realized i dont have the necessary teammates for Ratio.

@@Iluvatar196ratio and weltz are the hardest characters to build. IL with sparkle is cracked , you can go for jinglu , she kinda synergies with blade what Ik
"Play who you like, if you will use them" is top tier advice. If you roll someone and don't like them or just don't use them, then all those jades are effectively wasted. If you just want to look at the character looking pretty, you can do that online for free.
That said, having some knowledge about who may be good for what can be beneficial. Some characters are absolute game-changers, and more consideration should be put to those. Ruan Mei and Sparkle come to mind. Though if your current team is still working fine and you do not like the character, don't pull for them either way.
The "liking the characters you pull" part is so true. I really like Blade, got him on release, but i don't like Luocha as a character at all. So i clear moc 12 with Lynx lol. If anything my journey in genshin has taught me, that not liking meta characters is fine and you can live in peace without pulling them.
Same I love Blade, I’m waiting for his rerun cause I started playing in 2.0. Idc if he’s “bad” I love his play style.
Best F2P tip: do your best to have fun and don’t measure your account against whales. RNG shows no mercy for their artifact roles either, so sub-stats are the great equalizer among us. 😘

the tip about saving for 160 is so useful! I’ve been doing that since genshin and transfer over that tactic here too for HSR. It also helps looking at patch how many jade charts people will put out to plan ahead.
One key to know. MOC is always tuned to the latest character. Sometimes you get screwed over by bad turbulences/buff for your turbulence.
Just treat moc as 10 floors
As a f2p I have a hard time with
1. Getting gems as I am unable to beat the memory stage ( been playing since day one) completely or the pure fiction
2. None of my gear good so my team struggles
3. I have none of the 5 star light comes from banner
4. Finding content or online help because they all use lights comes ,gear,eldion I don’t have and energy will cost me 12 -24hr of my life to refill back up

As F2P I know that feeling! , Every day I refills my energy and save 10 jade ,only for farming relic. it's worth it because I have GOD Tier relic but I can't play a lot of character.
Quality over quantity basically, overall I can beat any endgame content even little bit struggle and need brain to make good rotation.

100% agreed, for a (very) low spender like me, it's difficult to keep up with new characters and it would be tempting to pull for all of them - especially when every new characters are "broken" and how the MOC/PF buffs always favors the said characters. So I decided to focus on my favorites instead of trying to keep up with everything. I pulled for Sparkle because she works amazingly with Dan Heng IL and I believe that she's the type of character that I'll use often+works well with a lot of units.
I think the most game-changing tip for me is to stop pulling for signature light cones, since thanks to that I'm able to save more for upcoming characters that I want/need for my account. I managed to get Kafka, Black Swan, and Sparkle because of this ❤ Love their playstyle so much!
If you feel comfy with your account and is finish getting dps and support that's where i recommend LC or Eidelons if you want to vertically invest instead of horizontally investing

