She establishes the overall lyrical metaphor for the song in the first line, “I built a house for love to grow.” So the lines about painting walls and filling rooms follow that initial metaphor of the house, which is solid writing.
This song physically hurts to listen to. It brings up all those past relationships and how they fell apart even when you're giving every bit of yourself.
Without a doubt, the greatest pop vocalist of our generation, and perhaps the greatest song ever. You don't really give it, or get it just yet, just how phenomenal this work of art is. The lyrics, the melody, the simplicity, the emotion, a voice of an angel. Listen to it it a few more times, then you will understand. Most great music takes time to appreciate.
I absolutely loved this the first time i heard it ,despite it not being the single she released. It hits you right there.Just beautiful.Raw powerful and so emotional.Love it.
I agree with you guys Adele put it all on the table with this one. It gave me goosebumps it touch me to my soul and very relatable. I love everything about Adele and her music this why she my favorite singer ❤️👏🏽
This song is so powerful, dramatic, emotional, and beautifully written that it literally touches your soul. Your reaction to this song was so lacking that I ended up wishing you would just be quiet an let it play out. You stumbled for things to say about it and appeared ill at ease. I am sorry to have to say this, but Adele's talent and song writing skills weren't even mentioned, not once. There is no one like her in music today. She is a phenomenon and has a legion of fans all over the world. She has earned the love of faithful fans everywhere. You also never mentioned the only musical instrument supporting per performance was a piano. Who else do we know today that could sing a song like To Be Loved with such sparse instrumentation and hit every note. This was done as a demo and has no autotuning, her work doesn't need it. Her voice, the lyrics, and the melodies are unforgettable and so beautiful, therefore, I expected more from you as song writers and critics.
That`s why billions around the world know and love Adele and her incredible music. When you can write a song as good as this ,and sing it live ,so effortlessly ,you are a true singer/songwriter.Not many around today. This is just beautiful ,and i`m amazed anyone can listen and not be touched by the raw emotion.Gives me goosebumps.
The more I've listened to this, the more I kinda wish the song ended on the very last "Let it be known...." without the resolution. It's like a declaration out to the world that doesn't contain the same remorse that the last few notes bring back in. It's almost defiant, which I think would be a fascinating turn. Unresolved. She could even end the last part of "known" on the dominant tone that "tried" ends on and just let the reverb carry it off as a command. You can test the idea by just pausing before the last few words and see how it sits.
I was thinking something similar however I have thought a few different ways about this song. It's great and well thought out. I think people don't understand the depth of great song writing and emoting it entails.
damn every time i listen to this song shes got a grown ass man tearing up every single time and i think its just cuz of the emotion she puts into it and you can feel the pain in every word..this song is my favorite on the album but the album overall is just a masterpiece she put that thing together perfectly she deserves every grammy out there and shes going to clean house with a clean sweep i hope..her instagram version where shes on her couch is even more emotional cuz you can see the pain and hurt when shes singing it..thanks for this video great job
This song is so personal, I doubt it would feature in any future set she does, if you don't get a lump in your throat listening to this, you must be stone cold hearted. Just simply beautifully sung and delivered with passion.
OK. I know I'm gonna get killed for this, but ... this sounds to me like Adele's version of Frank Sinatra's "My Way". And, Tina Sinatra said, years later, that Frank hated that song, in part because he didn't agree with the lyrics, which he thought were "self-serving and self-indulgent". Maybe Adele won't sing it anymore because she's come to feel the same way about her lyrics. No one knows but her.
@@1thomson she's already stated that she won't sing it because it's way too emotional for her. She can't be in the same room if this song is playing. It's not because she hates the song lol
