I was 18 in 1972 also!!! I have loved and lived ELVIS for my entire life!! There was, is, and never will be anyone like THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL!!! ASK your Uncle! He was filled with so much energy and love for MUSIC! He was absolutely brilliant and the best entertainer EVER! He has been inducted into 5 Music HALL OF FAMES! He covered all genres of music. Everytime he sang, he gave it his all! He recorded well over 850 songs and starred in 33 movies! He was and is the GOAT! I LOVE MY ELVIS!!! In fact, I have planned out my own entire funeral and it is ALL ELVIS GOSPEL. That is how much I love him. Ask your Uncle just how great ELVIS' GOSPEL is! He loved his GOD and his JESUS!!! He definitely was an original, but I have never heard anyone say that they did not LOVE him! Once again I must say that he was the KING OF ROCK and ROLL! I always include ROCK and ROLL...because ELVIS hated to be called THE KING; He said there wasn't but one KING and that was JESUS CHRIST! WHAT A MAN HE WAS; He never saw color. He in fact, was treated much better by the black race than his own! His very best friends were James Brown and Muhammed Ali! He was a wonderful humanitarian that paid hospital bills for children and families that could not pay them, he bought very nice homes for the homeless, and his favorite thing was to go to the local car dealership in Memphis and when he saw someone who could not buy a car because of bad credit; he would have it delivered to their home! He bought hundreds and hundreds of Corvets and Mustangs for many, many people...no matter the race. He was raised in the black section of Tupelo, Mississippi and they shopped in the black part of town! We sure could use him now! I look at ELVIS! It is as though GOD made a man and gave him many spectacular gifts all wrapped up in one neat little package! And then he broke the mold! He was UNIQUE! SPECTACULAR!. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I really enjoyed your reaction! Thank you for bringing awareness to the younger generations! May GOD bless you!
Just realized Uncle Ted & I are about the same age! I first saw Elvis in concert, in Nashville in 1973. Saw him again in '74 in Louisville. I'm always wishing I had a time machine to take people back with me to see what I saw & heard. Elvis was even more gorgeous in person, his voice was pure & beautiful. His rapport with The Sweet Inspirations & the musicians was so much fun to watch. Those ladies rocked! And sounded so great. I'd love to see y'all react to "Steamroller Blues" from the "Aloha from Hawaii" 1973 concert that was the first TV special broadcast by satellite around the world. Over a billion people watched. Elvis made history. Again. Btw, I remember those glorious Afros. I'm white so I couldn't have one. But I did have hair down to my waist. That's what you saw everywhere you looked. Afros & long hair for girls AND guys. Beards & moustaches were also popular for the guys. Those were the days!💙☮💙
You should check out Charlie Rich's version of Washed My Hands from 1965, and the original Polk Salad Annie from Tony Joe White. Elvis was a fan and also friends with them both.
Elvis had lots of top 10 hits on Billboard top 100 and also on the country charts, he broke cocert attendence records, had several number 1 albums, did the first world wide concert via satellit (seen by many 100 millions),got 2 normal Grammys and 1 lifetime achivement awards (at the insane young age of 36!),his documentary "Elvis on tour" won an award for best documentary, he was chosenas one of the 10 most outstanding young men i America, All between 1970-77 !!! Truly the king !!!
The Attucks Theater in Norfolk was part of the Chitlin circuit it's still stands. That’s where I saw Elvis from the second row the Hampton Coliseum. His record sales are approaching 2 billion.
My main men Mojo and Uncle Ted! I for one always loved this part when the King opened his show. I do an at-best fair Elvis impersonation, and this is one of my go-to songs. I also remember the pick combs, which were still prevalent in the '80's, though the "fros" weren't as pronounced. Anyway, thanks for this, I'm staying groovy and eager for more, and hope my latest joint made the cut this round.
Lol you guys are awsome u make me lol. Back in high-school in the early 70s my brother from another mother had a afro and it was huge, he used to sing that afro sheen song all the time.Growing up in the 70s here in St.louis was the best. Subbed.
Regarding Hampton Roads 1972 concert, here are some suggestions if you have not seen them -- a rousing rendition of "I Got A Woman' at th-cam.com/video/anKniuWvt40/w-d-xo.html ; "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" at th-cam.com/video/lCZys7JDYyY/w-d-xo.html ; 5 songs on 1 video at th-cam.com/video/9AKS6o8B7oQ/w-d-xo.html (includes "How Great Thou Art") & see what happens at 3:12 & Elvis’ great sense of humor; thank you
If you listen, Elvis started singing off beat....He'd do that every now and then...Just playing around with the band to see if they could jump over to HIS count.....The never missed.....TCB
Stop talking so much , let the people explain ask a question then be quite and let the people talk. You talk more than the person being interviewed. Thank you.
remenber the king tnks from brazil

Sony, his recording company reports he has sold more than 6 BILLION worldwide. Nobody else is close
The next song after CC Rider is a great performance as well. Worth a listen to from this documentary.
I saw them use a Shepard stick on Showtime at The Apollo when it used to come on TV.