I’m at the point where I’m starting to think f2p players can only gamble 50/50 at least once in one banner cycle. HSR seems to be giving out a lot of free warps through the events and it’s enough to at least tempt 50/50 and leaves the players the remainder of the banner’s cycle to play daily to try and secure the guarantee within the next 90 pulls with the accrued jades/warps. I also notice there’s a sense of urgency to create teams that can competently clear MoC and PF since these modes grant the most jades for warp which in turn increases your roster potential which in turn increases your f2p jade income. I hope they continue to do more events to give out more characters in the future. It’d help new players get into the fun of team comps easier and have veterans interested in trying new things.
If u check every patch calcs, then yes even super f2p with some half cleared moc/pf I think still have around 80 pulls to try and get limited character, but as time goes by I see, that most of the standart 5* I got through loses are actually useful, - Himeko and Clara r beasts in Pure Fiction, Gepard is my Fu Xuan that I once lost, I have E4 Bronya so far, but I also got some early comings among limited characters like Kafka in 37 pulls, Jingliu in 3 and last was Black Swan in 16, but I lost almost every 2nd of my 50/50, though I still managed to clear my moc and pf. Also thanks devs for giving us 5* lightcones and decent 4* ones
As a low spender that enjoys playing the same character over and over I think light cones and eidolons for my favorites are super worth it
As a new player, I pulled for Jing Yuan and his LC (which was a must for me, because f2p erudition options were so underwhelming for him)... So yeah, I made a decision that will force me to skip some banners, but I don't care. JY is my main now and I love everything about that character. I think that there are exceptions like if you really love the character and want him/her to pop off then LC is a good investment. Otherwise I agree with you completely - it's better to get the character and then get the light cone on the rerun or skip it entirely when there's a good f2p option. Next stop Topaz I guess? While this game does have powercreep, I do like that it's not as bad as HI3. Its completely fine to still pull for old characters if you like them more despite of new characters coming out. With enough investments, old characters are still viable and great enough to clear.
Also be mindful that pulling new characters means you need to invest time building them. The more you get characters, the longer it takes to finish building them to be good for clearing contents.
One thing I’ve learned a long time ago is just play the way you wanna play a game and pull for characters you actually enjoy. That’s made my gaming so much more fun

As a very low spender in Genshin and now HSR for a long time now (Welkin/Express only) I was curious if EODGamer would say the main things I do in both games, and he nailed it. Pull for who you like most importantly. Don't stress over full clearing MoC/PF, and characters > signature light cones (though if you have a favorite, by all means invest in the cone). I agree on all points, great video.
Two things that "boosted" my account a lot: One thing was swapping gears between my DPS's. I used to spend lots of resources to build each damage dealer and everyone knows how painfull that is, when i started to swap relics just to the characters that i need to clear moc in each stage i realized that i just need two set of really good stats relics(ignoring the set bonus). The other thing was Sparkle 😅

Fully agree on new characters > light cones/eidolons, new characters not only bring new playstyles but it gives you more variety for team comps. Light cones/eidolons will boost one character, but it’s more important for f2p to have multiple good characters than to have one super good character

I don't fully agree with this because in pure fiction you really want multiple archetypes on your account (Follow up, DoT, etc...) otherwise you will struggle alot

@@Thunderdroceon there's a reason why Herta/Himeko is god tier in PF, both got field wide AOE with FUA (Herta also have field wide AOE with her skill, but 4* have lower stat). As for DoT, Black Swan just fit perfectly for PF, though I have to say its more for the current buff that catered to her.
As a small spender (monthly and BP), i’m planning on :
1. Team Core DPS with Eidolon : i enjoy to build 1 focused character until it maximal powers of relic and eidolon ( ex : e2 acheron , e2 dhil with “SSS” tier of relic )
2. Universal “OP” support with eidolon : ex : e1 ruan/sparkle
3. As long as i could finish MoC/PF perfectly clear (fullstar, no matter how much cycle), i wouldn’t pull the char except that char offers amazing kit/amazing animation, yea i’m an animation enjoyer)
4. Pulling Universal/OP Lightcone. I got lucky on my ratio lc and he hit like a truck.

I'm actually in the same boat, I feel like as we're approaching anniversary I can relax and plan for eidolons and lightcones of characters are use and like the most. At the same time Im just checking whos most OP or attractive. As of now I think I can drop BP and just use monthly supply
Tips for f2p players: never spin for limited lightcones if u already spin for the limited characters, just buy it from herta stores..
And if u do got them lightcones from herta store, don't super impose untill u got spare/diffren lc..

