What an amazing & inspiring story so beautifully told & illustrated. Made me think of my late father who was a master craftsman. He was a school teacher who taught woodworking & technical drawing amongst other subjects. His workshop was a shed at the bottom of the garden where he spent most evenings making furniture etc. When he retired he spent a lot of his time handcrafting wooden toys for children at a nearby hospital/home for disabled children. The last thing he did was set off on his bicycle to buy linseed oil to finish some toys he was working on. He collapsed & never came out of hospital. He was 81. I was his oldest daughter & he'd hoped for a son. My childhood toys were not dolls but meccano (erector sets) & other building sets with tiny bricks, mortar & trowels that u could build miniature houses with. I learned a lot from him. Later in life I was able to do carpentry, tiling, plumbing etc. Thanks for posting this lovely video.

is this a true story and if it is true they may have brought a joy to the world but they also brought in a curse stepping on a Lego brick with bare feet
My mother was German and met my father, who was a Danish Red Cross soldier, in Hamburg just after the war in 1946. They got married and she moved to Horsens, Denmark with him. A few years later, she got a job as a secretary in a local toy store, "USA" in Horsens, Denmark, where she made accounts and wrote letters. One day a representative came into the store and wanted to sell some wooden toys. He was really fond of my mother, who was both talented, spoke German, able to stenographize and was very beautiful too. The man offered her a job at his company in Billund, not far from Horsens. But my mother said no. She had a child by then and her husband, Ib, my father, had a good job with an insurance company. So he went back to Billund without my mother. The man was Ole Kirk. So if my mother, Frieda, had taken with him, she would have helped to build Lego. But, that is the way history can always be seen when looking back. Today I would love to work for Lego. Both my mother and farther do not live anymore, but their stories still do.

I remember in 1972 (I was 10 yrs old) I received my first lego set in the mail free because I filled out some form and mailed it in. I'll never forget opening it and playing with it. I was home sick from school. It brightened my day.
If I'm not mistaken, some of the family members do stand at the entrance of the original Legoland in Billund and greet visitors on the first day of the opening season :)

COOPA: Stop! You’ve violated the law!
@Mystery ? r/Youngpeopleyoutube
All these years, I never knew Lego actually started in the 1930s. I was born 70 years later.
In 2006?
“But at least now it can’t get much worse.”
BUT IT DID GET WORSE
Eric Workman Look it up.
Eric Workman OK.
【But olay was a special person】
10:10 What's funny is that the Lego TH-cam channel actually dubbed over him saying the word "damn", and replaced it with "darn"
1930's LEGO: People buying wooden toys
2020 LEGO: People making memes about a man falling into a river
lol so true
I love gen z
The Updates Nerd / TBTLUPDATES In 1930 you couldn’t make memes though lmao
Your “joke” is only a joke if it makes sense.
Vixen M. I know it is a joke, but it is really stupid, a joke needs humour but also some sense.
Vixen M. What did you say bruh for??
This video is the most accurate. It tells the origins of LEGO through the humble beginnings, era of rise to power and success.
Maxim Katsur i think this is a copy from the real lego channel
Doge the Gamer I think it’s owned by LEGO.
Rorio Mario yeah thats what i was thinking
Maybe because the video is made by LEGO
Gotfred son made this video, then he sent it to Lego then Lego owned it. Gotfred's son is Kjeld. I think he is around his 70's or 80's
Wife-at least it can't get worse.
Two days later- steps on Lego brick and dies.
adam west195 I mean IT DID GET WORSE
😂😂😂
If you die what the point of creating legos he’s dead
Hshaj or tacos r/wooosh
NOW THATS WHAT I CALL A JOKE I SAW 2 MONTHS AGO
this story makes me so sad. my brother would make stop motions with legos and he would work on them for hours just editing them and getting the legos to move just right. he was only ten or eleven, and he was so good at them. i remember i voiced one of the characters in his very first stop motion. but then he lost his phone this year, and i think all the videos he made are gone :( it breaks my heart. i hope someday he finds them
“surely things can’t get much worse!”
*in a happy and cheery voice* But they did get worse, Ole lost his wife!
lmao

Wtf cal!
But ole wasn't one to give up
:(
"Don't worry it can't get any worse"

Both my mother and farther do not live anymore, but their stories still do.
hfranke07 er du dansker?
Jeps... født i Horsens i '61. Bor nu i Sønderborg.
Wow that is a great story, I bet you wish she took the job.

I remember in 1972 (I was 10 yrs old) I received my first lego set in the mail free because I filled out some form and mailed it in. I'll never forget opening it and playing with it. I was home sick from school. It brightened my day.
"a tradition we kept ever since"
So you're telling me if I go to Lego land you'll greet me?
If I'm not mistaken, some of the family members do stand at the entrance of the original Legoland in Billund and greet visitors on the first day of the opening season :)
