    Great video, thanks! Hoya rotundiflora.... I found that propagating rotundiflora cuttings with rooting hormone, in just plain very moist but not wet perlite in a clear covered prop box does the trick... never lost one and she rooted just as fast as the others, under lights, no heat mat. Pop the top every few days and use a spray bottle if the perlite starts to get too dry. In fact, I have a 100% success rate with all my little and big leaved Hoyas with this method... strong roots too. Then I pot up in UPT's coco husk, always!

    So happy to know I'm not the only one who struggles with small leaf Hoyas. I also lost some cuttings due to my heat mat cooking my plants. I now slide a plastic container lid or thin piece of foam under my prop tray to just barely lift it off the mat. Helps prevent cooking my cuttings.

      Yes! I used to use a cooling rack (for baking) to lift the plants off of the heat mat before. I would go out and look for those on yard sales hahaha

    Thank you for the tips. I find lacunosa extremely easy to propagate and they also grow quite well for me (and they flower like crazy!) My nemesis is Wayetii. My cuttings kept dropping leaves until I learnt from a plant TH-camr that they require lots of airflow. So I removed them from the prop box and I’ve now started to see new growth. I’m crossing my fingers because I am down to just two cuttings from my only plant that got root rot. I really enjoy your videos.

    My rotundaflora rooted in 3-4 weeks like others I have propagated. I use sphagnum moss. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    I prop my Hoya Bella in water and it just roots super fast even in winter.

    • @unsolicitedplanttalks
      @unsolicitedplanttalks  ปีที่แล้ว

      They should thrive better in winter! They are cold growers :) I will prop ours when it's cold, maybe we'll be more successful this time (with neglect haha)

      @@unsolicitedplanttalks that could be right, I made cuttings in winter and they all rooted no problems and the cuttings I took in late spring are still strugling and some lost by rot. both times I propagated in cocohusk with waterwick to keep it moist.

    Can bare nodes develop new leaves? Like once the original two fall off

    Do you root in perlite?

    Hi, if you cut off vines to propagate do you lower the chance of a Hoya flowering? Thanks!

    • @unsolicitedplanttalks
      @unsolicitedplanttalks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. However, it might take a little longer for your Hoya to produce flowers since it will be focusing its energy into growing into a plant first ☺️

    Hi April , new to channel. And I'm a new Hoya owner also. Question- Cactus Soil with petlite a good mixture to start out with. I don't know if indoor plants are for me so just trying. And Dyna Gro Foliage for fertilizer?. Please help. I have a Mathilde Hoya for my first one.

    • @unsolicitedplanttalks
      @unsolicitedplanttalks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Yvonne! Welcome. That would be a decent mixture but if you can replace perlite with bark, that would be better. Perlite eventually floats to the top because of how light they are so I don't recommend them. As for the fertilizer, yes, Dyna Gro Foliage will work :)

    What fertilizer do you use on your Hoyas?

    • @unsolicitedplanttalks
      @unsolicitedplanttalks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We use slow release osmocote 14-14-14 for some and Sea Grow 16-16-16 for the majority of them :)