Best tip is watch videos on character builds. That way players can have better ideas on who to build and how to maximize time and resources. Don't go around upgrading every character you get. As for relics, decent purple stats can go a long way. I made an alt account and cruised through the story and some contents without any problems. Still have tons of resources waiting for new characters. Including stellar jades which is at 27k rn. And i haven't a single jade to pull exclusive banners.
Another, don't get sucked in completely by the infos from content creators. Every new character to them is meta changing, busted and what not. Check the playstyle see if it fits your style of game, and most importantly if it fits your team comps.
Lastly, enjoy the game.

my only advice is
instead of lots of weak characters, go for eideleons/LC and units that have multiple utility
dont chase meta , they change it twice every year
you will end up with lots of benched units, which could have been a copy of a favourite unit
Genshin is a skill based game , HSR is a numbers game, you have enough stats, you clear
dont chase dmg, chase multiple utility in a single package
As an F2p who pulled for Imbibitor Lunae E0 and Jing Lu E0S1
I don't have any problem clearing even the hardest content
Just focus on Getting Strong DPS first then Support & sustain
And you'll soar through everything
i didnt pull Dan Heng because i have Dr Ratio even tho Dan Heng got a huge burst damage, i pulled black swan bcs i want her with kafka (but i started playing the game when they removed kafka banner so i must wait alot) now idk if i have to pull for acheron or wait kafka (to get strong lightning character) so your recommendation is to pull for strong DPS? like Jingliu, Seele Argenti? As someone who just started HSR recently, these videos are amazing! I appreciated the limited LC review you recently did. If you're still looking for new topics: could you do an updated review on how to prioritize 4* choices? All the options from Herta's shop, battle pass, forgotten hall, and now the new penacony 4* LCs are a little overwhelming. Most guides are either 8 months old and don't consider how the game has changed since release, or assume people have the old LCs already S5'd (when talking about the new ones)... help a new PS5 player figure out how to prioritize spending these currencies? 🙏

I started playing the game last year in December. Ever since I got many characters and I invested a lot on them but what I noticed that as a light spender, and even for f2p and I think especially for f2p, the challenge is not getting the character but building them. I have Xueyi E6, I love the character but I cannot get any relics for her. And all my characters are at best decently built but nothing too much and that hurts the game a lot, it's such a slow process.
So you may like a character, get that character but never get to use it because it's very hard to build them.
DoT units are the best because they just need ATK.
Pulling for meta is helpful if you want to clear end content, if you dont care about it, pull for characters u like that aren’t necessarily meta
I only pull hot mommy characters, & trying to slowly build my mono quantum roster

Hi, love your content do you plan on a more in-dept review of the MoC light cones?
Lightcones aren't that bad. They are a QoL that kinda eases up your runs and sometimes makes their attacks "lore-accurate". Maybe not for F2P players, but i don't think i regretted a single lightcone i've pulled so far. Having plans and seeing if they are worth or not is good. Although, I was anxious on how I planned my account for quite some time, especially when finding out Sparkle and Acheron are back to back.
As a F2P, my honest tip is to not waste a single relic that has speed main stats and speed sub stats. I have a lot of friends that have really good characters but are doing really poor in MoC and PF because their characters are just too slow, both the DPS and Supports. This is more of a general tip, but whales can easily fix that problem with eidolons and Lightcones.
Another one is to pull and actually build your supports and sustains. Pulling for Sparkles and Ruanmei are both vertical and horizontal investment, you diversify your characters, but also makes your older characters way stronger than before. Then some people complain they cannot survive with non limited sustain, but built them properly even March can carry you in floor 12. Building different characters also gives you advantage in Pure fiction since the buffs in that mode are too specific, i built all DPS archetypes in the game so i breeze through it.
Lastly, Relics aren’t guaranteed, better get traces and exp first because they are. Relics can be universally shared with characters, sets are good, but sub stats are way more important. When you get the characters at high trace, then you can start grinding for their designated relics(or just grind the quantum set lol).
You seem like a knowledgeable person to ask. Are set bonuses that important or is it possible to get away with "rainbow" sets (random artifacts from diff sets, but with good individual stats that meet thresholds)?
@@MarkkunwastakenIt depends on the character really. For supports I'd say it's usually fine, but for damage you should really try to aim for set bonuses. Like as long as Tingyun has speed, it really doesn't matter, but not having stuff that could boost follow up damage for Dr Ratio or Jing Yuan could really gimp you for example.
I lost my 50/50 to Jingliu at hard pitty, got her at hard pitty later on, pulled for aventurine, lost the 50/50 now trying to get pulls for him 😫 at least I got Bailu and Gepard now

it does, as of right now she is kinda niche but if you are planning to pull for acheron. Sw is a godsend, just slap acheron,pela, sw and any sustain then you're good to go. Most people skipping acheron because they don't have SW

Can anyone answer me this? If I lose the 50/50 without hitting pity, but I decide i'm gonna not try for that banner anymore and wait for the next banner (example Acheron) will I be guaranteed Acheron if I either get lucky before pity or go the full 90 because I lost the 50/50 in the sparkle banner?
When you get a 5* character the pity reset. So now you at 0 pity. You can get Acheron in 10 pull or 90 its depends on your luck but its 100% guaranteed.
I used up the beginning banner and only got 1 5*, Welt. Pulled on the bottom banner and got Luca and Zueyi.

#1 tip has to be stated more explicitly: *you cannot pull on every banner and have to skip some banners, even if you don’t want to*. I know you *kinda* said this by skirting around it and saying jades are a resource you need to manage, but just say it explicitly: there will be characters you totally love, 100% want to pull and you’ll just have to skip their banner if you want to be guaranteed to get the *next* 5* character that you love and “must have”. I agree that banking up 160 to 180 pulls is the best thing you can do as a f2p, and then if you get the hero you want (especially if you win the 50/50), *stop pulling and bank back up to 160-180 pulls*.
#2 tip: do not ever, ever, ever pull for 4* character eidolons as a f2p. Even if you love, love, love the character and think they’re the best thing in the universe, you are never guaranteed to get a specific 4* hero on a banner, and chasing their eidolons can cost you a ton of jades that you’re not guaranteed any kind of payoff for. You will get every other featured 4*, light cones that are useless to you, and even non-featured 4* when pulling on a banner, using up your jades with nothing to show for it.
Final thought: by skipping characters that you don’t like/don’t want, it doesn’t mean that you can pull in every single banner of characters that you *do* like (unless you just hate everyone 😄). There are going to be a lot more characters that are hyped and appealing than what you can pull for.
I have e2 fuxuan with her cone on s1 I dont regret it at all because she is my favorite character and I dont regret missing out on 3 banners for her. But I am f2p with a good variety of 4 star charcters and I probably wont be pulling like that again for a year atleast
If your min maxing as f2p then lc isn't actually that bad. Some characters grow significantly stronger with their lc like blade and jing yuan. Eidolons too, ruan mei e1 is busted and il e2 is basically as strong as some other characters e6.
If your f2p first question to ask yourself is what is your goal. After that, you can start planning.
This is timely... I'm only 30 days into HSR and I really don't care about end-game (yet). So I'm just looking for a few carries, good sustains to help me clear the story and side quests.
Pulled Sparkle and I won't say she's bad... just that early game, I haven't found she's all that useful.

Meanwhile, I just bruteforce everything with JY and full star everything since forever as F2P. There are many players who can't full star MOC because they pull too many DPS characters bru, all their characters have halfass build because of that. And I have different opinions about sig LC, I actually think that sig LC is worth it for DPS characters.
I started to play in 1.6 and I feel a bit left behind, I want to play with as much character as it possible so I just made another account in 2.0. I can say it was worth it.
as a small spender (battle pass and daily login jades) and a new player, i’m sticking to building up a main team first to spend my jades on but making sure they’re a cohesive team by looking at the meta
started 1st of january and when looking through the characters i really liked topaz’s design and numby is too cute, so i got ruan mei + her lightcone, got the free dr ratio obviously, then have saved 174ish pulls since the start of ratio/kafka banners
lowkey scared that topaz will rerun alongside adventurine since i want e1s1 topaz but obviously want adventurine for the 3 follow up attack team core

I buy every pass and have express daily jades and I know I just need to pull on everyone because I'm a waifu/husbando collector. So I had to put a limit. I know banners return so I decided I'd stop pulling for new charActers after losing 50/50 on Black Swan so my next pulls were on Jin Yuan but even though my Luocha is fully built I pulled Acheron anyway because I spam SU but I am gonna skip Acheron and pull on the returning banner instead
To be honest in 2024, I feel like new players r a bit limited in characters/teams, coz every1 r getting Dr.Ratio and most likely going to build at least 1 MoC team around him, and then 2nd team with something they like, so the best tip is to use ur free doctor to the max and then pull for another good dps (pref that can hit the full board), that can be used in MoC and PF. MoC is not an issue here at all, dam PF is making me a bit sweaty, Im even wanting some Erudition character asap, - need to build Herta, Serval maybe even Sampo, Asta... I think alot of players still think in only usefulness of characters in MoC, but its no longer this way, Im sure as time goes by its going to be more stages in PF with more HP and need very specific harmony characters there, maybe more damage sustains etc...

also guys dont make the same mistake as i did 😭 so i gaslighted myself into thinking that my account is trash because at that time i didnt have many 5* so yeah i was purposefully skipping moc. when pf was added i decided to give it a shot bc ive built mostly aoe chars...in the end i got 11/12 :DD i was so happy and proud cuz ive proved myself wrong. then i decided to try moc but yeah i was worried i would get only like 18-21 stars but i 3star'ed moc 10 😎 i tried moc 11 and 12 but i got 2 and 1 star respectively

well done! ur a lot better than me, I did moc and I thought that Im fine, but oh boi Pure fiction totally hit me, - I was not prepared so last months I was building Himeko and Herta, and its totally paid off - got 61k this Pf after several tries. Sweaty but happy!

One thing I will not agree on in this video is "Can I wait for a rerun of a character?" because if there's 1 thing Genshin has taught me , is that Reruns are chaotic , you never know when they'll come back , if ever (Eula was never featured in a rerun for an entire YEAR) , other than that , good video

as a F2P on MOC i brute force non weak element with JingLiu xd this wasnt the case i wasnt a meta cuck i just wanted her in the 1st place coz shes ice dps and i ABSOLUTELY HATE YANQING

What limits you, is waiting to build your team and not being able to beat story mode because of it. 😡 I'm on the 2nd world. My team atm is a lvl 50 Fire trailblazer, lvl 50 Natasha, lvl 50 Serval and a lvl 50 Dan Heng. My team when I was there was Ratio March7 Serval gallagher. Imo Fire TB should be good enough, and if any shield breaks thru, Natasha can heal. Dan Heng I used till end of Belobog, tho I replaced him with Ratio eventually. It helped that my units can supply debuffs for Ratio (Serval march etc). I didnt farm relics either. But also, I was very ok with running from enemies and just blazed to the story point, then clearing the area for chests etc when my team is better
You also need to know that some players would like to completely clear all the endgame content because they are the only hard contents available. Also some want to do collecting a part, if not all of the character roster. what you are saying imo is very bland because what's the point of playing hsr if there is no end game content to clear/you dont fuss clearing those types of content. Everyday would be a chore doing dailies if those content weren't being accesed and played on.

For acheron: they will most likely add a 4* lc options for her in the future so id say her lc is not really a 100% must have so if you have enough jades for acheron and a lc or character go for the character

yeah if you're playing f2p. All gacha games are pretty much Resource Management Simulator. I'm f2p of 3month account and I can 35/36 MoC and 12/12 the recent PF. I'm waiting for Acheron to hopefully 36/36 this MoC and 12/12 PF also
